Ceiling Light or L-Box Cove light looks better

I am thinking to renovate my living area to have cove lighting but is because my ceiling is low, I worry it will look lower if I make L-Box cove light instead of ceiling light? any advice can provide me? Cove light or ceiling light will be better for low height units?

I think for HDB, it is better for covelight or L box as it does not obstruct the whole HDB ceiling. You will have room for ceiling fan too.
