Ok so here goes... I have been a constant lurker in this forum never really participating yet feasting my eyes away at all the other t-blogs. hehe Thank you for those who share here! I love looking at your renos, even though I never comment.

Our 1st home was in punggol Treelodge 4rm flat on a very high floor and awesome view. But it was extremely inconvenient considering that both of us work in the east. We could not trust our helper to be alone with our son on such a high floor apartment, even though grilles were installed. *I know, trust issues* So we ended up sending our boy to my mum's house everyday. IT was exhausting. Therefore when the 5 yrs was up, we we so ready to give up the "high life" haha and move back to our kampong :).. in Pasir Ris. House hunting was crazy with many houses being unavailable for us to purchase because of racial quota. But eventually we managed to purchase a house of MY preferred estate in Pasir Ris :) the iconic kuih lapis blocks... (those who know pasir ris will know which ones Im talking about hehe)

My reno is currently about 70% done.... Will post more pictures soon.

Big! What is the size? Arch door still look good unless u are going for modern interior.

Its about 148sqm! The smallest unit among my neighbours! But its huge to me. I was contemplating the arch doors but.... its too traditional for us. We initially wanted to go with the colonial style but with 9 people living in this house, seems too difficult to accomplish. Thus we did away with it.

Our ID search was exhausting! We went to several IDs and several recommendations but most of them quoted us about 100k! That is crazy! Our list of requirements were to overhaul kitchen and two toilets, bedroom floorings to change to burmese teak, windows and grilles and carpentry. We decided to keep the living room homogeneous flooring as it was still in great condition.

I was almost ready to give up when every Id quoted us between 14 to 20k just for the room flooring alone until my colleague introduce me to his contractor Uncle. Lets call him Uncle P. Uncle P is such a chillax guy and we almost immediately clicked! and best of all his quote was half of whatever Ids were quoting. Including rewiring and much more. Furthermore when I see the workmanship at my friend's place, I was very sure I want him to do my house.

Uncle P is able to give me suggestions and tell me whether what I wanted was practical or not. And he was quick to rectify anything that needs to be rectified. Best of all while everything was ongoing, he was there everyday to open my house (never used number lock) and check on the progress. Sometimes he is also with his workers working alongside. Such a humble man he is. That is also why I keep adding things to my list of reno.

Alright enough blabbering, I will post pictures of my almost completed house.

Our front door. We required a ramp as my dad is wheelchair bound. Uncle P suggested chengal wood for our "porch area". The previous owner had some weird tiles at the front door so we did away with that and did the decking. Love love love the workmanship!

View from the front door with a half partition. We initially wouldn't even think of actually putting any top on the surface of this partition but Uncle P surprised us one day by topping it up with a wooden plank. Its things like this that makes us so happy with his work. He really puts in effort in everything he does. :)

Kitchen Windows and my Moroccan-like backsplash

Kitchen floor tiles. I saw this design at Hafary and Uncle P was so positive that he can do it! I must say I am satisfied with his tiling. Some Ids/contractors that I used for my previous house will say i charge more or not possible but Uncle P was hey, sure why not!

Clothes pole that can be pushed out of the window up!

Kitchen cabinets up... I bought the handles from Amazon.

My Kitchen Island. There is some adjustment done but have yet to take a pic.

View of my HUGE shoe cabinet. Is it enough for 9 people? I hope so!

IMG-20160519-WA0026.jpg

Masterbedroom small niche was made into a walk in wardrobe not.. more like closet cos its small. Initially wanted to change the toilet door position here BUT it was not approved as there was a huge beam there. oh wells, now i got a "walk in".. yaay

Chest drawers are so hard to find off the rack and the sizes are usually too small or too large so we decided to customise with Blum drawers... Again handles are from Amazon.

BedRoom 3. Since this will house my 2 adult brothers, we brought over our OPSH pole system wardrobe from the old house and made it open concept. Bold wall colours were chosen by my brothers.
