Updates, updates! Renovation is 95% complete and I've only left with a little of electrical works and kitchen top to finish up. Last weekend my final shipment of Taobao loots was shipped to me and as usual, I'm completely amazed at the quality, packing and price of everything I bought. There's just way too many things I purchased from TB to the point I have a long list of excel spreadsheet where I organised my purchases! Contractor J came in with his workers to fix up all the accessories and removed the floor protection and HIS WORKERS EVEN BUILT AND FIXED UP ALL MY TAOBAO FURNITURES FOR US!! Hubby was so thankful for that! As they were removing the protection, I had a room full of furnitures from TB so they decided to open up all the boxes (at least 4 cubic metres of furnitures) and started fixing them. They were so quick to put everything up for us it was way beyond words can describe, LOL. Hubby mentioned that it was take him at least two full days to open up and fix everything but they did all up in less than an hour - AMAZING RIGHT!! There was about 6 of them and all super hands-on! They didnt even have to read the instructions on fixing the items and everything was up just looking at the holes and screws!! Here's a sneak peek - sorry for the mess and low resolution photos taken with phone... Our ventos fino fan purchased from Tampoi in Malaysia for MBR- Its super good and perfect for afternoon naps! And finally, my 'supposed' make up table and DIY-ed IKEA mirror which we sprayed to white colour. In all honestly, I had very much liked the look but I find it too small to fit all my moisturizers and facial products + cosmetics and there's still a huge gap between my bed and the make up table. I preferred my make up table to be right beside my bed so after considering for three days and getting nagged by hubby (Because he SUPER LOVE the matt black sewing machine which he took 2 days to clean, prime and spray), he finally acceded to me buying another new make up table which is 1 metre long This make up table is 60CM and I'd like to let it go to someone who would appreciate the look because such vintage sewing machines are SO HARD to find these days + it was alot of effort cleaning it up so please PM me if you'd like to take it over Hope to finish up my grills, receive my bedframe from Hommage and complete my renovation soon! Yippeee!

Hi B! Yeah for our scandinavian theme we followed closely to the bright-bright-look using white lights... Hehehe.. But ok lei so far CFO & I not dizzy at night wahahaha But we don't turn on all the living area lights at the same time definitely! Usually we will just turn on 1 or 2 rows.. All is well indeed and my variation order is coming! *fingers crossed* Thanks binzz for your kind commentssss! Hahaha.. I hope I managed to help in some way with the blog post on #JimmyTextiles.. Ok, after I ordered at their shop & paid deposit, still have to settle on a date for them to come down to do site measurement, after which they gotta go back to do the fabric sewing etc, before settling on a final date for curtain/blind installation!! Hmmmm from the date of the site measurement to the date of installation was about 2 weeks.. But that's also because I wasn't in a hurry and didn't chase them.. Could be faster if you have a more flexible schedule!! Hope all is well on your end binzz! Hi Mr Marvel fan AKA Ken82! Now I will forever remember that about you. Wahahaha... My living area uses the Elmark Aeronamic 56" fan, whereas all my bedrooms are using the 44" KDK baby fan.. All bought from Tampoi Lighting House in Johor Bahru.. See Post#292! Wahahahaha zen_zen... My reason for putting exhaust fans in both bathrooms is just so that... "No one else's business will become my business when I have to smell it"... Ok in case I tried too hard to come up with a smart quote & left everyone scratching their heads... Basically to remove all unwanted smells after all bathroom-related activities.. I bought my exhaust fans from Choo Chiang Marketing Pte Ltd (located in some godsaken-ulu-place in woodlands if I remember correctly) and they cost SGD61 each. We collected on the spot at their warehouse so I'm not sure if they have any transportation service/ fees... *shrug* After which, we got #PoshHome to supply & install an acrylic panel at an additional cost of SGD290 each.. And not forgetting the new electrical point tapping onto our main bathroom light switch & labour to install the exhaust fans themselves at SGD60 each.. Did I hear someone say hole in the pocket? Taken note PTopaz! Haven't blogged much about my Master Bedroom because it's really nothing much.. Stay tuned!

I have finally confirmed my renovations with Ronald. He is very friendly and accomodating. I constantly asked him for advice and he just gives me his honest advice. Like what he has said above, his carpenters are too busy so i have chosen to only do wet works and paint work. His prices have been really reasonable and I really hope the workmanship is good as well. From all these readings, i believe my renovation is in good hands. Thank you so much Ronald. I'm the first guy in my entire group of friends to buy a flat and do renovation. So i'm the guinea pig in terms of renovation. All of them are gonna ask me for advice for their homes. I assure you, you are gonna get lots of recommendations from me.

MY CONTRACTOR : ANDREW A few of you been asking, who is my contractor. So today i will give you an assessment of him. Why i delayed until now to give out his name? For all type of services, i believe in before sales service and after sale service. I guess a month into moving in, would be good enough to say about their after sales service. Why i choose Andrew? 1) I was on a budget and i know all those that i want to do not going to be cheap. Having a long WIW, special door, special swivel tv feature wall and an island is not going to be cheap. When i speak to 9 contractors/ID, i roughly know the price and it was slightly above my budget. So no choice but to choose as cheap as possible. His pricing is not the cheapest (2nd cheapest) but its good enough for me. 2) The chemistry - i understand what he says and he understands what i wanted. so its easy for me to tell him my ideas and my wants to make it into the dream home i wanted. I think this is very important so that what you have in your mind will become a reality. Or else a lot of misunderstanding will come and have a lot of bad feelings between yourself and your contractor/ID. 3) He was recommended by a friend. I always believe in recommendation because as friends, we want good things for our friends too. So i am very careful about who i recommend as well, whether for reno or for any other things that we face on daily basis. If its recommended, then i know he will try his best to do things to the best he can as he won't want to spoilt his relationship with the "recommender". For eg, now that he has done my reno, he will not be able to answer to me if he did not do his best for those i recommended. Renovation assessment As i was in a tight timing to move in, from the time i collect the keys to i move in, only have 39 days, including saturdays and sundays. So if i take away these 2 days, there are only 29 days. So, a few of the preparation have to be done before renovation begins. Tiles selection : 3 times Laminate selection : 4 times Lightings : 1 time Cabinet, wardrobe and door design : 3 times I would say that he was quite patient with me. I considered myself quite fussy but now that i am in renotalk for a while, i realised i am not very fussy actually. hahahaha... there are worse people than me. I would say, Andrew is: 1) Patient 2) Prioritise well (so if you are as urgent case as me, then i believe he will make it happen for you) 3) A bit long winded so you must be patient to listen to him as well 4) Trustworthy - but this is a 2-way thing. If you trust him, he will deliver but if you always suspect and question him, how he will be able to do his job well? 5) Never give nonsense excuses. Actually, so far, never really gave me any excuses. 6) Eye for perfection. Like i said, i though i was fussy but he is fussier than me. Things i never realised, he will see it and try to get it done in a better way for me. 7) Even after a month of moving in, i just need to call him or his project coordinator, i get things done. The grout line for my toilet flooring seem like loosen and have gaps, so today got it done (with 2 days notice). 8) Sometimes busy and difficult to get him, but if you willing to keep on calling or leave sms, he will call you back. But 80% of the time, i manage to get him so totally not a problem for me. I am so glad my reno was so smooth. Although tiring but at least i never face anything not able to be rectified or corrected. Most importantly, no delay at all although some touch up were done during this whole month. Anything for me to complain? NONE!!! So after finished this reno, i gained a friend. And through renotalk, i gained many many friends. Its a short journey but one that gained me a lot of experiences and friends.
