Greetings to all fellow Renotalkers! I have been a curious reader for the past 3 months, absorbing any and every advice given in this community. Me and my missus have purchased a 4A Resale flat after 5 failed attempts at BTO/SBF. After deciding to look into the resale market, we listed down our criteria for our home: 1) High Floor 2) Corner Unit 3) Must have storeroom (to stash away all our chapalan stuff) 4) North-South facing 5) Fits our budget After looking through many units around my parent's area, we finally saw one which fit our criteria (4/5). Although this is not a corner unit, we loved the view. That feeling in your gut that says "THIS IS THE ONE" once you step foot into the unit. ">http://www.renotalk.com/forum/gallery/image/12621-floor-plan/] We exercised our option late in October and fast forward, we collected our keys today! Excited to finally have our own place to call HOME! Next up: ID/Contractor Selection

I wish to share my experience last few months when choosing a ID/contractor to renovate my resale arm flat in pasir ris. Months before deciding to get the house, we started to source for IDs and contractors. Before everything, i thought that IDs will be a better choice as they seem more legit however, after experiencing some of the ID companies, we decided to go for contractor. ( because a lot of IDs charge hidden fees and ID fees and what nots, plus a lot of them are quite young with not much experience. ) So i got referred by my colleague to this contractor cum ID. He is in the field for about 25 years and hence have a lot of experience. We actually have an idea of how we would like our house to be so we told him of our idea and most of the time he accommodate to our ideas but when our idea wasn't practical he immediately pointed out. I think we benefitted a lot from this "extra service" as i do not think younger IDs with less experience can match up. Moreover, he offered me a super good price and i must say the workmanship and quality of materials are of high standards. We were very happy with the outcome of the reno. Right from the start, we found him to be very sincere and straightforward. If he thinks that certain things shouldn't be this way he will let us know and advise us on the alternatives. He gave us many options and opinions which made us felt comfortable. Also, his service was very good as he is always contactable and will reply. We can tell that he is very passionate about his job as he always tells us how a home should be done and feel. We decided to share our story here because we really saved a lot of money and we know that many people will be in the same situation as us and we will like to share this good experience with everyone and at the same time hopefully he will benefit from our sharing by getting more customers! Anyone interested please let me know.

Hi everyone! Just wanted to recommend Teng Hong Renovate. I renovated my BTO 4-room flat last year with them. It is a small family run business and the owner is very down to earth and easygoing. Pricing wise is very competitive too. I did not engage an ID, so I told Mr Low (the contractor) what I want to do with my place and he advised us accordingly whether it is doable or not. Here's some photos of my humble abode. I demolished the wall between the kitchen and dining area, and the wall between my living room and bedroom 3 for a bigger space. I really love the outcome of the renovation! Highly recommend Mr Low! You can contact them via their facebook page and they will give you a quotation. Hope this helps!

Happy New Year everyone!! Hope the feasting and celebrations has been great! Just wanted to share a little about how the quality of Contractor J has been after staying in this house for almost 3 years as I've received several enquiries on durability and quality... Renovation durability : I haven't had a single problem with any carpentry works etc which Contract J has done for me. Everything is working perfectly and infact new condition maybe because I've been taking good care of everything Shoe cabinet, wardrobe, kitchen cabinets are all doing really well and super sturdy. KompacPlus Kitchen Top: This kitchen top is great! Apart from the oil stains at gets on KompacPlus occasionally that's easily cleaned off with a wet cloth, it looks brand new hahaha Taobao loots: My TV console, table, chairs, lightings are in excellent condition. Until today I've only changed my dining light bulbs once lol The only issue I have that was bought from taobao are the toilet faucet taps and bidet spray - the faucet seems to be tougher to maintain and my bidet spray started leaking half a year back but I suspect its just due to daily usage but from this experience, I will never purchase any toilet related faucet, taps or even shower heads etc from taobao because the quality is really bad compared to original brands that can probably last many years. Very thankful for having such a wonderful home because happy home, happy life And anyone who visits my place always compliments how Contractor J did a beautiful job. Recently my colleagues came and they exclaimed as well which makes us very pleased till date. Free free to drop me any messages and I'll try to reply! Cheers to 2017!!!

Your most welcomed! Anyway, today I visited Heritage Bathroom and am very satisfied with my purchases. I walked several shops comparing prices before finally settling down at Heritage and indeed their prices are not only cheaper than Jalan Besar & Balestier shops, but also cheaper than all the other shops selling Fujioh Hood + Hob and Carysil Granite Sink! So here's what I bought: The different models of Carysil Granite Sink (Pls note prices indicated is not the actual price) In the end I only paid SGD$190 for the Big Bowl Black Granite Sink - super cheap cause they are having 40%-60% discount ends end July so I quickly went down! Top mount single bowl granite sink! Steal price cause in Jalan Besar other shops quoted min of $300+ Apart from this, I also purchased Fujioh FG772SVGL (2 burner, glass top) and Fujioh Hood FX900 F/V as well as an Ariston Oven 52litres @$550. Do note that these prices I purchased INCLUDES GST. There were other shops they quote me same or more expensive prices but when they are invoicing, they added another 7% GST which means prices were not nett. At Heritage, the salesgirl Sherrine who served me was really really nice, patient and helpful. She gave me all prices including GST and discounted further when I bought more + followed up with me via Whatsapp. If you go before July, you should ask Sherrine to serve you! (By the way beside Heritage got a shop selling exactly the same thing and their shop size is x2 and after an Auntie served (feels like the boss) me say their price is the best etc etc but when I went over to Heritage I realised the Auntie wasn't being competitive with the price even though she seemed to give me a lot of discount) Thankfully I compared before going Heritage!
