  1. Thanks for all the help but everything is installed already.... Stuck to the initial offering but ya lor, that's life, timing is everything. imagination/ preparation/ execution is just a human effort.
  2. Yes, i think carpentry quotation is messy. (heard a earful but still not sure the rationale for such quotation. It is the same wood and similar construction) I think price variation also dependent on the veneers they use. There is a difference in grade of veneers. Some higher priced veneers are really nicer. But it is just psychological, or aesthetics... whichever way u put it. The wood planks underneath the veneers are still the same.
  3. How to calculate this CPF Accrued Interest? If let's say it is 10years ago, CPF withdrawal of $120k?
  4. i will be careful over this as cutting them while waiting may be risky. 1) waiting time 2) after round hole cut, it cannot be drilled further to enlarge the hole if the installation requires as such

  7. My carpenter says the sliding door handle is quite small. (only 1.5 inch diameter). However, I checked web and saw this. Like it alot too.. http://designerhandle.co.uk/Pull-Handles-F...oduct_info.html (model FPH1004) Any idea if we can get it, or something like that locally? Time is critical, hence I cannot buy it online.... Thanks in advance.
  8. I am thinking of geting some landscape photo (say 1m by 30cm). Is there such acrylic/clear plastic frame that can be mounted up to wall. I.e. I just replace the photo/ picture easily. Where can I get those? I am thinking Bras Basah complext, Artfriend.... not sure if available or other places...
  9. If shipping, do we need to buy GST? BKK's wood furniture is indeed well made. I think Indonesian or Thai carpenters are very skillful
  10. Maybe someone can comment better on the quote. (just chirping in ) 1) Using any glass? 2) Exotic wood, or plain wood/ planks and veneer? 3) Did carpenter mention any construction difficulty? or this is normal quote....
  11. Thanks. Where is a good place to buy drawer organiser? Ikea, muji , or other home improvement shops to recommend? Funan stationary shop in second floor?
  12. I plan to do one side of the wall in study room. ~10foot with computer table, bookselves... I checked my office furniture and noticed drawers are usually under utilised. I.e. it cannot put books or files. I can think of using one drawer for suspended filing. But that's it. Any one has any idea of functionality of drawers usage? Useful in study room?
  13. I just bought Brandt 08771 washing machine for its water and electrical saving. However, all along i am quite concern over opening the washing machine door during my WM shopping. Now that it is delivered and my mum tried, my deepest fear surfaced. She finds it hard to open using her thumb, or index and middle fingers... Any current users can shed some light in opening the WM door with minimum effort?
  14. I changed my air con recently. My previous flat owner used a piece of vinyl sheet to cover the top of the compressor. I.e. some sort of a hat to protect the top and some parts of the side of the compressor such that it is not exposed to direct sun and rain. What do you think? Is it feasible or recommended? (seeing that the air con cables are exposed to external environment, should we pamper it slightly by covering some heat insulating/ water proof sheet on the compressor?
  15. Great feedback, thanks.... I have second thoughts over Ikea then... Actually i like Billy, one reason is the price, the other is the base which has a cut out for skirting.... The other better range of bookshelves do not have this design. Anyway, if the functional aspect of Billy (to fill up the room with books) cannot be meet, i think it is really customised carpentry then, although it is almost priced 2 times or more.... Billy is a sad case for book lovers... i would have concluded.....
  16. There is a similar thread on Ikea carpentry but more on kitchen stuff.... So what is the general opinion of Ikea Billy bookcase? I am thinking of getting it for whole wall, say 3m x 2m for study room. Any past users or heard any horror stories to share?
  17. Thanks for the info. I have taken the measurement and i am now confident with the measurement and the shopping. However, I am not so sure over the installer. I checked with taxi driver and he advised to drill hole during installation (yeah, have to rely on hearsay, anywhere i can get hold of ... ) Any recommended installer ?
  18. Just went to Jln Besar shops and notices there are two sizes of trash bin. Cost is around $90. Any idea if there are different sizes, and how to take measurement? (My flat is 20 years old) Installation, is it a big hassle?
  19. I asked my aircon installer on the TV antenna out (before Starhub cable point) on the possibility to remove them. They said it is better to leave it, as the rod is connected from top floor all the way down. Any reasons why they still need this TV antenna cable? For grounding???
  20. Hi Audiophiles in renotalk, I am planning to arrange for electrician to lay dedicated power cable from main distribution box to hifi room. Electrician is suggesting using Milpin power cable, a dedicated three core cable, which is around $7 per metre. Any other suggestions on what power cable to use? I don't mind buying it myself, but pls advise on price and where to buy.... Thanks in advance.
  21. Hi, I was impressed by the showroom that Gain city had on the insulation material/ method they used during air con installation. As such, I bought a Sys-3 air con from them, changing the insulation material to Armaflex, a thicker plastic insulation. Yesterday, they installed the aircon. Originally, I thought they will put tin foil on the insulation at the compressor situated outside the flat, as similar to the showroom. But when installation done, I noticed there is no tin foil. Installer says use Armaflex, no need tin foil. Any Gain city - Armaflex users here have any comments to share? Is tin foil really useful, or practical in outside insulation, or protect from sunlight?
  22. Any one have info? If not, are we saying it is better to 1) get a well establish brand name (otherwise the flushing mechanism may be obsoleted when the brand exit the market) 2) find a relatively popular standard to ensure future supplies are avail (flushing may be easier to find standard but toilet cover, not so easy lor...)
  23. Anyone has any idea on where is Vanda toilet seat cover sold? I went to quite a number of shops, Genova, Poh Joo, Xin Xiang Jun, .... but cannot locate this brand. I need to change the seat cover. Thanks in advance.
