  1. i was quoted $680 for the same.
  2. im choosing granite for my worktop, loved it for its durability n its more scratch-resistant than solid surface. however, my ID charging me 120 per foot run ( v ex right?), which comes up to $2700 just for worktop alone for my 22.5ft kitchen cabinet! Solid surface is $80 per foot run. but cos we will be using our kitchen quite often, so rather pay more for more lasting durability.
  3. pardon me, but wats the purpose in gettin the lock then if they can be opened with the same key? i.e. can break the door, can break e gate too.
  4. i was recommended to this co by a fren. have received a quotation from them, price average tho. not too sure of their quality.
  5. hi blueberet, congrats on ur shifting in. hows all ur unpacking going on? reno completed handover?
  6. thanks blueberet for ur advice, will weigh my considerations again. hope to hear from u again after u hav shift in!
  7. I was thinking we do not have many active neighbours in this forum perhaps due to the general age band of the residents there, many seemed to be families, or those who got offered an unit due to en-bloc of their older flats at Bedok. Unlike newly-wed couples like us (i presumed you are ). The reno cost of doing up two bathrooms was already $7k at least, exluding cost of WC, basin and vanity cabinets, which come up to 10k easily. So i was thinking to bear with the floor tiles for a few years, but then if I overhaul them some time later, the shower screen i install now wud be wasted Do you know if overlaying the bathrooms increase/decrease the valuation of the flat? Heard the floor tiles need quite a fair bit of scrubbing, i dun wish to regret not overlaying them soon after i shift in, but then the additional cost can alr afford quite a few basic furnishings. Mayb you can provide me more advice after you shift in.
  8. Earnest Interiors, hmmm, mayb i shd get a quotation from them too, is ur ID good? can PM me ur ID contact, thanks. Ok will get the website from u in due course. Hey yes we can share our reno experience, bargain buys etc. Really nice to know someone from the same block before we shift in. Lets invite each other to our units when our reno is done My unit does not face the afternoon sun, perhaps only the kitchen. thats why was wondering how come the unit still available in our ballot exercise. So wat was the budget u set for ur home? I plan to lay laminate flooring in room and homo in remaining areas. Was thinking if need to overlay the bathrooms flooring, cos the tiles quality seemed inferior, do u have any probs with that? It looks like it accumulates dirt easily.
  9. blueberet, nice to meet you too! I plan to start reno in sep and shift in in nov, that y still shortlisting IDs now. Hmm, considering between Inside Living and *****. Which ID u have engaged? Ya i count myself v lucky to be able to get that flat, is yours a 5room too? when did you buy it? then we can compare thru PM actually i think i paid kinda high for it, but nonetheless, i stil like it v much!
  10. hi shufang, william was one of the salesperson who attended to me. they are most prob unable to show us any real life co cos they were incorporated only several months ago. even their showroom is still under reno! so wat do u plan to do with ur $500?
  11. hi shufang, they showed me my 2D drawings too, but 3D they said will take some time, expected ard 3rd week of jul. wat abt yours? i requested to visit their proj but no arrangement yet. they are a very new co.
  12. chanced upon this firm and went in, so far two meetings wif my id, she is quite good, meticulous and patient. pricing wise quite reasonable too, thinking of engaging them. will be requesting to visit their project soon.
  13. hi groovygenie, nice lights u have there! very good taste for lightings, especially like e one with floral prints around, i suppose that is in the MBR? Did u buy that from Lightcraft? Care to share how much that light costed? ALL your lights from lightcraft? How much did u spend in buying all the lights for your whole house? Thanks in advance for sharing.
  14. hi euoh0bear, u seemed to have quite a few bargain deals, esp like ur crystal light. can PM me ur ID's contact? im sourcing for an ID now. thanks.
  15. hi folks, noticed this thread has stopped for several months, nonetheless hoping to catch some of u around! i shd be your newest neighbour in bedok north, got my keys last month, now researching on ID to do up my place. I m living in blk 181, mid-level floor, got it in Feb 08 ballot exercise. Does anyone know how come there are stil remaining units after so long? btw im a chinese, took a 5-rm flat, at the time of selection, there were still 2 units to choose from, which im still rather pleased with. hows the neighbourhood so far? cant wait to shift in and meet u all!
  16. hi xinyi, can PM me ur contractor contacts? thanks. may i ask how is his pricing like? average or above average etc
  17. i was quoted $1k for haulage, which i find it very ex also. We rejected the quotation and the ID called back to initiate 'negotiation'. so u can actually slash haulage cost, they may if u have alot of carpentry works for them to absorb back the profit margin.
  18. Wow, ok noted. meeting the ID this weekend to resolve. thinking of using the deposit money to do some ala-carte reno instead. Better to avoid more trouble.
  19. another thing is easier maintenance - u do not have to clean ur the top of ur wardrobes, which collects dust easily, since they are built to the ceiling!
  20. hi simpleguy80, care to share more about ur bad experience at the expo?
  21. hi all, thanks for your advice, looks like i should not accept their payment terms. To my amazement, the co is neither a HDB registered contractor, neither is it an accredited contract in RADAC! Most impt of all, the co was incorporated only this year! Giving me jitters already, but I have paid a deposit. Now wondering wat to do.
  22. Received the following payment schedule: 65% upon commencement of works 30% upon commencement of carpentry works 5% upon job completion Is this the industry standard? Cos i feel 65% upon work commencement seems kinda high, and 5% as the final payment seem to leave me with small bargaining power for the ID to clear outstanding issues. Can someone share their experience?
  23. Have anyone heard of Space Inspiration or has any comments on them? They claimed that they are the supplier of carpentry materials to a few ID firms and that their selling point is in their own carpentry worksmanship. Provided a 3yr warranty on their carpentry, which is rather expensive, about $230 per feet. Have yet to witness any of their carpentry works, cos I came to know of them only at the Expo show. Their office seems far away in Tampines Industrial Park. Kinda unconfident about them. Have paid a deposit already, was wondering if it will be better if I engage their ala-carte services e.g. instal shower screen instead with the deposit. Any kind souls pls advise.
