  1. hey thanks for the caution! my weight is in the mid-range but still, i think the sofa might sink in after some time if that's the case. i'll look around some more.
  2. i found this really nice looking ceiling fan but it's only available in australia. was toying with the idea of buying it online & have it shipped here but not sure if it can be used in singapore.
  3. been eyeing this bamboo charcoal mattress which was retailing at OM & finally dropped by the store to look at it. finally caved in to my temptation & paid a deposit (and i'm only getting my keys in Jan!) for it. the sales person said it's not too early as they need at least 3 months to place the order for the bed & mattress. Top photo: is the mattress. Bottom pic: the bed frame (but not the color i want. will select the color later when paying the balance). saw this sofa that i liked & it costs less than $1,000 after discount. OMG. I am so tempted.
  4. been busy sourcing for quotes the past 2 months. i think i'm pretty close to sourcing for about 10 IDs/contractors so far. But i've only received 4 quotes & still waiting for 3 more quotes. this is the list by far: 1) U Home (Pen - ID) - met up 2 mths ago but no quote yet. think they aren't keen in doing business 2) Design Ministry (ID - recommended by colleague) - quote submitted. way exceeded budget by at least $10k. 3) Prozfile (Alvin - ID) - saw their booth at a recent exhibition at expo. love their designs. quote was ok (mid range) 4) Vace (Vincent - Contractor) - recommended by colleague. suprisingly expensive, despite being a contractor. 5) Renozone (Colin - ID) - recommended by friend. very prompt & sincere. quote by far is the lowest. shortlisted. 6) AMDA Interior (Ambrose) - recommended by friend. waiting for quote 7) Mr K - contractor - recommended by Renotalk members. meeting him this sat. 8) Ming Hui - ID - recommended by agent. waiting for quote. Contractors aren't exactly cheap, I realised. So far, Renozone provided the most competitive quote. Colin sounded really nice & sincere (he's a personal friend of my friend). Most likely may appoint him but am keeping fingers crossed till i get the remaining 3 quotes. Sourcing for quotes is yet another tiring journey to getting a new home.
  5. you had louvre doors installed instead of the usual windows & grilles? that's really interesting.
  6. the original looks really bad! can't wait for your reno pics!
  7. WOW!! I love this! where & how much did it buy it for?
  8. i'd like to quote a friend of mine "if the unit is meant to be yours, it will be". i viewed more than 20 units in a span of 1.5 month. I liked 2 of them but because of timing & much procrastination, both were sold off. there was a 3rd i liked but still, i didn't make any offer immediately. i asked for a 2nd viewing & made an offer thereafter. & option has already been exercised good luck!
  9. Not sure why you can't view the pictures??? was playing around with the layout (was thinking of knocking down some walls) & would like some advices: Layout 1: Layout 2: Original Layout here: http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/s720x720/487291_10150822157358078_27650652_n.jpg Problem with layout 1 is, i don't know what to do with the other spare bedroom. Layout 2 looks shockingly spacious & it looked more like a 1 bedder Suggestions?
  10. yup! all 3 stay together in perfect harmony. =) the flat was tenanted & owned by JTC so it's in original condition. definitely needs complete makeover. walls seem good so don't think need to do any plastering. i'm thinking of a scandinavian/minimalist theme. too many ideas going thru my head now. i was toying with the possibility to knock down the walls b/w the MBR & Bedroom 2 & also the wall between Bedroom 1 & the Living room to create one big living hall. many hackings = many $$$ =(
  11. Hi All been a silent reader & really love the ideas that kept rolling in by members in this forum. i've just selected a 4 room resale flat in the north east. will be staying with my 2 dogs & cat. here's my flat layout: am still contemplating whether to get an ID or contractor. i've always engaged an ID to handle everything but now that i'm alone, i thought of saving some costs to engage a contractor instead. any idea if the savings is significant? will only be getting keys in 4th quarter. i know it's abit early but i'm so excited about my new place!
  12. congrats! i just sold off my 3 room flat & now searching for another 3 room. Looking forward to your updates! PS: I have 2 dogs & a cat
  13. not sure if u still need one? anyway here's one.. Orangtee. Regina 92381073. Good luck & happy house hunting!
  14. want to keep it simple my hubby collects. not me. he has transformer, bear brick, star wars & lots more. i have only 6 blythe dolls. hahaha
  15. thanks for the compliments! few more updates..they have not completed the carpentry..and im shifting in on sun Toy Display Cabinet Shoe Cabinet TV Console
  16. think the total reno price about $35k, cos i added some items. sliding door alone about $1200 bah. LOL. they haven't put in lor. 2 more days ma. after reno completed will put in nicer photos my preference is to have the entire cabinet full glossy black. look more classy actually its a very dark brown. can't really tell from the photo. this wardrobe alone costs about $2.5k i think.
  17. thanks! wall colour is granite colour. table top colour will be black coz my house color scheme is black/white/grey
  18. my reno is 85% completed! and the remaining has to be completed by this fri as i'm moving in on Sun. some glitches along the way & a few more spotted today (bedroom wall wrong color, door & door frame they painted 2 different colors ) - these have to be rectified by this Saturday latest! Here's some pictures: Living Room (from main entrance) Living Room (another view) Walk In Wardrobe - it's miserably small so i guess it should be considered a normal wardrobe now Toy display cabinet Kitchen
  19. finally given the 3D drawings BUT: - its not the complete set - the changes are still not made - height of shoe cabinet should be aligned with window - the color scheme is not right - feature wall is removed - vertical cabinet should be able to put in microwave oven & toaster - color scheme not right - floor tile is BLACK - color not right they are still owing me drawings for the walk-in wardrobe & toy display cabinet. anyway, they said can handover the house to me by end of this month~! went to get some lightings today. damage for the day: $1350.
  20. yeah lor. guess to minimise any problem i'll juz use back the old frame. looks pretty new actually on a separate note, i just found out that we can't use government gas. need to use the cylinder tank. SIGH. yepz. i wanted black tiles actually but contractor says no stock.
  21. tiles are up! didn't expect so fast & got 'reprimanded' by contractor as i'm engaging another supplier to do the windows & didn't tell him earlier. coz he's afraid they may damage the tiling. sigh. How am I supposed to know? anyway, here are a few photos:
