  1. Spam chop! Welcome! The first pictures I saw of your house is your gaming console and gaming buddies...haha... that's something different!
  2. Oh dear... this is bad... perhaps he is really busy...I was told that end of the year is the peak season for renovations so delays are going to be more commonplace. Perhaps you can give him some sort of ultimatum and if he doesn't reply by then, you might really want to consider going to another company. I suppose if he delays like this, there is a chance he might also delay and not reply you during the reno process... Anyway, don't get overly stressed ok? I know you did a lot of homework sourcing out other companies so you needn't start from scratch. Hope things will be ok by tmr. Good luck!
  3. Your reno is looking good! Some minor defects but dun worry about it, just get your ID to rectify them. I like your MBR toilet... I would love to have a black and grey toilet for my MBR but decided against it cos it will mean exceeding our budget by a lot. Nevermind... i will just drool at yours... hehe Looking forward to more pictures!
  4. Hi, I'm back from moving house today! Fwah...ahockz...either you woke up very early to check renotalk or you're just going to bed... Thanks everyone for all your very encouraging words! I am flattered that my home design has inspired some of yours. More importantly however, I hope to share my mistakes so that you take note and hopefully it doesn't happen to you too. I got many useful tips and advice from fellow forumers here during my reno process so I guess it's just right for me to do the same. I am now sitting on my nice comfy bed, typing away on my laptop..hehe It's a wonderful feeling, being in your own home... don't really know how to describe it...I guess words don't do it justice. Haha...you're right mwerkz, open house on fri is a lousy choice...my bad... Anyway, if anyone would like to drop by for a visit, you are most welcome! I love having guests over, feels like my uni days when I stayed out with a bunch of friends and we had people over almost every other day! New found freedom!! Hooray!! Hb and I went out today to buy a few household appliances...will take photos to show you all tmr ok? Goodnight!
  5. Don't say steal lah... say 'inspired'...haha I like your black laminate better than mine... next time...I should cut down on the floral designs...I realised it's too much and really not me... Did your ID help you drill hole through the table for your computer wires to go through? By the way, I LURVE your black quartz tiles! I am 'inspired' to do it for my next house...whenever that may be... So.... does that make us even?
  6. Wow! Your house looks fabulous! Just like something out of a interior design magazine! Great job!!
  7. Congrats on your completed home! I must say you got some unique carpentry designs there... the brown colour does make it look very cosy!
  8. I find the 2-tone interesting... it visually elongates the living room and uses the tiles to separate the spaces... it's a cool idea if you ask me... I would even go as far as choosing two floor tiles with very different textures...one smooth and one rough to make it look even funkier! Hee My only concern is whether the ceiling colour can be almost like the floor tile colour... you will need both to be coordinated in order to achieve the effect shown in your drawings...so I would probably check out both tiles and paint colour at the same time to make sure
  9. Hi pinkpetter, got your keys liao? Keep the photos coming...now my place done...so only can droolz at other ppl's nice nice designs...hehe
  10. Hi, Just out of curiosity, how much did Haier charge you for your reno? And I think your MBR is alright... just hang a nice painting and it will do... wallpaper is ex...but I guess it's what you like lah hehe
  11. Tomorrow is my official move-in date! Yay! Auspicious hour: 9 - 10am Open house all day so interested can come look see...hehe
  12. Hi klipp-klapp, My glass backing had to be intstalled in 2 pieces. The bottom is a long piece that is rectangular in shape and extends from one end of the solid surface top to the other. The other piece is a smaller one which goes directly behind the hood. If you look closely at mine, there is a gap too but it is not obvious from a distance because black silicon was used to fill up the gaps. Anyway, you should get your ID to change the glass since it's the wrong colour.
  13. hmm.. ah.. I dun hv any white acrylic lights ah.. Haha...sorry if I confused you. My second sentence was talking about the white rectangular acrylic lights youwanted to get but didn't in the end cos they don't fit your house design.
  14. Light switches for the living rm... i think i need to do labelling le... keep pressing wrong switch.. Haha...I also like you..keep pressing the wrong one...I have 2 sets of triple gangway switches near the main door and after like 3 weeks, I'm still getting them wrong! Arrghh... I think I must label them also...Haha
  15. Yeah...anyway there's already a hole for the drainage pipe...so another hole won't make any difference... And for the record...i really don't like packing and unpacking stuff...
  16. Hi pinkpetter... saw your lighting points layout...well thought out! For electrical sockets, always plan for more than what you think you will need. Install double or triple gangway sockets instead of single ones... this is a decision which i didn't make for some of my sockets which in hindset I thought I should have done.
  17. Love that ceiling! Gorgeous! Do you have to pull the curtains everytime you want to watch tv? What about the windows at the top which there are no curtains for...will light entry there interfere with tv watching?
  18. Thanks everyone for your compliments and well wishes. I'm really happy to see my house done and a pleasure to share my joy with you all! Junxian, I totally understand that feeling...I was like so excited during the reno process and would find every opportunity to go see how the house was transforming...hehe...anyway, your house is lovely too! very bright colours on the walls! Haha...porkypig, you have a good memory! I won't forget the curtains...dun worry. Andrew from MGL came over to take measurements last Sunday so the curtains should be ready in a few weeks. There are also lots of other pieces of furnishings which we haven't bought...most important of all..the TV! Haha...waiting for SITEX on 27 Nov... Anyway, my mom spotted something 'wrong' in one part of my kitchen. Some advice for those who are making suspended kitchen cabinets.... See the kitchen sink pic below? The bottom white PVC hose should be easily removable in the event of a clogged sink as dirt accumulates in it. However, because the cabinets have been shortened to make it look suspended, the PVC hose now touches the base of the cabinet and cannot be unscrewed out in the event of a clogged sink... The solution? Not sure yet though... told my ID already but likely she has to cut a hole through the cabinet base.
  19. I agree with mwerkz, the kitchen base for the suspended cabinet should be solid and not hollow inside...it has to be strong enough to support the weight of your cabinets and later on, the things you put inside.
  20. More pictures! Before 3D Study Table and Bookshelf 3D MBR Feature wall Before 3D MBR toilet 3D Walk-in-wardrobe Before 3D Glass Divider at Study Room Ok... I've never really thought of this moment... all I can say is..."That's all Folks!" There's no more reno pics for me to update...until my next home that is...hehe Anyway, will still try to put up small updates on various furnishings. Feel free to ask me anything. So as a parting shot, I shall pen down my most pertinent thoughts right now from this reno process: 1. I have a great husband who supported me all the way...mentally, physically and financially 2. It's a humbling process...to set up your own home...I thought it would have been easy but I was wrong 3. Enjoy your home, every inch of it...t belongs to no one else but you
  21. Hi, pinkpetter is correct. It just slides open halfway, no folding.

  24. Sorry I haven't been updating for a while...been busy packing, moving then unpacking...plus buying all sorts of small items for furnishing...the process has just started and there's still A LOT to go... man...I never realise I have SO MUCH stuff!.... Some new fixtures in the house to share: My 4ft tank for the green fellow you see below...he is 4.5 years old Earlier I had a problem with the HDB bi-fold doors which when opened would knock against my vanity counter in the toilet. Problem solved with this set of glass sliding doors...
