In my opinion i think some of the items in ur quote looks pretty ok the ones that i feel is high is the quote for your 4.5 ft tv wall and tv console. 4.5ft hor is quite small leh. is it becos of the layout of your place? if not then see whether can negotiate for an additional 1-2 ft. your storage full ht cabinet in kitchen is not part of the main kitchen cabinets? got floor plan to see or not huh?

no need to be shy de, in total i approach around 7 IDs/contractor for quote. 5 of them submitted. 2 no returns. I just tell those that submitted that I have decided to go along with the lowest quote. They offer to counter propose but when they see my quote they tell me they can't match so they know liao lor.

great progress there. AJ if u are using piano white do seriously consider solid core for obvious areas. otherwise hor the black joint line will really stand out. but then again if u dun mind seeing the joint line, u sort of get use/immune to it after awhile.

i suggest after painting but before flooring. After painting - so that the back of the air con unit, trunking all will be painted. Before flooring so that the air con contractor won't scratch ur floor. just a suggestion

i think it's fine for them to visit. If quote is within ur budget - Bravo!! if not just tell them nicely that the quote they submitted is above your budget and if u have already decided to go with someone else, tell them that u have decided to appoint someone else who can work within ur budget and thanks them for taking time to serve u lor. so far none of the IDs i rejected turn nasty lah. if fact a couple were pretty nice. Like Steven from Ideal House and another ID (the name just escape me..) from Home Success both offer to help me look through ah soon's quote to make sure no hidden cost and make sure materials are fine when they know that ah soon quoted me way below their price. So, there are still nice and sincere IDs around de.
