  1. But the drawback is that I notice my washer will "grrrung grrung grrrung" heavily at the 800rpm spin for Duvet. Hi, the sound u mention is that the washer is trying to find the balancing before it starts its spin, after which it will spin more quietly!Because the duvet with water will cause imbalance. However if a heavier duvet of more than 1 kg imbalance, u will not b able to spin as the counterweight are concrete n cant support more than 1 kg imbalance! Only the miele can support up to 2kg imbalance!
  2. Hi Jane, For all my distrust of the so called "guru' of lg washers here( u know who u r), I must try to b abit more subjective and fair! a warranty is a warranty! If they give u a 10 yr motor warranty, unless the company deemed it a wear and tear, or users negligence, they should and will honour it! They won't tarnish their name or risk a class action law suit, like the one they had in the states which I've published in another thread( that's another story) , by not honouring the warranty! But bear in mind the fine prints on the warranty, because unlike a guarantee, a warranty comes with certain terms and conditions!
  3. I have no intentions of picking on other brands or other users of other brands! I apologize if I did! This is regrettably just an example of what u can do if u want to be poison-minded and fault-finding in natural! This thread was started by me, to highlight forumners that Miele is not as expensive as 1 might think, n not to say that ya, u can only buy Miele, the rest of the brands are lousy and a waste of $$ to buy! If i want, I can just find all the Lg complaints on the net and post in the Lg thread and spoil Mr Cromo's reputation as a gd "advisor" on Lg's washers! But i refrained from that. Im reluctant to do this actually, it makes me feel bad, but a pity mr cromo here feels otherwise! And to all other forumners, if u have any queries on Miele here, feel free to post, ignore the slight warring here! Shall do my utmost to reply in my free time!Btw, there is a Miele warehouse sale on 18/12 to 19/12 at their warehouse! I'm not sure if its like the one they do last yr whereby only display sets and old models are sold, or they might have new models! details below! Event : Miele Warehouse Sale 2009 Location: 23 Serangoon North Ave 5 BTH Centre 2nd Floor Date : 18 – 19 Dec 08 Time : 10.00AM – 6.00PM Admission: Free
  4. You see, i think Mr Cromo is the only one who has issues with Miele or urs humbly , here in this thread! Maybe my blind faith irked him or whatsoever.. But as I said, to publicize a complain by a blogger makes him so excited!! If I have to stoop so low as him, hmm... Do I need to google on Lg reviews to follow suit?? No its bad.. No its childish.. aargh... lets just see!!! Oh my, what is this!!!! A class action law suit against LG from New York consumers who bought Lg machines!!!! Is this worst?? http://www.gslawny.com/lawyer-attorney-1275738.html LG Front-Loading Washing Machine Class Action Lawsuit In November of 2007, Giskan Solotaroff Anderson & Stewart filed a class action lawsuit against LG Electronics USA, Inc ("LG"), on behalf of all customers who have purchased LG front-loading washing machines that have exhibited mold or mildew under normal use. I. Plaintiff's Factual Allegations As set forth in the complaint, lead Plaintiff alleges, on behalf of a class of similarly-situated consumers, that LG sold washing machines that it knew or should have known were defective and unreliable. II. Relief Sought The class action complaint specifically seeks: (1) to enjoin LG from continuing is deceptive and unlawful business practices; (2) to require LG to repair or replace the defective washing machines; and, (3) the disgorgement of all profits accrued as a result of LG's sale of these defective machines. III. The Proposed Class Plaintiff seeks to represent a class consisting of all individuals who purchased, on or after October 24, 2001, at retail price and for personal use, LG front-loading washing machines that have exhibited mold or mildew under normal use. IV. Recent Developments On May 6, 2008, Giskan Solotaroff Anderson & Stewart, along with co-counsel, filed a Consolidated Amended Complaint on behalf of all persons and entities residing in the United States who purchased a front-loading automatic washing machine from LG. The Consolidated Amended Complaint can be reviewed by clicking here. Defendant LG moved to dismiss the Complaint. On February 3, 2009, Judge Faith Hochberg (D.N.J.) denied defendants' motion, thereby allowing the case to go forward. For a copy of the judge's decision, click here. Plaintiffs are proceeding with the case and are in the process of obtaining documents from LG.
  5. Mr cromodora here has been having nothing but brickbats over the miele 1 yr warranty n chose to sidestep the quality of miele! In due respect, everybody is entitled to his own opinions. But any like-minded person will know that he is indeed a Big Lg Liar who raves bout any complains of miele if he notices 1! The internet is so full of forums, blogs and opinions... If I really want to scroll, i can find a million anti Lg postings if I want to. But I don't have the time, and its foolish to do so too! So Nothins perfect! For the kind of budget, Lg has a market to serve! For a korean brand, I also think its more innovative than, lets say samsung! So Mr cromo, if ur intention is to enter a niche market and to convince buyers who's willing to spend $$ on quality, u're way out of hand! To slam miele alone, based on its local warranty is absurb! Ya, so if Miele gives 2 yr warranty, does it make them a better machine? An Lg washer/dryer can go from $1.6k 2 yrs ago to $699/= now! Then how much is a cost price of this machine? So does it mean those initial buyers 2 yrs back were being ripped by the company? N uses the profits to cover the warranty? Believe me guys, Mr cromo must be either a big LG salesman thats jealous of miele's superior standing in the market, or his head been hurt by a miele killer litter down the block!! Personal attacks i try to avoid, but when I seee postings that r so ignorant and short-sighted, it makes me laugh! On hindsight I never should have started this thread, if I knew such postings will be forthcoming! Since I've seen Miele now retailing in the main electrical stores now, thought its a gd idea for some folks who's never heard of this brand, to raise awareness on their quality. Little did I know there r so many fake salespersons, acting as genuine advisors, giving "well thought of advices" !!
  6. Ya, there are many detractors here who just can't find more reasons to hate miele, refreshing to see this! And mr leafania here has posted the above blog here and to sg brides miele page as well!! Hmmm, well maybe it would ignite a wholesale rush to refund miele products!! lol... And to Mr cromo, Ya, Miele only gives 1 yr warranty, so its not as gd as its supposed to be, because of this!! LG is better, 10 yrs motor warranty, 2 yrs parts warranty!! Yeah....I better stop, or I need to write to miele to pay me to defend their reputation!! haha
  7. I haven't seen the model u mentioned! How much did u pay? I'd rather get the fully made in germany models! U can actually get them for around $400! u see, miele has actually launched their shanghai showroom few yrs back and are now aggressively marketing in China! They even built a factory in china for the few models. I hope the models are brought in by miele themselves, because its not in their website when i tried to check it! In any case, hope it works well for u,... The dustbags are 4.5 litre each, 9 layer stretchable spun fibre. a box of 4 costs $28, with 2 filters inside. It lasts slightly more than a yr for a box! Remember to change the filters once a yr!
  8. This is the most interesting bout Miele! In sg, the biggest models are the little Giants, a semi-commercial machine in stainless steel that loads up to 6.5kg! Its the world's most expensive at $8k!It needs a 20 amp power to operate! It has the biggest drum dimension of 80 litres capacity! But why does miele sell them as 6.5g whereas brands with cheaper materials n smaller drum capacity sell theirs as 8. 9. or even 10kg? Simple, there is the miele pledge of durability and quality that plays a part! Even though it uses cast iron counterweights, shock absorbers, they have determined that stating a bigger dry load for their big capacity is detrimental to the efficiency of the machine for 20yrs! It also reduces the tumbling effect of the honeycomb, if a bigger dry load is stated! Its always interesting to see ignorant sales ppl outside slamming about Miele's 6kg load capacity when u can buy a cheap machine costing less than 1k for 8 kg capacity! The Only thing is that they can't assure u the gentle laundry results n durability of the machines. Imagine this, plastic outer drum, concrete counterweights, wash load of 8 kg,compared to stainless steel outer drum, cast iron counterweights, 6kg load capacity? In which case, i don't think it will cost miele alot if they build a bigger drum, state a bigger load, to satisfy everyone! They have been building washers for 110 yrs, it must mean alot to them that they chose not to otherwise!
  9. I'm not sure if all wsher has this function, but I'm certain my miele does not have it! In sg especially, the water is soft and limescale built up is unlikely, so i don't think any special agent is required!Metallic smell is due to new machine or when the water that has been left over from the machines origin testing sources... yup, low suds is a must for front loader , as too much suds, esp hot suds will spoil the drum! I've been using front loader for 30 yrs, this is the only thing I did to maintain my miele washer!
  10. Washer-dryers r more unreliable compared to separate! When both motors of washer n dryers are cramped in 1 machine, it gives rises to technical problems in future! It takes a longer time for a washing n drying cycle for a combi! If u wash a full load, u need to take out half a load! Its not so much energy efficient compared to a separate washer n dryer!! Most importantly, the drying results will not b as gd s separates! Yup, though Sg has free sunshine most times of the year, some laundry are not ideal for line drying, eg; woolens n heavy synthetics.. Wool will stretch if line dry for too long.. If u have expensive towels, if u forgotten to keep after a long day in the sun, it will be hard n too crisp! For silk n delicates if u line dry indoors, it will be more ideal if a gd dryer uses low temp to dry abit first, then line dry a short while!! In short, whether to purchase a dryer anot, i think it depends on how important ur clothes and laundry means to u!!
  11. What do u mean by tub-cleaning? If U r using front-load washer, its to clean the holes of the drum ya? If so, then it depends on whther u use the hot water function regularly? If u use hot water regularly, there is not so much of a need. If u seldom use hot water, its recommended to do an empty hot wash of 95deg every 3 to 6 mths, without any load that is! Because some of u uses softener which have oil or waxes, that may cause mould in the long run to stay in the washer.
  12. They forgot to add that only a miele washer can wash a Big Pillows because they are the only ones in the market to be able to withstand a load imbalance of more than 2 kg! All other brands cannot withstand load imbalance of more than 1kg! That means once u soak the pillow with water other machines will not be able to spin due to the imbalance load and the reason why the miele can is because of the 2 cast iron counterweights on the front and 1 on the rear axle of the machine, adding 50kg to the 100kg weight! That's why only miele has a pillows programme on their washers! that's quality! Try this at home, chances are, ur washer will try very hard to spin, but after few minutes it will give up!!!
  13. Oh, that was a nice advert wasn't it? haha, i went for the 2 days ck tang 10% sale, the latest miele homecare package of washer n dryer was totally sold out!! The sales lady said 20 sets in a day till she can't eat!! Amazing considering its still $3600 after discount for the pair!! So Miele is still value for money!! never mind what others detractors say

  15. http://www.nihonken.org/forum/comments.php...4822&page=1 This is a webpage on a dog lovers group, and it shows a similar model to the miele cat and dogs! Though the model's name is not the same, its almost identical to the miele cats and dogs! Hope this helps!
  16. Haha I think u read the james dyson books! actually this topic has been discussed earlier in another thread.. Most users would second the miele and the cats and dogs is a very popular model in europe. I would definitely recommend the miele as I'm a true blue miele fan! If u have used their products, u will be the same as me! However, dyson vacs has its benefits too, or else they would not be able to be the miele main rivals in the vacuum market! But they are a bagless model while miele always believed in disposable bags. It depends on what u r trading off. If quality and ease of use is ur call, den go for the mie;e! If bagless enticed u more, go for the dyson(assume the clouds of dust flying around while emptying the bin dun put u off)! But in my opinions, the recent which? consumer magazine survey in Uk rate dyson poorly for long term reliabilty compared to miele!Maybe due to the fact now its vacs r made in malaysia compared to Miele which is made in germany! I read u were enquiring bout Maytag washers too? If I'm not wrong, maytag is bankrupt in the states and locally, has been changing dealers for sometime!Even their italy made models are OEM, made by others.. So pls check carefully! In my opinion, Bosch washers are not bad, not made in china, but thailand, and the higher end, Germany! But its vario soft drums,(alternative to miele's honeycomb) are a bit rough to handle delicates.. Anyway consider ur budget, thread carefully! Check on the web, get feedbacks.. U b surprised u can find out alot bout them thru forums and help sites.. Anyway if can stretch ur budget, go for the best, buy a Miele! They have a homecare promotion that is very value for $$! The best denki grand electrical sale just advertised a free miele vaccum if u buy the homecare washer plus dryer set at $3998!!
  17. Hi, just wondering if the reply is too late.. Seriously, miele is considered the least electricity and water guzzling brand in the market, what with the company's obsession with environment sustainability n concerns, mayb due to the german background. Its 47l max if u wash a full load, and 1.02kw per hr if u wash to an extent of cottons 60 deg. Miele is the best ur $$ can buy, n its truer now for the homecae series, s its more of a complete series programs for the home, compared to the previous promotions.. Any other times, u r going to pay 6k upwards for a miele washer n dryyer. Warranty and servicing issue is the least u will b concerned as the S.E.A hq is in sg and most of sg's most premium hotels and residences r using miele appliances! Think Ritz carlton, st regis, sentosa cove etc.. Sceptics may say nobody needs appliances that last 20 yrs.. But believe me , u will not change to another brand if urs last half as long! Read up long and hard on this brand.. U will be amazed and respect it for its stringent quality control!
  18. there is a new model now! u can check in the miele website!its the homecare series, package $3998! It has new features previously unavailable like delay start, pillows, down filled items proofing and curtains! Haha Irman, if u know miele, the prices r controlled and won't come down.. Think LV, prada.. lol. If they do, they woild'nt be the premium brand they claim they are. Personally,I have never seen it happening.. But u can continue to hope!! Any case, its a limited edition as with the last promo series, which have come n gone like the wind!! Even the display sets left standing have all been grabbed up as soon as the last new sets are gone! So if u are thinking, better grab it fast!
  19. Wet and dry is stromgly not recommended unless u r using specifically for a small wet area, or air con cleaning. For general cleaning, sucyion is low, unhygenic and also flimsy n big. It won't last u more than 2 yrs, i'm certain!
  20. U sure? i've never seen such cheap models from miele before? They emphasized themselves as a no discount brand.. If its the case u better grab it!! But ask first is it a display set?
  21. There are various discussions on vacs previously. U can look thru the forums. But just a short one, wet/dry vacuums r karcher. Ideal for picking up liquids n dry vacuum. But suction very low n low lifespan. Or do u mean water filtration vacs? That's a different thing. Only rainbow i think can last. The rest forget it!! But i think the most hygenic is dry and the ideal choice is to go for a miele, made in germany, supposed to last 20yrs and certified for allergy buyers. Its the brand to go if u want quality. It uses a 9-layered fibrespun dustbag and the only brand 100% sealed . That means no fine dust will ever escape the vacuum.!!
  22. The new panasonic washer's claim is 44l itres based on cottons eco wash which is a programme formulated by themselves. The standard cotton water consumptions can go up to 75l. Manufacturers these days will always use clever marketing tactics to claim optimum results, features, favourable comparisons etc.. Most however will have a * , then some fine print below, which suggests otherwise. It's not wrong, just clever. For eg; Brandt claims to have an opti 45min wash.. But a look at the manual tells you its for half load. Singapore Nea tick ratings are based on each manufacturer's test reports not their own testing, unlike europe and america. For eg; a cheap Fisher n Paykel dryer with 60l drum capacity, 5kg load uses 3.6kw per hour, given 3 ticks. A more expensive Bosch dryer with 100 lit capacity,8kg using 4.4kw per hr given 3 ticks. A very expensive miele dryer, 6kg, 100 litre using 3.6l, given 3 ticks. Every information is available excapt size of the drum. U have to use ur own measuring tape n use drum cylinder formula to calculate the sizes. The manufacturer's hide all these info. So do u believe that a $500 Fisher n paykel dryer is more energy efficient than a miele or a bosch? Or why an 8kg bosch dryer is the same size as a 6kg miele dryer? Same for washer. My fellow cromodora frnd here is right that panasonic compares actually to a top loader, and the design of the drum offers little advantages to saving water. But i do think the 3D sensing feature is quite interesting. I wonder what technology is used as I'm not familiar with that. A plus point is the inverter motor, shared by electrolux, is quiet, using FC motor, if I'm not wrong. But I think, now that panasonic makes their front loader in china, is a serious minus point. But overall, i think panasonic makes the longest lasting top loader in the market, but I'm not sure about their front loader credibility though, as I said, experience counts!
  23. Nilfisk, in my opinion is considered not bad, filtration is comparable to miele. But if robustness or manuevarability is an issue, then a miele is lighter and moves better with it's 360 deg rubberised wheels. A dyson is noisy and clumsy. But they have their fans, like miele. I'm a hygiene freak, so the idea of emptying a bin full of dust, and cleaning the bin is not for me! I prefer the 9- layer fibre sealed-proof dustbag a miele offers. And if u study the marketing aspects of a dyson, it offers no running costs as an enticement. The hepa filter is supposed to be permanent and needs only to be washed. I don't buy that because if the hepa filter is washed numerous times, the material should deteoriate after some time. Miele customers swear at its 20 odd yrs of service, but i hardly heard of dyson customers using 1 for more than 5 yrs without replacing a new one. The which? consumer reports based in uk gives dysons unreliable ratings, though it has improved recently. Miele is quiet, made in germany, with certified 100% sealed hepa filtration when fitted with a hepa filter. No other brands attains that certification and even the highly rated allergybuyersclub.com highly recommended them for allergy sufferers. But if bagless is ur call, then dyson is probably the best with its cyclone technology, though i'm not a fan!
  24. hmm.... my opinions... use a robot at ur own risk...
