Hi Carl, Don't mean to be rude. $388 for a 3-seater sofa is a very very cheap price for a sofa. The defects on your sofa would actually be acceptable. The reason the company can only provide a 6-month warranty on the wooden frame is that the lifespan of the sofa is probably less than a year. My advice is that if you really have a very restrictive budget go to Salvation Army and buy a second hand sofa, you may be better off.

Good is not cheap, cheap is not good. The items on bed specialist are so cheap that the factory can't even afford to do QC.

A good sofa will last more than 5 years. However, leather is a sensitive material, it is very hard to differentiate product defect and abuse. If you are as good as you claim you are then you will have to give customers the benefit of the doubt when they report a defect. You will end up replacing a lot of sofas. If you argue that it is abuse then the 5 year warranty will be pointless.

Even if it is not termites just beetles still bad new, I am glad that EL is giving you immediate service.

Funny, I wish I could look forward 5 years. Any company that provides a 5 year warranty on leather upholstery will have a customer service nightmare in 5 years.

Sooks, Please get a pest control company into your home immediately. If you have termites coming out of your sofa, they will migrate to other items already in your home. Waiting is not really an option if you have termites.

Not all retailers are cheats, not all upholsterers are saints. I think tarring everyone with the same feather doesn't make sense. I think it is important for all consumers to be careful, I suggest to everyone to not commit to buying anything without taking some time to cool off and make a rational decision.

Top/split actually not big deal lah. If visually cannot tell the difference then top split as good as 100% top grain.

Actually, it sounds like a good deal. Just make sure they write down top-grain leather on the order and you should be fine.

What brand is it?

Get a new sofa. Upholstery will cost more than the sofa. You got 3 good years for $600, already very good value for money. The current state of the sofa has nothing to do with maintenance PVC will look like this after 5 years.

Looks like the top coat is coming off. This is not supposed to happen best to go back to the people you bought from.

You may be better off getting a new sofa. If the leather was poor quality, there is no guarantee the rest of the sofa is of a decent quality.

PVC tends to be more stable.

It really depends on your weight. Memory foam becomes softer in the heat, so when the weather is warm you sink more into the mattress.
