  1. actually, my reno quite simple ..only tiling of 2 toilets and lotsa carpentry. Tilings almost done (90%). which took quite long cos we were quite particular abt the workmanship here and specifically want it to be done nicely and warned the ID that we will be super picky abt it. thats why the Shifu took quite a long time. and there will several issues with our MBR toilet cos as can be seen from our 3D pic, it has got a (1)hollow block wall; (2) false ceiling and (3) the shower area's floor tile and yes i mean TILE, just one giant kick-*** single tile surrounded by white pebble stones. these 3 combo have caused many technical issues to arise especially the "running" of the water in the shower area to ensure no flooding when we bath. and as for carpentry, we haven finalised the drawings and details yet. again, super picky here. haha as for the schedule, i din really keep track of it but i just took a look, pretty much on schedule unless carpentry side mess up big time. then all my furniture and electronics must delay and hopefully still can move in slowly before hungry ghost's month. we wun be doing a 100% move in at one go though, cos my new hse is only like 3 min drive between my current place and my wife's current place, forming a triangle of 3 mins! so we will be moving stuff bit by bit, as and when we need anythings, just go home take. haha...
  2. Hi Ivy, no worries abt the tv console...haha...glad it turned out nice...but i agree with you that a slightly bigger one will look better....imo, more grand looking...hehe...tats why my console from 8 feet to 9 feet now 10 feet...haha... and hor, for the spray gun beside your toilet bowl right, would it be better if it's placed lower? cos its like taking away attention from your nice toilet bowl and tiles.... and for the box up in toilets, they use a different kind of material (i think calcium silicate or something) rather than solid plywood. This will withstand the humidity in the toilet, further more, if u box it up and clad it in tiles, it will be totally impervious (almost, i think, hehe) to water. My MBR toilet's pipes are box-ed up and clad in tiles but not my common toilet though. hehe. Of cos, i also did consider the fact that if got problem, must hack up the tiles and box-up to reach the tiles, but (with fingers super duper crossed), i have lived in my current hdb flat for as long as i have remembered, and in the ancient past (70's n 80's) when steel (or cast iron) pipes were used, yes there were some minor leakage which were harmless, and when the pipes were converted to the current PVC ones, there are no leakages at all. So i dun think there will be any problem at all, imho. but of cos if u decide not to box-up, i think u shld paint it white and decorate it with decals. Paint it black wun make it less obvious, in fact, it will make it more obvious BECAUSE the paint use on the pvc pipes are not matt finishing but GLOSSY finishing (bordelac paint or something). so the glossy shine will just scream out to the toilet user, " hi, i am a pipe *BLINK BLINK*"...of cos, just my own opinion hehe...
  3. haha..so funny..no more pocket ah....then must buy more clothes (with pockets) before GSS ends.
  4. Hi Ivy, nice TV console :notti: and where did u get ur cutlery tray?
  5. postform laminate means can bend one issit?
  6. Harvey at Millenium walk....i think it is at least $3k+....did not take note at the price, cos the moment i saw it, i EXCLAIMED to my wife..." we gotta inform risis about this !" and it so so so so so fit your pink kitchen....your kitchen will look like a scene out of Pleasantville...haha...so retro...cool!
  7. Hi risis, have u bought your fridge? cos i was at harvey norman, and saw a Bosch fridge, those retro 80s type....it was featured in one of those reno magazines...but it was in red. the one i saw was, *gasp* in lollypop stripes!!!! its so you, i swear!
  8. hehe..things have been moving slowly....no carpentry up yet....past 2 weeks have been all abt tiling...thats why nothing to update really.....but got one big ugly problem with the common bathroom's entrance...maybe i will go take pic and show all here... past week have been abt spending money only...haha...went to buy most of the elctronics.....like Samsung Series 8 LED TV, a Denon home entertainment system, Hitachi Fridge etc....pocket burnt....*gasp*
  9. sure need to top up...at least for my case...cos the difference can be $200 for a piece of laminate...
  10. yeah..i guess u are right....looks like gonna add more money le....argh....
  11. yeah, i went thru the same torture too! but everything is falling in place nicely now for you! yayyy! thanks for asking! hehe
  12. congratulations.... and how much did the store room rack cost u? from where?
  13. wah! looking nice.... i am doing a bomb shelter feature wall very similar to yours too ...but in white colour.... can i know wat material is being used? solid plywood or MDF (medium density fibreboard)? and the colourings are spray painted or clad in laminates? thanks a lot!
  14. Reno Diary for week 22/06/09 to 28/06/09 Finally end of the week...what a busy week me and wifey had, running around singapore for reno stuffs. First, we spent one whole afternoon snugging in cold cold Goodrich, choosing wallpapers for our MBR. Then, we spent one whole day (10am to 7pm) with ID choosing paint colours for the house and laminates for the carpentry. Next, we spent several evenings visiting, Lookz, Universal Union, Hoe Kee and Eestilo, trying to buy all our toilet stuffs; and its not even completed yet. Saturday was spent in the new house waiting for deliveries of the wash basin, WCs and misc toilet stuff. Particularly like my blink blink Damixa stuffs for the MBR. And today, we spent one afternoon in Air buying our dining table and dining lights. Wifey made a surprising choice of forgoing the ultra blink crystal dining lamp and opted for the Air black lamp shade which cost lesser, so, good for me, yayyy. In between the week, we went Robinson, Taka and Tangs on various nights to get all the misc stuffs from GSS like chinese wok, knives, bedlinen, utensils etc. And i broke a glass candleholder which cost me $55 ..****....luckily the aroma-candle still can use.... in the end, still managed to teach wifey how to play snooker (after nights of watching a TVB snooker show) on Sat night till 3 am and catch Transformer movie somewhere in between the week....phew....shag out
  15. icic...did u do any tiling works? if so, shld have acid wash.....if no tiling only carpentry, then i guess no acid wash....
  16. normal range laminates are around $50+...solid cores can range from $160+ to $200+....so have to top up a lot....just like the metallic laminate range..... maybe next hse...dun buy build in furniture....no joint lines...haiz.
  17. hi skyblue! so good, u still remembered me..just mentioned to my ID today about your tv console. hehe we went to choose our laminates for our carpentry and hse paint colour scheme and spent the whole day with the ID....pretty headache... reno started on 22 june....till now, the MBR toilet wall tiles are 70% up, common toilet still bare...false ceiling in MBR up and partition wall for the WIW up....still a long way i think....later in the noon going to new hse to take delivery of some of the toilet accessories.... realised also tat i have big problem with the MBR toilet shower system. we bought a damixa bath-shower mixer and damixa hand shower set...and this two will work very well together....but we are gonna have a concealed overhead rain shower and realised we have no tap for it!...the damixa bath shower mixer can only control the hand shower and the bath tap but there is no tap in the world that can control 3 things, ie, the rain shower too. so might have to install an ugly diverter underneath the damixa mixer to divert water between the hand shower and rain shower...plumbing is gonna be an headache... many other headahches too....haha..sorry to bore u.... hope u are enjoying ur new hse and having lotsa fun in it...
  18. alamak...another case of white tv console with no solid core and black lines.......i just chose my white laminate for my tv console today too....so sad...
  19. yup, i have this statement as well, it is on the very first page. and one of the items was Acid wash and general cleaning. so i dunnoif the "whole house cleaning" and "general cleaning" refer to the same thing. do u have "general cleaning" under one of ur items?
  20. wow...thanks a lot for ur effort...i have a clearer picture now
