yes, luck is the word. just like forumer pinkpetter who renovated with ah soon, he finished her reno within a month... so she is kind of lucky... somemore whether ur quote is the cheapest anot, still have to wait until u finish reno then u will know... cus i have friends who in the midst of reno, alot of charges add on (no choice must pay that kind), is way above market prices one...

my parents are using sanyo system 3.. it is having alot of problems..!! within the first 2 years, 1) timer problem (one of the aircon not cold at all) and paid $150 to repair 2) captube choke problem and paid $350 to repair it.. according to my aircon serviceman, this two problem is vvvv common for sanyo aircons!! beware!!! really really regret taking this sanyo!!!!!!!!

dun stress dun stress too much... all reno have stress one... just that, i rather pay less n face the stress, than to pay MORE n still face the stress... yes i will step in to watch begining and middle and end... cus if they use cheap paint, the smell also very strong, easy to tell

well the point now is, if u want to save like $10K and can expect to wait 3months or more, then u can engage ah soon... at the moment is like this. because ah soon also handle hdb project, which to too much to handle already. he is going to do away with HDB and concentrate in doing house owners reno... only then, his HO date can be not soo long... i am not siding with ah soon, just that you have to balance the savings vs the time taken to wait... is it worthwhile to u? can u afford to wait?

if ur house is very old, u should consider painting sealer. the ici people said that if u house very old and to have the best paint effect n no peeling off, best is to apply their white base sealer... maybe u can ask ah soon?

is ur existing colour white? just to share from what i found out: my cousin is a part time painter, he told me no matter what kind of walls, white base must be applied so as to have the best effect on the new paint.... i also called nippon n ICI to check on this. no base paint, u still will get ur colour, but effect will never be as good as with white base coat. but it is good ur ID point out to u there is no base paint... u mus follow up closely on the reno... anything not right, get them changed, otherwise, waiting for rectifications will delay time also...

actually the u-home id who quoted me also didn't revert me until i call him 3 weeks later... imo, hardly ID firm price can match contractor one... so many mouth to feed, sales, showflat, advertisements...

Is ur house at blk 5xx? if yes, i happen to pop by n take a glance at ur tiling work..n that time i saw a worker painting one of ur rooms in yellow (ici -light and space) that's why prompted me to check my paint after seeing yours.... so i think they never use cheap paint for urs... cus cheap paint the smell is very very strong...

ur ID is u-home? i also got quote from them, was a sky high! they quoted me $60K the second highest among the 30 over quotes i have gotten... u r so lucky ur quote from u-home is slightly more expensive than ah soon!

i am intending to engage, wait for my house to finish, i will ask her to give me a quote... i heard she was telling me like for condos, the price was like about $300 a month.. also depends on any additional items like ironing service needed anot... if u keen, i pm u the number

The paint saga did not end and became more EXCITING! I thought it is rainbow already. Not knowing it is just the tip of the iceberg. When I visited my house in the afternoon, the painter told me he already finished painting 2 bedrooms using my desired DULUX ALL. When I wanted to look for empty pails of DULUX ALL, he told me he already throw away. Paint in the morning, afternoon already all throw away? So I told the painter, do not throw the living hall paint pails since he have not started painting. For my living hall paint, suddenly I see people delivering pails and pails of MAXILITE into my house. The painter then explain to me the MAXILITE is for painting base. However, the MAXILITE were DULUX ALL colours. They ain't white colours. Who on earth will use colour paint as BASE? Besides, my existing colours are all dark blue, orange, yellow kind of colours.. I will need white base and not colour base!! CONCLUSION: NOT ONLY THEY WANT TO SAVE THE WHITE BASE PAINT, THEY WANT TO SAVE THE COLOUR PAINT BY NOT USING DULUX ALL AND USED MAXIILITE THAT COST ONLY $25 FOR 7 LITRES.. They place some pails of DULUX ALL there as a smokescreen. HOW DO I KNOW???????? On the same day, I was annoyed and I wanted to go back to my house and check out if there is any DULUX ALL empty pails since they are painting my living hall in the afternoon. It was 8.30pm. I saw someone at my doorstep with a trolley, wanting to remove the DULUX ALL paint (un-used) and the used up MAXILITE that they had used to paint my hall. I told the person nicely, leave the empty pails behind (as I wanted to confront AH SOON). He said NO WAY and SNATCHED the pail of paint roughly away from me. I do not want to let go and we were basically like idiots snatching the paints like as if there are gold bars inside.!!?? Can u imagine a big build MAN doing this to a lady (myself)?? He shouted vulugarities at me, when my neighbours stood by the door to check out what happened, he shouted at my neighbour: "BAD LUCK!! U ROTTEN BAD LUCK TO HAVE SUCH A NEIGHBOUR!! UR DEEPAVALI DESTROYED BY YOUR ROTTEN NEIGHBOUR" (my neighbour was an indian) Apparently he drop the paint and left when i threaten to call the police... to be frank, a fight ALMOST break out. I really do not believe this could happen to me... paint is not a big sum of money... really.. i dunno what got into me but i basically really HATE CHEATERS. n CHEAT again and again... i told ah soon and he is very sorry (he says so) and he will repaint everything for me right in front of me. NOTE: if you are going to do your paint job, try not to quote my case...cus I already promised Ah Soon to close this matter but i still can't help it but to share with you guys here because I really do not wish you to be the next victim......(hope u dun play me out...) what i think u can do is, tell uncle or painter, u want to see the empty pails of paints and tell them do not discard. (actually the paint even from other contractors, paint is the easiest to cheat -unless u have the time to really monitor there while they were painting)
