Fans Of Afc (asian Food Channel)

Been subscribing this channel for little over 3 months and loving it! Have always loved to cook so this channel is now my favourite! Chefs I like on AFC are Jamie Oliver, Laura Caldel, Michael Smith, Hugh Fearnley and some others I can't recall right now.... Watching them cook just give me that yearning to step into the kitchen once again! Which is impossible now as the house is still under reno... *pout* -
gals! i just started an AFC thread.. Come come, join me to discuss about AFC! So we can return Umaisarah's thread to her! hehe.. Thread's here: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=31107

Hey all, we kind of started discussing about this channel at one of the forummers thread and I realised there are AFC fans out there just like me! So here is a thread dedicated to AFC so we can discuss about our favourite chefs or shows on AFC. But of course, as long as you are a cooking show fan or simply love to eat. you are welcome to chat with us as well!

Hi samgalz, thanks for asking. i didn't see your post until i tried to find my thread to update my reno progress! hehe. well, only 40% done.. will update in a while ya?

i don't do a lot of steaming la.. more grill, roast and bake... my MIL is the one using a lot of steaming, but i guess old folks still prepare the traditional steam over fire lor... i guess steam oven is a nice oven to have, probably won't use a lot.. even my simple microwave oven give by my nice GP also use once in a month nia... okay... then i'll stop drooling over the steam oven la..
-
hey moh guan, love your place leh! got party mood whenever i see the pix! i've always admired people who have the courage to do their house differently... nice work!
-
microwave can grill and roast? won't it be dry? i didn't try using microwave to cook before... just bought a conventional oven yesterday leh. and really thinking hard if i need a steamer. cos it cost 3 to 5 times more than my conventional oven leh... i want and want, but don't know what it does.... wahahah.

we subscribed anyway, cos it's like a premium channels for those Discovery channels, top up a bit only la..but no regrets. now the only two channels I watch are AFC and Discover Home & Health... Just watched "I didn't know I was pregnant" last night on DH&H. Mostly baby shows on this channel but as a mother, naturally drawn to such channels leh oh yeah, you should! watch jaime especially, cos his recipes are easy leh.. that time my hubby prepared roast chicken based on his memory from watching jaime and it was really delicious!! aiyo, everytime i see that host bite that bell pepper and smile after that, i just cringe inside me lor... buay tahan... bell pepper can eat raw, but i only eat them julienned and in my salads. bite like apple, no yet leh. When I first saw Laura on the show shots, i can't stand her too la.. but then i really find her cute.. cos she always seem so chirpy. Oh yeah, I like Chopped too. Get to see guys catty side leh. And really pity those who didn't know what to do in the kitchen. We tried a couple of Jaime's recipes and seriously, they are good! that kinda changed my whole perspective on food and now, I just LURRVVE wholesome foods prepared with fresh ingredients. can't wait to have my house done man, i miss cooking!! i watched ****'s kitchen for the first time last night. before that, I only watched the Kitchen's Nightmare. I just feel he's the nastiest person alive. bleh... hehe.. that's why you should sub to AFC! Can watch tv and then surf at the same time.. kekeke. Oops, think we digressed way out of topic here. Sorry Umaisarah... we should create a cooking thread huh.

I went KDK showroom yesterday... Not many fans to look at.. I love the series with V56Vk and Z60WS but I want black fans. Anyone know of any brands that has black fans, remote control, no light kit?
-
love the chefs on Iron Chef too! So inspiring!! But the host very wayang hor? creme brulee!! My favourite!
-
I like Michael Smith too, drooling at his walk in pantry lor... whoa... but sometimes, his recipes just doesn't kick off that inspiration leh... and his son don't like the food he prepared half the time.. kekeke.. so i guess not kid friendly la. anna olson's recipes are so wholesome, i love what she prepared on her shows, but then i find that she got problem describing her food leh... another one i like is Laura Calder. she's quite cute la... and then the low cuts she wears sometimes can see free show.. wahah! my favourite is still jaime... hey, i guess all of us here subscribed to AFC?

but too much curves at the bottom leh.. probably from eating too much of her own sinful food.. but she's sexy!

I bought Bosch HBN 331E2J yesterday from Mega Discount at $689 (includes GST and delivery)... Had wanted to get Brandt FE811 but salesperson kept telling me Bosch better leh. So I went ahead lor, since it's also well within my budget. haha. Btw, I just wonder how much it cost to get another grill tray? I prefer to bake cookies and cupcakes all at once rather than in batches leh. Can this Bosch oven I bought do this job well? If yes, then anyone knows where can I get the grill tray and how much is it?

i'm very inspired by jaime oliver and his extensive use of herbs in his recipes! told hubby when we bought this house, that i'm gonna plant all the herbs i use all the time... save me the trouble of going to supermarket to buy, and then have to discard cos i can't finish the whole pack!

Materials That U Regret Using/ Installing
Amy Choon replied to st002's topic in Home Maintenance & Repairs
i'm a fan of ikea, though not all their items la. Been using their utensils for 8 years, no rust at all, still in great condition!.. Billy bookcase CMI.. some of the wardrobes also CMI la, frying pan also not good.. but the shelvings very lasting.. mattress quite comfy also... i would say 80% of what i bought in ikea can last me for years. and for my old place, the following are the things that I really regret doing: 1) bird nest chandelier.. it was way too bright! and so difficult to clean... 2) night curtains for my hall, cos for 8 years, i probably use it only 4 times... i go for practical rather than asthetics... don't like to keep things i don't need. 3) design of the carpentery for my dining area.. colour don't match. design ugly. 4) using another room to create WIW. nice to have, but don't have also nvm... rather keep the room for other uses. -
wow... i also intend to grow some herbs since i use a lot of it when i cook. i must really check out the website already! and umaisarah, your house looks cosy la.....

wow, you've moved! congrats! can't wait to see the pix tonight!

For A 8 Years Old Girl
Amy Choon replied to wonderlee's topic in Pregnancy,Parenthood and Education Matters
yeah, i guess it's the difference between having girl and boy.... if i had a son, i think i wouldn't be so worried about him.. girl... no no la... i can't do it. i'd like my girl to be indepent too.. but not to the extend of having to leave her alone at home when she's still in lower primary. as long as she don't need me to fetch her things, feed, shower her, i'll be glad. your boy's in japan? learning jap as 3rd language? wow!! it must have been such an experience! -
