Let me try my best to quantify and differential their differences. I'm 100% sure the 2 Qis are different, at least, in the following ways: 1. TCM's Qi concept applies mostly WITHIN human body, but, there are "external Qi" as well (external factors, like change of weather, virus, bacteria, etc, it is called 邪气外侵). Chinese characters very "funny", whatever "bad" ones are called "邪", not necessarily meaning "evil". FS Qi deal with "environmental circumstances". 2. TCM Qis "travel" via "经脉" which the westerners still catch no ball what are "经脉". The travel of tcm Qis is according to the "相生相克" principles of wu xing. How FS Qi is "transported", via water/wind/road??? Anyhow "travel"??? 3. TCM Qis present only when there is human "live". No live no qi. Qi = live. FS Qi independent? HOW/WHEN does it exist and remain? 4. The different Qis within body is said to be "balanced and optimised" when one is in good health and have highest resistance to the external 邪气. FS Qi got "balanced" concept? I therefore said the FS Qi, at this present stage, is very "imaginary", or, bluntly put it: not well defined.
