Did some minor hacking today. The time, date and area to begin the hacking were advised by my fengshui master. Did some minor hacking as my contractor has yet to apply for hacking permit. Small portion of the ceiling board at the living room was removed. This is how it looks like: Now I know I can increase the height of my ceiling. Current height is only 2.5m which I find it too low. I'm now contemplating whether I should have a ceiling board that is of a height 3.2 to 3.5 or have a ceiling board that follow the 'slope' of the existing ceiling. My contractor has advised me to keep the ceiling height to not more than 3.2 as I will have problem cooling the whole place with even a 24K BTU.

I've been searching for a nice tiles to go along with the concept I have in mind, but somehow didn't manage to find one that I really like.I guess I will just have the toilet paint finish except the shower area. Since you have been using the toilet, is the epoxy flooring slippery when it is wet?

I like the way you light up the hall by using track lights. I guess those are halogen lights right? Do such lights make the whole place very warm? I'm thinkin of using such track light but my concern is energy consumption and also it will the room very warm. Did you custom made the dinning table? I like the stainless steel legs. yours must be those nice art deco building with open staircase right? I was hoping to get those, but then there were no one selling when I was looking for a house in Aug. how big is ur place? 3-room? I don't believe in getting ID to design my house. Went to one and total sum quoted by the ID firm was about $50K. Now I'm spending about $25K, which is like half the price. So you may just want to deisng the house yourself if you are on a tight budget. Otherwise you may just engage an ID to design the house for you as it will free up a lot of headache for u.

My 3D pictures definitely cannot be compared with those that churned out by IDs. Anyway, thanks!

I bought this unit cos the pipes are running from behind the wall instead of thru' the wall in the middle. So should not be an issue to hack.

Nope. Mine is on the top floor. Was thinking of increasing the height of the ceiling but then I'm concerned over the maintenance and also the money spent on a bigger capacity of aircon to cool the living area. Yes, I'll just be getting a contractor.I like bubble chair and egg chair but ex leh. Will see how first. If have money left, then maybe will get a nice chair for the cosy corner. Thanks. Most probably the cabling will go above the false ceiling. I dont want cabling to be looping around as it will look a bit messy.

COSY CORNER & LAUNDRY AREA - Laundry area will also be my store-room. There will be a sliding door to seal off this area. - Still looking around for a nice chair for my cosy corner.

The following are the 3-D designs that I have in mind for my house. Sorry for the poor artiste's impression as I did all these myself using Google Sketchup. LIVING ROOM - I personally dont like things that are common. So I decided to create a wall that has the raw look of the light-weight blocks and a red feature wall with white lines running across. Does anyone know how to light up the white lines? I'm thinking of putting in fluorescent lights but have no idea if that can be done. - About 8 to 10 suspended bulbs in the middle of the living room - Ceiling will be painted dark grey or black. A wall that showcases my favorite pictures taken by me. TOILET -With white mosiac throughout. Anyone know where I can get such mosaic? MBR - Simple design with raw wall as the backdrop and some suspended lamps at the side.

Did your contractor 'slice' the bricks into smaller pieces to create the feature wall?

wow... so cool!!! Save money on the tiles. hahaa... is it slippery? I'm thinking of doing something like this for my living room and perhaps balcony.

I like polished concrete flooring but I'm afraid not many contractors out there who can do a good job. Has anyone of you tried the concretre flooring and is happy with the workmanship?
