Hi Peeps, During the 1st appointment, the HDB officer will give the buyer and seller the 2nd appointment date. I understand that the 2nd appointment is usually 6-8 weeks from 1st appointment. If the HDB officer put the 2nd appointment 8 weeks from the 1st appointment date, the seller wanted a longer time like 10 weeks and the buyer wanted 6-7 weeks. The HDb officer will give how many weeks? The officer will give the final date or its up to the seller and buyer to decide?

therat: I think losing the deposit is better than they su ka su ka come disturb. Dont want to let my mum upset abt this issue (which if exist I may still be able to do sth), rather i buy the unit already then i LL cant do anything. Well, i still got one mth to observe the units... even if the seller's neighbour do borrow LS, the seller wont say one, if not how he sell his unit right. bepgof: ya very true. LS come disturb is not everyday affair but if got bad neighbour then sianzz.... the LS runner always come at night. Where got so much time to play with them. Better not give myself so much headache to buy a LS flat or LS neighbour flat unit la.

hi beggof i will be buying a unit in the mentioned blk. OTP exercised, now waiting for 1st appt... I wanted to see if there is any bro or sis here which happened to stay in the same blk.As i am happen to be around the vicinity yesterday i went to see see look look around the unit for any LS painting. I didnt see any LS painting at the floor of the unit i am buying but i notice something fishy on the wall of the 1st floor lift landing. i saw a very very faint painting/ writing on the lift landing wall on the neighbour unit of the flat i am gg to purchase (3 unit away). I read about alot of LS flats in this forum thus abit worrying... so i hope i will be lucky to find someone in the forum who stay in this blk to chk. Anyone know if the neighbour or if the seller did borrow from LS, can i still back out buying that unit (first appt not yet.) It will be a very trumatised experience for my mum if the seller or the neighbour borrowed from Ah Long when they come to disturb. Pls advised...

hi ossify, sorry may i ask what is grinding and what is screeding? If you just plaster over the existing tiles, the next time when the tiles pop out, it will damage your plastered wall and look ugly? yup i thought of using acrylic or aluminium panels to cover up some parts also. looks quite nice. must really hum tum those contractor who anyhow smoke and carrot just to earn money...
-
hi rondy, thanks for replying to my questions. I guess bigger tiles would be more expensive cos 1 big tile can cover the area of 3-4 small tiles. I heard forumers mentioning not to get the contractor to go with you to see the tile as they will get commission from the sales thus making the cost of tiles more expensive. Is this true? I intended to go down to buy the tiles myself then get the contractor to install up the tiles for me. Can the sales people know how much floor tile to purchase if i tell them the tiles are needed for a 3NG toilet? I am on budget renovation so dont want to kana too much carrot thks rondy

bro gantan88, thank you for clearing my doubt on the plastering issue. Now then i know need to do the cement screed then can do plastering. If doing plastering is only few hundred dollar cheaper then i might consider doing tile instead of plastering cos tile easier to maintain in the long run. My resale 3NG is in Bedok North Street 3

Need A Rough Quotation For The Following
home_sweet_home replied to home_sweet_home's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
hi garion, I have called HDB and they have told me to check with the branch office regarding whether the hacking can be approved or not. I will be gg down tomorrow. if the hacking of the wall is approved then I do not need to built back the wall when i sell off the house the next time. -
sorry to have ask this question in ur thread bro gantan88. I have some question regarding plastering of the house since your told on plastering earlier on. 1) Plastering of the wall is to make the wall smoother? 2) I wanted to convert my kitchen currently with half height wall tiles to non wall tiles. I would need to hack away the tiles and then do plastering? Is it confirm cheaper to plaster the kitchen wall then to lay the wall tiles? 3) I am thinking whether to plaster the living room and bedrooms wall to make them smoother so that after painting it will be nicer. I will be renovating my 3NG flat so thinking whether to plaster the living and bedrooms wall or not. I think painting over the 30 years old wall might be abit ugly as the wall might be uneven? Any advises by forum bro and sis? 4) Anyone know the rough quote to demolish the wall between the living room and kitchen for the 3NG flat (the wall in red box)?

Hi William...good that your reno is gg to be completed soon. I see that your MBR toilet uses two different tiles color: White and brown. I am curious to find out when buying tiles how much tiles do you roughly need for each color? I will be renovating my 3NG mid 2010 so checking out this forum to find out more before deciding on anything. Can anyone pls advise if theres any pros and cons in using bigger tiles than smaller tilts for the wall or floor?

Need A Rough Quotation For The Following

I have some doubt on some of the following since i am new to renovation. Can someone please help. 1) What is the difference between a false ceiling and a L box? Are there any links to pictures that I can see the L box and false ceiling? 2) If I approach ID/Contractor for a quotation to do the jobscope that I wanted, do they do pressure selling/ keep harassing you to sign their package? They will only give you the quotation for the jobscope or they will give you the projected layout (how the house look after the renovation) then the quotation? 3) For the following *, Weiken, Boon Siew...Do they provide purely contractor service only? Let say if I already got some design/layout in mind and dont need an ID to do the layout design for my place, can i just tell these firms the design I want then they will settle it for me 4) Is there any contractor who can do everything for you (eg toilet floor hacking and laying, plastering of wall, kitchen cabinet, wiring + others)? or I need to find individual contractor (like 1 contractor to do hacking and laying tiles, another contractor to do kitchen cabinet, another contractor to change doors, etc) ? 5) I will only get the key roughly around June. Is March a good time to look for these contractors? or the earlier the better? I scare too early sia. 6) If I try to hack anything (eg the wall separating the kitchen and the living room), am I right to say that I need to find people to lay the wall back when I am selling my house the next time? Sorry if my question sounded stupid as i am a dummy in renovation. -

Thanks for the advice Batman! -
Hi People, I am new to this forum and there are so many renovation infos in here...I will be getting my 3NG in June so I need to do some planning before that. 1) I need help with the rough quotation for the following items. Please help by giving me a rough range eg like $2000-$3000 if anyone happen to know the rough quote with labour and material costs. - Hacking of 2 toilet floor tilts and Laying new tilts (prices with tilts included) - Replacement of 2 toilet bowl (plus toilet bowl cost) - Replacement of 2 toilet basin (plus toilet basin cost) - Removal of current kitchen floor tilt and laying new tilts (inclusive of tilt cost) - Kitchen Cabinet of about 5m long - Replacement of 2 toilet doors (simple type will do) - Replacement of 2 toilet Louvre windows (those small windows in the toilet) - Replacement of main door and 2 room doors - Electrical rewiring for the whole house - Replacement of toilet sewage pipes - Replacement of water pipes for the whole house - Replacement of main entrance gate - Replacement of Louvre window panel for my hall and 1 room - Replacement of Garbage bin - Painting of whole house (3NG Flat) 2) Is $17k enough to do all those listed in (1) 3) I will be getting the key to the resales flat in June. When can I start looking for a contractor for quotation 4) I will be doing minimal renovation to the house. Generally I will be doing up the 2 toilet and kitchen. Did I miss out on any other things else? Thank you to your in advance!
