  1. I got mine from Pang Giap. Not the cheapest but quality stuff. They have a website i think panggiap88.com
  2. I switched over to MioTv bundled with 8Mbps and its an absolute disaster. It's much slower than starhub and take so long for it to start up. Called the customer service and they just passed on the message to their Technical team. Keep saying that someone will call me and no one ever call. Arranged appointment to check out the problem and they suka suka change time. Like people no need to work! I would highly commend MioTV customer service team to the SingTel management because the customers never has a chance of providing feedback or complaint or problem. Dun ever switch to Singtel!!!
  3. Hi hi, there's another thread on this http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=27584 Happy reading!
  4. Hi Summerflowers, I've been to King's Furnishings@Sungei Kadut to look at a storage bed and apparently they allowed you to have choice of headboard, colours too. They claimed that their mechanism (for lifting of bed) is german made and hence very sturdy. They quoted me a price of $799 for queen size storage bed without mattress. They are located at IFC. If you do visit them, please share with me your experience. Cheers

Hi Xray, can show us your curtain/blinds done by Dzander?
  6. Hi everyone, I have a very tight budget and have been advised by the ID(!) to drop the idea of a Foyer. I have read on this subject on many design book and they recommend a foyer as a transition between you dropping all your earthly worries and burden and your lovely home. Maintenance wise it would also help to manage the dust and keep the negative Qi outside of your home. Of course to remove your shoes and put your umbrella. I'm hacking a portion of my existing ceramic tiles and using homogenous tiles for this small area. Something textured for this and intend to put a chinese painting and chest on the foyer. If no foyer, I feel it would totally remove the use of the ID. might as well look for contractor. Can I check if all of you have a little corner like that in your house? If so could you post a pic of your Foyer and advise the estimated cost of doing this little bit?
  7. Hi Lionfreak ah great mind think alike... as my MBR is kinda small I thought of putting my tv on my 13 ft wardrobe. I got the idea from a HK magazine. The flat screen tv is mounted on the middle portion of the wardrobe. On this middle portion, there is storage space on top with two swing out doors and bottom has about 3 drawers. The middle section is liked hollow out and the TV is mounted on a laminated backing here, just like tv console but tv is inside the wardrobe. There is a bit of space below to put dvd player. I discuss with one of my shortlisted ID and he says that the TV backing will take up space as he need room to manage the wiring and to hide the wiring. But otherwise cost is the same. Another idea is to flip the tv inside the wardrobe and hide the tv when not used. This one I just thought of it recently to avoid dust. I have used sliding wardrobe before and the sliding track usually the most important factor. so if you mount a tv which could weight a bit more on the sliding panel, your tracking mechanisms must be very good and I dun know how your ID intend to manage the wiring. The wood used must be strong as well. If it can be done, please let me know. Meanwhile I just ask my ID to come back with his quote for the first idea. BTW the HK magazine is called Jing She (hanyu pinying) 精舍 and can be picked up from the National Library. I can't recall the month it was published. Let me know if you can't find it.
  8. Hi caireann, could let me know what areas were renovated and your overall costs for these items? I looking high and low for a good contractor.
  9. http://www.hdb.gov.sg/fi10/fi10324p.nsf/w/...t#FloorFinishes the above is a drawing on the actual working of this levelling - though it is named for levelling between balcony and living room, they have put the sketch link in this section Pardon my misquote on the "mesh" the proper terms is EPF or a type of foam. clueless haha
  10. Hi everyone, I have checked the HDB rules on this topic and would like to share the following: Source HDB InfoWEB: http://www.hdb.gov.sg/fi10/fi10324p.nsf/w/...t#FloorFinishes - Type of Building works Topping of kitchen floor to level with living room using extruded polystyrene foam (EPF) - Need Permit? No - Subject to following guidelines and conditions The existing floor screed and finishes are to be completely removed before commencing the proposed work Maximum thickness of floor finish inclusive of screed and tiles must not exceed 50 mm If the drop between the kitchen and living room floor level is more than 50 mm: Suitable thickness of EPF shall be used such that the floor finish of not more than 50 mm laid over the EPF is maintained (see sketch Drawing 1) Minimum parapet height should be 1000 mm, otherwise upturned railing must be provided to achieve this required height Minimum clearance height of 2.6 m measured from finished floor level to underside of ceiling So the expensive ID is actually pretty accurate
  11. Thank you for all your comments. I'm weighing costs vs design now. Things like levelling the kitchen and living costs money. Though it looks good, but like waileong pointed out, it may cause problem when cleaning kitchen. I don't cook much but my PT maid likes to wash my kitchen. I really headache now... I like the design by the ID but the costs is 30% above my budget. other than the kitchen, the capentry works is already $13k. Maybe he is waiting for me to bargain like other people but I wonder if the costs can be cut down by 20% to 30%. reputation wise it means that he is out to cut my "cai tou" right? If you have ID (or good contractor) that can offer practical design and reasonable quote, please pass me the contacts. I just an average joe trying to improve my home to livable standards. no need level kitchen and living lah.
  12. Hi madwarrior72, can i check if you had to pay very much more reno costs 5 yeears ago? How's the effect?
  13. Thanks lionfreak and ngunadi for your reply. Yah I had my doubts too. I think I'll just leave the kitchen and living hall level status quo. And yes lionfreak, you are so right to say that reno cost will go up. My id first quote exceeds my budget by 30%! Btw is this the norm with most id? They mark up high high and expect you to negotiate down? By budget $XXk means that the max right? I dun feel like going back and haggle like wet market auntie
  14. Hi everyone, I'm renovating my first home and need your comments to double check my id idea Usually the kitchen floor lower than the living hall for resale flat right? My ID asked me to hack the wall leading to the kitchen, open concept. then he will hack the kitchen floor and cabinet and lay cement over it and then "mesh". This is supposed to level the flooring between kitchen and living hall. I heard (vaguely) from my bro in law that hdb laws do not allow but id say he has been doing it for years! Any one has any experience in this? thanks in advance
  15. Hi eby, hv pm u. Good experience with them, everything beautiful within 2 hours. very blessed. my wardrobe assembled very smoothly, just like before.
