  1. mine is after painting. yah.. u have to pay $150 for a new set of brackets. brackets should be quite standard, think not much diff from your existing one.
  2. reno moving along slowly cos only 2 person in charge of the wet works. plastering almost done. no more 'bricks' on the wall. new kitchen wall erected. our 'common' common toilet wall tiles done. actually there's some design on the tiles but not visible with the flash on. MBR toilet wall partially done minus feature wall. meeting the electrician tomorrow to talk about the wiring.
  3. i also have a 4-year old sea horse L-shape fabric sofa (2.1m x 0.9m). if you need, pm me o/w will donate or dispose away when the new sofa arrives in early feb.
  4. nice windows. no grilles? HDB will provide air con bracket? I think everywhere also like this, box up will eat into the room's space. Not intending to change the bracket?
  5. me also following your blog closely. the area underneath the false ceiling will be lighted up by the down lights, i think should be ok. initially wanted to do a L-shaped so that above the dining table will have a whole stretch of false ceiling wall-to-wall but have to top up even more. so KIV. looking for something practical, lower cost and yet will not look too shabby.
  6. thanks. learnt something new today.
  7. hi guys, need some opinions regarding my living room l-box again. would like to check, if i do a l-box 2ft out from the wall with cove lighting, will it look too small or weird? my living room width is 2.8m. the box on the right is a false ceiling just to level up the exposed kitchen ceiling. wanted to do 3ft from the wall but have to top up $$. trying to minimize the amount of VO. thanks.
  8. no matter what, you still will have to fork out the COV during the 1st appointment. Your 'profits' if any will only come after the sales completion.
  9. me also looking for something similar. wanted to ship in from Australia but not cheap also. http://www.hertzelectronics.com.au/pages/public.html if you managed to find any lobang, do share with me.
  10. hmm.. biggest is the one at sims drive.
  11. yah, that's why headache now. next year's fiber cable installation also another headache. going to check with my electrician and contractor on whether can do something now so that can install the fiber cable into the existing l-box and trunking when the installation happens end of next year. haha.. i know. nvm lah.. save $$, do more exercise.
  12. thanks for the reminder. should be ok, can ask my dad for assistance and supervision. 2 ways switch, i also dunno how to do it. anyway i am not intending to do any 2 way switch. small house, walk abit nvm.
  13. i know what u mean. for cove light, i will only turn it on when i want the lights to be dimmer o/w it'll all remain switched off, so I think for my requirements, all on and off together should be ok. maybe after the 1st month utilities bill then i will regret. :0 anyway now i am open to all ideas before deciding on what to do later this week.
  14. hmm.. maybe can consider DIY for the cove lights, just ask my electrician to leave the wires exposed then the rest settle myself.
  15. hmm.. concept. we do not have a specific concept, living room will be mainly black and white with a touch of red (modern i guess) while MBR going for a more cosy feel. dunno how our place will turn out cos no ID involved. *fingers crossed*
  16. actually tube cost is negligible, worried about the lighting point cost. put more = more lighting point cost. but i seen on the web, can daisy chain cove lights. if possible then dunno can put 3-4 tubes and consider as 1 lighting point anot?
  17. seriously, i have no idea know cos this is my 1st home and 1st experience with cove lights. hopefully can come out with the correct decision on how many tubes to place and also whether to have exposed or covered tubes.
  18. nowadays like not many pple mount fluorescent directly on the ceiling, i mostly see them in cove lighting purely for ambience.
  19. hi bro, not lost yet lah. still managed to find our men whom we left behind.
  20. for me, the cove lightings for my place are just for the ambient lighting and not to be used solely as a direct source of lighting. Those will be done by the PLCs. this is what i will be doing, only concern is how many tubes needed to light up the whole cove lighting area w/o obvious pockets of dimmer areas. but come to think of it, i am not sure if i will be using the cove lights that frequently. maybe only when i am watching movies in the living room. still considering whether to have cove lights a not..... have to decide by Xmas.
  21. so what did your ID do when you shown him the defects? I guess this is also quite impt.
  22. thanks for the suggestion. i was initially thinking of putting 3x 4ft of T5 along the stretch but not sure whether the light can fill up the whole 5m. so need more opinions from here.
  23. yes, blue tinted windows with natural colored frame. need some advise from everyone. I have a stretch of cove lighting which is about 5m. how many 4ft T5/T8 should I place along the 5m? I saw some people paired 2 tubes of T5/T8 at 1 spot, is it necessary? thanks.
