  1. mbr curtain finally came in yesterday and immediately got a call from my contractor that he's able to arrange for someone to install it the very same day! how's that for service man?! but could be because i haben pay him the remaining amount of money. money talks. ha cross our fingers, despite it being major major grey, we were still quite worried there might be a green hue to it. alas, the green only shows up with white light and albeit negligible, forgivable. view of mbr night curtain with view of our baroque wallpaper view of mbr night curtain at all the mbr windows view of the only roman blind we allow after gentle reminders from our contractor that it might be a tad difficult to maintain view on close up - we chose some light texture over plain velvet material. also the latter tends to collect dust easily imho. that's all for now. and the next thread has nothing to do with reno at all i promise you. confirm. double confirm
  2. have i missed much? d a r n, I had. lightings wise.. imho and my own preference too, less is more. perhaps, your place is bigger but i seen my mates' place overrun with downlights and i mean REALLY. i tot i was at some disco suppose u done your homework and had discuss with yr ids regarding your lightings and thus the design. can't wait to see the lightings on the metal art! am still buying time for my HTS set-up but i suppose where to head to for info. meanwhile, my dl supposedly HD quality movies from funshion website shall suffice - gd to watch on laptop, but once with HDMI cable to my tv, it starts to suffer. WERE YOU AT GREATWORLD? hahah.. molecule, IWANNAGOHOME and lifestorey the few places i sure browse through whenever i'm there. and i really really like that cat of yours! is so pretty! totally a champion! OXO!!!! i love their products. and was so close to buying online through comgateway the kitchen towel stand you have. alas, wife was concerned bout shipping cost. in the end, she still got her katespade bag and i could only settle for my oxo good grips silicone drying mat (but turned out to be a darling on my kitchen island!). incidentally, you can see my oxo mat in my next update!
  3. thank you! yea, lush lush seems to catch on us. both are from there. plus they're the more affordable ones compare to the likes of molecule, lifestorey and iwannagohome. the next update coming up la! dont be rude k. hahahah
  4. hey hey... a bigger place albeit too much though huh. i second to that! jus cannot find that d a r n piece! haha... but careful with the comment, u may incur some ppl's wrath. haha hahaha... well, "chiao luo da gu, xi qi yang yang" - the surest way to start off the new house isn't it? HUAT AH try shi*t. suspend the * in midair. should be quite arty farty. hahaha! tks for the intro. seems like a gd investment to have my wife and I initials at our display area in the living room! got tiger meh? but at least, i think you're not killing anymore plants. they're real right? hahaha
  5. hey singabox, sorry for the late reply ya. you have been pmed!
  6. well... pros and cons staying in any area i guess? honestly, i just feel that west area are so deprived of good food though. ha! looks like my column is located at similar location with yours, albeit a much bigger column! eagerly looking forward to see how you gonna dress up the column! meanwhile, another fav reno of mine, green giraffe has quite a clock that is really a head-turner too
  7. i do not have my thumb drive with me now but if memory doesnt fail me, i would think is 500+ after a 30% discount? consider i watched all the above and believe you're as much as a movie buff like me, it seems rude you never have a Matrix Trilogy in blue-ray. sorry jus a freak ardent fan of Matrix here. ha gee, i feel like i just had a good conversation with my wife already! hahaha Rimblock... yr quote really had me in stitches man! Ely1, i think yr hubby and i are quite sick. we share the same wife. hahahahha bed wise, go with the one that resonates with you. that i-know-this-is-the-one feeling. no wrong! nice design, 3 towels would be perfect to use on this but if more, i jus find the rods a tad too close together imho. oooo.... make sure where u put your towels are well ventilated and yr towels are able to air dry. been to a few mates' place and their used towel draped inside the bathroom had quite a stench, if you know what i'm saying. btw, wat's the promo now? good currency rate to buy my vorando fan now but jus wondering if there are more discounts on the products come easter day in april. what you think?
  8. ever consider getting them fabricated by some metal works people? i asked for a quote once to get people to fabricate my stainless steel bench. alas, there wasn't significant cost savings, so we bought from lush lush in the end been done, done that. so don't worry, everything that should happen will happen and will fall in place when the time comes. hang in there and enjoy every single process (seriously) because all would be but beautiful memories before you know it ya ... my wife is a virgo, so i can imagine KNOW how irritating you can be during the reno process. ha!
  9. no problem, hope it helps. next 20 years? already decided so fast huh gd luck with your wallpaper selections! if you seen some of the pics, you notice i have some sort of beam in the living rm too. the more i c, the more it would be the place where i would hang up a nice clock (scare wallpaper too striking which i don't want). so that's one suggestion for you
  10. hey, gals_mama, i remember you! yes, super white house, super tiring too. haha. but tks for the kind words ya! hope everything is fine for you you go PMed. yea, the shopping trip would seem endless i tell you. look ard, there are few shops that are highly recommended ya ah.. i used to live at 700+, that's why i asked.
  11. yes, I am. 白果 + barley plus i add way more additional ingredients lei!
  12. hey there.. foremost, welcome to RT and indeed, there are hordes of information out here that is really really useful. think everyone starts off equal i.e there's gotta be a first reno for everyone somewhere down the line imho. so dont fret, you're not alone ya getting id or the contractor is prolly the utmost important decision because the reno is gonna be there for years or otherwise, till as long as you are living there. on top of that, is paying good and big money, so am sure you wanna the best out of it. hidden charges are the most scariest thing when it comes to quote. id or contractor should be transparent, upfront and attentive to details. since downpayment is paid, i suggest u pester him for the following first; 3d designs, official quote listing all the brands that he is gonna to use for your reno i.e solid tops, tile cost psf (also very very impt cause it could limit the tiles design available), how many ft cabinets, top and bottom cabinets inclusive? not sure about the brands but based on dimensions. am doing this before heading work, so correct me if i interpret it wrong below; 2.7m by 3.4m translates to 8.8ft by 11.15ft? isnt the dimensions a bit weird for kitchen carpentry? as in the width is 2.7m? hmm... gotta ask him for details ya. good luck!
  13. firstly, my congrats on your bundle of joy! a plan indeed! and is crucial that the critical milestones are jotted down. welcome to RT and i promise you that it is gonna be a very exciting time. hordes of information. so just shoot if in doubt! you may refer pinned topics on the important topics section on how to upload pics ya
  14. i may have titanax mobile from the previous group buy i initiated. i can prolly drp him a sms?
  15. i was skeptical with Summer initially but d a r n h e l l, it was exactly the same as goodrich! they're located at ang mo kio industrial area though. a better idea would be to call up Ray direct, let him know what you want and he prolly can make a trip down with samples. that's what he did when i called. let me know if you need his number ya. likewise, wenx, let me know if you need his number too k. will pm you all
  16. hey hey.. the party is on! haha my first since i joined RT for awhile. can my wife join in too? do i need to cook too? i quite like to do my "pai guo" barley drink when the majong kakis come over for late sessions.
  17. HURRAY! from hail of destruction, a new flat shall reborn i always say. more decisions making down the road. exciting times ahead ya!
  18. is that yr cat? is really a darling! form 1 function 0. wipe wipe wipe. haha nt sure bout malaysia but forum here does speak about them at length. do check it out. i like A Lighting Enterprise cause Alex's service is good. since is the norm T5 and T8s u are looking for, why not try A lighting via a call and see if u can get it cheaper. i bought my living rm fan for $180. black and 56' is one thing, having good wind is another. for that many speaks of KDK, but imho no design to talk about. i only chanced upon this after getting my ceiling fan. i really like its simplicity in shape. performance wise, am not sure. but jus to share, the haiku ceiling fan; 3hr discussion. been there, done that. largely, we were talking how to create those two-way lightings for easy access. btw, pse have dimmer function for chandelier, i find my a bit too bright for comfort. time to hunt your flat and install pin hole camera. WAHAHAHA am really interested in these art pieces but wondering how's the texture like? smooth? rough? shimmering? i think any one will go very very well behind my kitchen island which i'm finding it too bare.
  19. hey, another EAnians as i call it. which area in the west? got the baroque wallpaper through my ID but we bought from supplier direct. we first spotted it at goodrich but realised we can get it much cheaper from my id's contact, so we went ahead. is call Summer Interior Furnishing. our curtains are from there too. hope it helps
  20. seriously though, while shopping on comgateway for my wife's bags previously, i did comtemplate getting some nicer tupperware from Kohler in! careful, it could be the case of either the monstrous sub stays or the cat goes. haha yea, the crowd must be open to the idea. and ours are typical chinese familes. so glad that our friends really participated! on the contrary, props help! we had diy fake moustaches, cheesy geeky eye frames, party noses. ha! jus make sure the camera settings and the lightings work for you. jus take note if your sinks are shallow, they tend to spill out very easily which is exactly what happens in my case. but otherwise, great selections there! my research at the shops are as follows; lightings.com.sg, Chan Huat, Lightcraft and A Lighting Enterprise. in the end we bought from Lightcraft for our dining light, and the rest from A Lighting Enterprise including our very hard to find stainless steel look alike ceiling fan
  21. agree.. if really wanna have a kitchen island, lazybum9's idea is nt bad at all! the reno is gonna be there for the next few years, so do something that you really want ya! work around the restrictions and cost. am sure some brainstorming with your id will inject new ideas
  22. yea, things will be happening at break-neck speed i tell you but seemingly, thing will fall into place. jus enjoy the big day when it comes. ha! we cant be bothered by Compass. we just brought with us the original cds and left it beside the console jus in case anyone asked bout it. we made sure our wedding coordinators and us sang the same story. photojournalist! we love that kind of shots and that's why we chose our photographer cause we enjoyed his works so much! SAME! we had a made shift DIY photo booth and it was pretty popular! am pretty sure yr wedding would be a blast already! am surprised you never go online to buy tupperware! hahaha
  23. all of the above? been done, done that. ha so don't worry.. jus another phase. hommage is nt bad if i dont remember wrongly. univonna is also good (i bought my mbr bed frame from there). salesperson from lifestorey (which i bought my incredibly cheap sofa from) reminded there's a sales coming up in april at great world. lush lush is also value for money. however, you may wanna be careful wit some of the shops in IFC. nt very good reputation the last i read in RT. stools wise, check out ghee hong and comfort design. ikea wise, is really depending on what you wanna buy cause i constantly get mixed reviews bout their stuff. i have tonnes of info on wedding too and the memories are still fresh! haha. but since tis is RT, jus pm me if you need any advice. hope it helps
  24. yeap, the reno contract should state which brand and type of materials used. but also, be around when the materials are delivered cause just in case the contractor tries to be funny by stating on paper but use another in the end! totally agree, must withstand the test of time. yea, sometimes must recognise that paying more is for the better. paying lesser may seems worthwhile but if life expectancy is questionable, it may not add up in the end. since you seem to be in the know how, just to share, i'm using acelite work top. chose that because of the white color we're after. not that it matters anymore but no harm finding out more what's being used in the house.
  25. mate, you just answered yourself - higher quality means you would have to do yr own research and negotiate with the contractor/ID - means better spend more time on renotalk. is the webmaster reading this? am doing advertising for them. ha ???? stop scaring me. i jus spent 300 bucks on that. ha till today? think the wires are fried. haha
