  1. talking about money plants... mine used to strive very well but suddenly in these few weeks, a lot of leaves started to die for no reason... i'm very sad now... hope they dun continue to die~
  2. hahaha oops i thought you meant one place 3 colours, so living room and kitchen = 3 x 2 = 6, and 4 colours is a reduction of 2 colours...... anyway, let's see the 3D first you already quite fast leh... i only choose laminate like halfway thru reno... haha
  3. this one is Ariston heater rite? Ariston heater's water inlet and outlet are both 1/2". so the pipe going into and out of the heater will be 1/2". in industrial context, water source pipe will be of a larger diameter than the downstream users, and anyway, 1/2" is surely large enough for normal shower usage, i suppose you suspect 1/2" is too small? i dun think it's an issue here. any leakage in pipe joints/mixer elsewhere in the toilet?
  4. hahaha at first we were also trying to create a "resort" feel to the MBR though unsucessful in the end.... hmmm since kitchen is white and red? living room maybe can consider black, grey, white (plus red maybe)? so the whole area only 4 colours... i think these 4 colours go well with each other. some may say these are boring colours but seriously if one is talking about modern theme, can't really run away from black, grey, white (at least my opinion la ) erm my $0.02 is in HK dollar, so smaller than Simon's yea i also think Ely1's photos all very nice, makes me drool and feel like renovating again... hahahaha
  5. yea, but some of the stuff quite nice leh... heh...
  6. who's your electrician? Ah Liang? so far, no sign of that yet (touch wood), but it's only been 7.5 months~ maybe it helps that the rack is not at the shower area so it doesn't kenna water.
  7. nope... i'm refering to the wall storage organiser that is not part of the cabinet... it's for making use of wall space for organising stuff oops from the photo i thought what you posted is hung on the wall one...? yea plastic ones are great. no headache about rust or what not though it doesn't look as good my parents' place also uses plastic dish drainer... the 1st one lasted from my kindergarten to uni days!
  8. yeap, in fact the 1st place i went was Howard Storage (before going to Ikea). was looking at a chrome wire rack with plastic solid board on top, but they told us to have the size we want, they need to customise. before customizing it's already >$150... We found the price not worth it so decided to look elsewhere~ oh ya May Dream, Howard Storage got a number of kitchen trolleys that are the type you're looking for, you can drop by to take a look it's for storage... i'm not using it as a worktop (cannot lah!)... the purpose of it is to store my stuff that is currently taking up my worktop space, so i have more worktop space for cooking etc. so this shelf will be at the "dry" area of the kitchen. it's 79cm in height, just like a normal dining table standard kitchen countertop height is 34 in (86.4 cm) though mine is 31 in (78.7cm).
  9. hahaha actually depends on the type of flower... need to trial & error (caution: some plants might be sacrificed in the process ) for the "will not die" flower, if water starts coming out from the hole at the bottom of the pot, then it's too much liao. for orchid, just sprinkle with those water spray will do (that's what my mom told me)
  10. if the work is already completed, workmanship is satisfactory and the house is already in hand-over condition, there is no reason not to pay him even though you don't like his attitude. ID is hired for interior design and not there to concern about your well being. in fact, i'm surprised he hasn't chased you after 4 weeks... most contractors/ID would have already chased you for payment within 2 weeks of completion. and, for some ID companies, they actuall have supervisors and IDs and their role are separated, ID concentrates on design only so they rarely go up to the house after handing over field work is to the supervisors. maybe this is the case for the ID you engage?
  11. i think it's okie if your bedroom is resort theme and the rest of the house is modern theme, and MBR is somewhere that you can "retreat" to after a hard day of work... resort style will be nice just one suggestion - hope i'm not adding to your headache - maybe you can consider wall paper for feature wall? cos i think it's harder to choose a classy looking laminate for such a big area like feature wall. but if you have already chosen... nevermind la and what i said above, maybe limit the number of laminates and use a few same one throughout the house...
  12. maybe? i was having bad headache yesterday too, head felt like going to explode.... i spent 3 hours choosing laminate and i only have one to choose: kitchen cabinet. if you have to choose laminate for 10 different items, sure you will take a long time! maybe should use same laminate for some of the items? if the house has 10 different combi of laminates for 10 different items, i think it will look very messy..... hahaha GB for panadol! you all are so cute... maybe 100 plus better... not good to take so much panadol~ actually you all are not boring la, these are safe colours that can go through the test of time. and agree with what forggy said - you can add nice pieces of furnishing and they will stand out more with a background that is not-so-loud
  13. this one a bit ex though... this is $249 while the Udden one (2 wheels) is only $129. but this Flytta one is 90cm long! maybe you can wait for the Ikea main sales around Jun/Jul period
  14. Actually Ikea has a lot of these kitchen organisers, you can read their kitchen catalogue for inspiration~ hahaha looks like i m a great fan of ikea leh... haha
  15. hmmm how about this? about 15 cm longer though: FLYTTA Kitchen trolley
  16. haha... remember the "will not die" flower we're talking about at my t-blog? you know how it died in the end? i was away from hostel for 4 days (to visit my mom), so i asked my room-mate to help me water the flowers. when i came back 4 days later, all of them were dead.... Me: (completely shocked) what happened?? (Note: i already had those flower for 5 years! how can they die in 4 days!) Room-mate: i dunno! i just watered them and nothing else! end up... seemed like she was too kiasu so over-watered the flowers~
  17. oh kitchen trolley? i like the ikea udden one... too bad it's too fat to fit into my narrow space of 40cm... (udden's depth is 60cm). else would have grabbed one during special sales some months back~
  18. what kind of table you are looking for? for kitchen or living room?
  19. thanks for the info Kerio we used those powder ants poison last time and these small insects were gone. but we ran out of the ants poison so didn't put for the past 2 months or so. now they're back! i will try the powder out again... maybe a differnt brand this time? hahaha
  20. The Kitchen Table Story Just before CNY, i was talking about getting a kitchen table, so i can relocate my rice cooker and water heater there, and hence free up some of my countertop space. We were eyeing on this $99 Melltorp table which just nicely fits into that 40cm space (narrow!) we have for the kitchen table. but we didn't buy that time due to the full delivery schedule before CNY. and when we went ikea during this weekend... horror of horror... they told us that this long Melltorp table is OUT-OF-STOCK and DISCONTINUED!!! checked stocks from both Ikea Alexandra and Tampines. they actually have stock for the table frame but not the table top almost wanted to cry at that moment cos it took us so long to look for table of this size and now it's not available Disappointed, we continued to walk to the bookshelf section.... and new idea flashed across our mind............ we decided to just go for the good old EXPEDIT bookshelf instead: the height is just right and the depth is just right (39cm!). some more can put in drawers if i want to~ and, who says bookshelves cannot be used in kitchen? only complaint is that it's a bit too short (79cm. Melltorp table is 95cm long, width 38cm). when i voiced that out, hubby raised his eyebrows and went "you want that additional 16cm for what??" then i suggested to use the longer EXPEDIT instead (have it put horizontally on the floor): unfortunately, the request was rejected flatly, AGAIN..................
  21. continue on our ikea shopping...: That Bedside Table... I wanted a bedside table/cabinet with drawers from the beginning becos i think i need somewhere to put my handphones/chargers/alarm clock..... but hubby rejected the request flatly. reason: (a) MBR is already small enough and (b) one more piece of furniture, one more thing to clean. it was lucky that our bedframe has some "platform" design so we can still line up the alarm clock and stuff on the bedframe itself, so we endure without a bedside table for this past 7 months. finally (yes, finally!) hubby himself couldn't stand the sight of messy handphone charge cables anymore, and now he is more convinced than me that he NEEDS a bedside table! yay!! so we got this from ikea. matches our colour scheme, functional, and, well, cheap. it will be at the inside of the room, behind where the standing lamp is now. though i'd think that it will be nicer to have 2 bedside cabinets, one on each side - so it will look more balance. but hubby doesn't buy the idea..... anyway, having 1 is good enough for me finally, one less item to my pending list... time to edit my signature
  22. went to ikea over the weekend and did quite a bit of shopping... The Framsta Story Bought the black glass Framsta tv panels that hubby has always wanted but didn't get during reno time cos couldn't figure out where to mount them. we will have 3 panels right in the middle of our existing tv console. i found it really odd to suddenly have 3 panels sprung out from the tv console like this but hubby insisted that he wants it this way. so... refresh: this is how my living room looks like now. the width of the framsta panel is exactly the same as the middle 2 drawers. it's gonna be 3 panels placed vertically. still trying to imagine the new look... find the 3 lone panels very odd in the middle of this big wall. what do you all think? i'm really sketical that it will look nice~ anyway, i will enjoy the sight of this big wall in nice colour (i really love this paint colour!) until this sat... when the delivery comes..........
  23. wah if so reflective... lady visitors to the house should refrain from wearing skirts/dresses the LED makes the place looks very futuristic, machiam like in a space ship~ but one thing i find about LED lights is they look a bit too "cold" to me. any LED lights with warmer white around? and the switches... really nice!!!
  24. bro you should sleep earlier anyway, very interesting blog! more to come please~ in my next reno, i will choose kitchen tiles similar to this...
  25. i got something like this, but just a cheap one from Hoe Kee
