The CNY Shopping Spree Story - continued My biggest regret is.... ....Not waiting for 2 more weeks to buy my Mac Book my 8-yr-old PC died 2 weeks before CNY and got an Macbook in replacement. Blame myself for not doing proper research before buying... MacBook is ~SGD $200 cheaper back home! while MacBook Pro is ~SGD $300 cheaper!! ARGH almost pulled all my hairs off when i saw the price................ ...And.... life is really a lot busier after marriage. now gotta entertain not one but two families during CNY, feel really tired splitting our time between 2 families, traveling from west to east and back everyday..... i have so little time to do my own shopping - until i didn't have chance to step into Mannings or Bonjour even once! Never top up my supply of facial mask sigh...... also didn't get to shop for some accessories for myself......

The CNY Shopping Spree Story Back to SG and the hot hot weather... anyway, let me update my latest buy with SG dollars at its historical high (or rather, USD at its historical low), it's really a great time to shop back home. things are usually already cheaper back home, now even standard-price stuff also just get automatically cheaper becos of exchange rates. our most major purchase is.... 1. Microsoft Xbox 360 with Kinect! hubby said "must give pple something to do when they visit our place", hence the decision to get this... already have 2 sets of Wii at our friends' homes didn't know Kinect is so popular.... almost all the electronic shops we've asked are out-of-stock. only until 2 days ago when i suddenly thought of checking out one of the shops, they told me they just had new stock coming in that morning!! now still waiting for my Dance Central game disc to come (can you believe it's also out-of-stock in one of the biggest electronic chains?? ) 2. Tefal Mixer Already talked about it here: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?sh...st&p=609393 3. Some baking stuff my 2 favourite cartoon characters~ 4. Silicone Pot Grips Saw something like that in an atas home accessories shop before, it costs like $6.9 for a small simple pot grip... then saw it again at my parents' home, only costs SGD $2 here... got a cyan and a magneta one btw, if anyone knows where to get this kind of household stuff at good price in SG, do let me know... i also dun wanna wait till going back hometown to get this kind of simple stuff Not forgetting the usual suspects like OZOC, H&M, Ettusais etc.... got some clothing, shoes and stuff....

since you have 3 beds, you have the "economy of scale".... can just buy 7 sets and rotate around that 3 beds........ but 7 sets per bed is a lot! no offense really but you must be sick of hearing this: you seem to have a lot of everything~
-
last nite (midnight to be exact) is the 拜天公 time (bai ti gong. not sure if the chinese is correct), so a lot of pple burning stuff.... the smell was so terrible that i have to on aircon to zzz though it wasn't hot last nite i also wanna check out Robinson next time....
-
i think they close quite early, like 5 or 6pm... go earlier if you can
-
why each one needs 7 sets?? so many?? 2 sets each enough liao mah.... i saw that they have sales quite often... not a problem~
-
they have outlets at these places - at least these are what i know: Heartland Mall, Sun Plaza, IMM, Jurong Point, Thomson Plaza. According to the staff at Jurong Point, Jurong Point one is the biggest outlet... dunno true or not the cotton sateen sets original price is $399 (Queen and King same price). we got this set cos it has everything we need: 2 pillow cases, 2 bolster cases, 1 fitted sheet and 1 quilt cover (usually for most bedding set we've seen, fitted sheet and quilt cover are either-or, gotta buy them separately). after discount (70% + additional 20%), one set is around $95. still have a lot of king size ones left... most of the queen size ones are sold out 21 sets? no need mah... even if you have 7 beds then 7x2 = 14 sets are enough also, only need to get those nice onces for yourself... guest rooms use normal ones can liao

i understand what you mean... i'm assuming here that both Ariston and Joven are equally good in their make so the heat loss or power loss would be comparable. then the most important factor will be power rating. aiyo i think i have said many times before... HDB rule says homes with 30 Amps power supply can only install storage heater up to 1.5kW. 3kW storage heater are not allowed. that's the main arguement here. we ended up with Ariston becos Ariston is 1.5kW while Joven is 3kW. like that of course Ariston is slower. I'm not prepared to break any rules... so have to stuck with on the slower one lor. bro actually you are against HDB rules cos i'm sure your block is also 30 Amps supply. but since you can use it now.... Shhhhh..... -
no, i mean just put the fund in CPF OA and take their 2.5% interest. sorry i can't explain clearly... it's something like take a longer loan but accumulate money in OA, once OA got enough funds, redeem the loan.... it may sound strange that you can redeem faster this way, but once you punch all the numbers to calculate in Excel, you can see for yourself of course it also depends on how much funds you park in your OA~ did a calculation for my fren before, think in her case, not worth the effort

my fren just collected keys in Jan too.... have referred your t-blog to him

i have to agree that the "S*T*" telco is worse btw, some updated on bedsheets since we were talking about it the other day. walked past Homestyle yesterday and they are having offer. bought 2 sets of 100% cotton sateen bed sets, 300 or 380 thread count~ cotton sateen ones really feels better than normal 100% cotton ones with the same thread count~ and best thing is hubby said he is prepared to get more if we see anything nice that is on offer.... hahahaha he is addicted to nice bedding stuff liao

something like that. i dun have two brands with same power rating to compare, but based on science, assuming both brands have good insulation and good working heating elements, heating time would not differ much if power rating is the same. they are both reputable brands, the make can't be THAT lousy. the key is in the power rating. so if comparing a 1.5kW Ariston and a 3kW Joven, of course Joven is faster, to be exact, 2x faster. if comparing a 1.5kW Ariston and a 1.5kW Joven - no data yet. most likely not too much diff. -
actually i used to have 3 TVs and we only have 3 pple at home but i actually never turned on mine, in the end just sold to karung guni to carry it away for me

For example: Initial water temperature = 30 degC Final water temperature = 50 degC (Ariston heater's max temp is 70 degC. usually we turn to around 70~80% of max setting) Water Tank volume = 30 L if power rating is 1.5 kW, time required = 34.9 mins if power rating is 3.0 kW, time required = 17.4 mins this is just a rough illustration... didn't take into account for many other factors See Joven's own example here (scroll to the bottom): http://www.joven-electric.com/product_elec.../horizontal.asp -

i think i mentioned at reglxt's blog before, how fast the water heats up depends on the power rating of the heater, not becos of the brand. if it's 1.5kW, no matter which brand, it will still be slow.... -
bro thanks for the photos~! nah you're not flooding my thread la my bad that i've only seen this today... i actually don't check my own t-blog! i guess you found it messy cos those toyogo trays don't fit the compartments nicely? i still love the look of the udden trolley.... too bad it doesn't fit!!

have you checked the electrical loading of your flat? as i mentioned before, Joven's rated power is 3kW so you can't use if your home is not upgraded to 40 Amps supply -
nice photos~! i esp like the 2nd one and the last one taken in Punggol
