hahaha May gave big tips liao if it's land of rising sun... flats maybe costs 5x of HDB, not 2x hahahaha -
ya i'm thinking no need to invest in a very good one since i dun bake often, but hubby also says that better not get one that is too lousy... hahaha
-
ya not say very chim but took a while to understand! hahahahah really a lot of 学问 for baking actually i have an electric hand held whisker at home, but i never used cos dunno if can be used on dough...? you have strong arms mah! actually i have been using spatula to mix for these 2 times of baking... my arm really sores after that... hahahaha
-
i see... thanks for the advice i may start with a cheapo mixer or a hand mixer... shall shop around since there is a lot of CNY sales now. yesterday when i saw at Courts, next to a $900++ K-mix is a Iona mixer $39 only. all the mixing parts look the same... i was like i saw that normally mixers come with 2 "mixer heads" (is this the correct term?), one looks like a few loops put together, the other is spiral one... are these all we need?

hahaha actually you know you want it but just looking for some encouragement rite~ JUST DO IT!! i couldn't do island cos my kitchen is the very long type... besides, knowing that i'm so clumsy, things will probably fall off from the island all the time since there is no wall backing sounds very nice leh.... maybe you should really consider copying that idea! -
that's becos you are season baker mah.... i spent 3 hours in total to make that 2 small trays of cookies ... 3 hrs from beginning to the end (washing) maybe i can save some time by having a mixer....... *drafting budget request*
-
that is exactly my concern... i dun think i will dislike baking, but more of what if i have no time to bake? so wanna make smaller investment... but dunno if the small investment makes sense if it's not going to be good. you mean those cheap mixers spoil so easily??? how about hand mixer...? good?

i have clearly given a "YES" just now i think if you don't do, you'll regret! might as well have it and concentrate on how to make it look better just to add, i actually dun think it looks weird from main door cos it's open concept anyway. since we are not bothered by feng shui, should be alrite~ -
ahhhhh... this scene must be censored... not suitable for young kids hahahahaha was hoping to make some cookies and bring home for my parents... but not sure if i have the time or not i was looking at mixers the other day. there are some really ex ones (> $1k) and some really cheap ones with plastic bowl - cheapest i saw only $39 with the usual stuff all included. does it really matter to buy a very very good one?

wardrobe not so deep la... usually 60cm or less... too deep very difficult to get stuff from inside my current wardrobe is 55cm in depth, old one was 47cm only. actually if not very big size, okie la... i'm using queen size bed and got more than enough space to roll around... haha but i'm really quite small size -

according to my parents, the wood must be of good quality and properly treated so it can last in the toilet. my parents' vanity cabinet in toilet has been around 28 years (yes you didn't read wrongly). if really want a cabinet below sink, how about constructing a cement one with tiles finish? it may sound old fashion but at least it's lasting.

didn't know you're from Jurong too~ welcome! wah bro you seem to know this market very well!
-
Welcome~ i also know someone from JS... she was quite active in the JS thread in SGbride forum

just few months back, there was a serial "spiderman" robber in Jurong West area, one of our forumers here was among the victims the thief went into the flat via the kitchen windows which had no grilles. this forumer stays at high floor iirc. hmmm if falling from MBR is technically one floor high, then thieves also need to climb only one floor to reach the window rite....?

aiks.... i see... talking about space crunch~ if want to do the foyer thing then the island probably should rotate 90º to be parallel to main door too... or.... how about L-shape island??? hahaha think i'm getting a little too imaginative i bet my kitchen won't be any bigger than your bro's... hahahaha -

wahahaha my home town is a place in Asia that is very well known for piegon hole-size homes that cost 2x of that for HDB... you'd have probably guessed where by now sigh you've seen it before rite... it's impossible for 2 people to be in the kitchen simultaneously~ -

hmmm then make the island nicer so it doesn't look like kitchen? another idea is... how about putting the shoe cabinet half height parallel to the main door, so it sort of create a foyer and the kitchen doesn't look so expose at the main door? hope you get what i mean... but i'm sure you have already explored lots of ideas hahahahaha actually i think the conversion part doesn't sound very $$$, it's probably the glass that is going to be expensive... why not just do it and then put the glass later? at my work place, the industrial standard for operation walk path is minimum 70cm, but of course if the person is me, even 50cm is okie -

oh like that... then i actually quite like your idea leh, seems like the island will be dining + entertaining area for your guests.... maybe can have a mini bar counter there too... nice le~ what's your reservation on the island, then? but one thing about hacking kitchen wall like this is, i was told, that the permit may take longer for approval because this will need to go to the Fire Safety Department for assessment before granting approval... if csingeu didn't point out, i won't notice.... seems like the scale looks a bit weird hor? or the proportion in the drawing is correct so we should just ignore the numbers? -
my parents' place, last reno was 17 years ago and everything is still going strong. i really wish my place will be the same............
