  1. oh let me clarify: My floor tiles are 30 x 30, wall tiles 30 x 60. reason for using 30 x 30? same as what csingeu mentioned... and yes i can't explain it properly like he did~ hahaha
  2. yup yup... which one are you using? i'm using a 3-in-1 one (Steam + Microwave + Convection).
  3. There are 3-in-1 oven with various sizes, of course big one more ex maybe you can check out Tangs... saw many models on display there, but not the Sharp one though. for myself, temperature is high enough for normal baking/grilling... my colleague's Sharp one uses superheated steam - sounds like very hot~ i think hotspots is not a problem unique to 3-in-1, normal oven gets that as well. but i understand what you mean.... the wife will still have the final say since she is the one using all these stuff my Panasonic doesn't have a turntable... will there be big difference? Come to think of it, i've overcooked a few times too... should take your advice to reduce the cooking time
  4. *high 5* yea 30 x 60mm tiles already got enough grout lines for me, don't talk about mosaic....
  5. Now is share share... but must have one dedicated compartment for him cos he is very messy~ better to contain the messiness in his area than to let it spread to my side of the wardrobe...
  6. wah you put in so much effort in the paint work... when i painted my hall room, only one coat of white paint, one coat of colour paint nia.... and that took me 2 days "artistic" cement stroke? LOL...
  7. hahaha looking forward to your pics my flat is one year older than yours.. and the wall is those type that you can clearly see the pattern for the bricks one.... only if previous owner did plastering... then can save cost hahaha
  8. since you are not going to bake much, maybe you can consider those 3-in-1 microwave oven? Steam + microwave + convection. then instead of one built-in oven and one microwave with steam, you only need one oven i'm using a Panasonic one now and very happy with it think Sharp has something similar too, my colleague is using a Sharp one and he's happy too~
  9. this is the first time i heard of this... wonder how it looks like~ maybe you can show me some photos next time for old flats like csingeu's, the walls are very CMI.... painting alone really can't do much. sigh talking about HDB workmanship 20+ years ago
  10. i can't remember exactly but i think Ikea has something like this too.... aluminum composite panel... i was thinking: maybe I can buy one piece from Ikea and cover the wall tiles should the tiles became dirty some years down the road....
  11. hahaha that sounds like me and hubby: Wardrobe = 5.3 ft Me = 2.6 ft + 1.3 ft (half height) Hubby = 1.3 ft + 1.3 ft (half height) he effectively has ~0.5 ft more than you
  12. ya la safe colour will be fine... can last you for years and won't feel outdated~ if Henry tells you "you will stay in your house for so long meh" you tell him back you're planning to stay here forever... hahaha during tile selection, i rejected all the mosaic tiles cos i feel it will be very difficult to wash.... LOL
  13. reading all these is making me very hungry.... the zi char stall i mentioned near the St 31 market is called Kai Xiang, always full of pple during dinner time.... for weekends sometimes gotta wait for more than 1.5 hour~
  14. yup. you can check the loading of your block here: http://www.hdb.gov.sg/bn25/isos119p.nsf/Search?OpenForm if it's still not upgraded (the old 30 Amps supply), then HDB rule says that power rating limit is 1.5kW for storage heater and 3kW for instant heater. if the electrical loading has been upgraded to 40 Amps, then there is no restriction.
  15. what does it mean by rock stone finishing?
  16. hmmmm i specifically checked the label of the heater at my previous place (actually, my sister's place) and it is surely not 1.5kW. just googled and there is a square tank 3kW model, not SG website though... don't tell me SG doesn't sell the 3kW one anymore??? after all my sis one is 13/14 yrs old liao... next time i go back i check for you
  17. heng can install still.... just be careful then... ya hope won't trip hee hee you can change to same Ariston one but 3kW model if really need to.... same size and shape but half the heating time
  18. Previous model is used is Ariston 30L, power 3kW. that time dun have the titanium tank thingy yet now using Ariston 15L Ti tank, power 1.5kW. Wanted to get Jovan but was told that the shop only has 3kW model, 1.5kW is not common... who asked me to stay in old estate.....
  19. Power = 1.5kW.... no wonder take so long, 30L some more.... Jovan ones in market are normally 3kW, that's why it's faster (to be precise, 1.5kW will take double the time since the power rating is half). you should have gotten the 3kW one instead... feeling really sorry for you... btw, how you managed to get the hob installed in the end?
  20. My plastering was below 2k, think 1.8k... maybe becos i used contractor, not ID btw csingeu, on your 35k quote, i think the itemized price is quite ok, but maybe becos it's your mom who asked, so some items are missing and make it looks cheaper. Sometimes there may be some surprise find in neighbourhood contractor... my fren's mom just anyhow find one from the shop downstairs, ended up the uncle is cheap, good, and honest... hahaha i also need to learn about IP cams... would like to install one but keep procrastinating
  21. Maybe you should really check with them again. if it's the 3kW model, it shouldn't take so long. my previous place's Ariston was in use for more than 10 yrs and it never took so long.
  22. if you like what you have, then just stick with it ba~ i also took 1 hour more than you only mah (though i visited 3 shops)
  23. yup pray that everything will go smoothly ya? this is so true... my hubby kenna "chased out" by landlords many times~ he's so glad we have our own home and no need to move around like nomads~
  24. 2.4m?? that's very tall for a lamp almost as high as normal HDB ceiling liao... but yours is EM rite, so has a high ceiling at the living room.... well, i'm one of those that *s-w-e-a-r* by ceiling fan, it is really a lot more cooling than standing fan (i used standing fan in previous place). what ceiling fan does is general area cooling, unlike standing fan that is very localised....
  25. boon lay considered Jurong West so still Jurong mah~ hahaha i heard from my colleague that a lot of good food stalls were gone after they renovated the food centre... btw, i heard that this ID called Decormark near the St 31 market is not bad. Not sure about their quote though... and the zi char restaurant next to it is quite good de... haha it's true... time is also $$. sometimes i just go JE NTUC after work.... not much chance to go wet market if you're working... can't really shed the industrial thing maybe... given that one of the attractions is Science Centre
