  4. Hi, I'm interested too. Please kindly PM me the contact. Thanks~!
  5. fencer, just would like to suggest some possible scenarios. could it be that the window subcon is insisting their product has no problem? this is the reason why "the big boss must see for himself". sometimes, the subcon does not feel the heat of complaint from customer becos they are shielded by the main con (like Henry, who will get your first round of firing). Main con needs customer's help to pressure the subcon so they will buck up and get the job done. in this case, henry needs your help to push the window guy. if you insist on a timeline that he can't commit (he can't chain the window guy to your house, rite?), or if you do not want to meet the window subcon, then you're not helping yourself, brother... well, i'm a noob at house reno too, just that this kind of situation happens in real construction projects, it can happen to HDB reno too. i'm not trying to defend henry here, i just hope to offer a different perspective for you. reno is a lot of money and emotions involved, sometimes we need to step back and look at the bigger picture. now your focus should be to get the window problem solve, though it may not fit your schedule, but these few days delay is better than living with possible leaking windows, rite? my $0.02
  6. yea this is the ideal situation, but there are still times when there is a need to talk to subcons directly. see my explanation to fencer in a later post. on the other hands, there are some pple who prefer to talk to subcon cos things can get done faster. it really depends on individual preference.

  22. oh... different mechanism though end result (flooding) still the same. yea man HDB installed that screen is supposed to be helping us but end up creating problem~ i can't remember how my parents did it... think they secure onto the bracing or something like that, it never flies away la has been there for years i dun think heat dissipation will be a major problem, i m more worried about possible corrosion due to wet cloth left on compressor casing for a long time. maybe can put something in between the mat and casing to ensure no direct contact between them. even with holes, it may help a bit but inevitably there will be some water de. we gotta wipe and clean during rainy days... this is part and parcel of house maintenance nia we can't have fool-proof solutions for everything in our home la
  23. fencer, my window is casement type, not sliding, so the "trench" area should be smaller and slightly different from yours? there were instances when my floor near the window was flooded and of course the "trench" filled with water too. my room dun kenna direct sunlight and not windy de but i never observe how long it takes to dry le haha~ for the compressor hor... my parents is using this method... it's not the best solution but no harm trying for a quick remedy: they place a fabric mat (something like toilet door mat) on top so it dampens the action of water "bouncing" off the surface and reduce splashing. Talking about rain hitting windows, outside my window there is a screen build by HDB. Supposed to shield rain water but end up rain is hitting the screen and deflected into my room....
  24. yea it's very hot... that's why summer holiday is Jul/Aug mahz... too hot to study hahaha but no choice le gotta go back at that time... the only consolation is the summer mega sales hahahaha
