I have tried both ICI & Nippon, it's hard to just compare brand, but you must also take into consideration which range... I personally has experience both ICI "ALL" & Nippon Wash & wear recently when I painted my whole unit. I find ICI ALL adhesion & coverage is very good, meaning I do not need to paint many coat to cover the original base, Nippon Wash & wear somehow I find it rather thin... Well, this is just my personal experience... cheer

Defintion Of Tampered Glass
catfish replied to ningyusof's topic in Moving House: Packing, Storing, Moving To Your New House
In general, tempered glass for window/table etc will look(feel) as ordinary glass, not that I aware it will have distorted image when look at angle. HOWEVER, when you look via polariser glasses (eg Sun glasses that has polariser coating), it will have uneven shadow and/or rainbow effect... . For some special application, eg TV front glass and/or LCD screen, tempered glass is not suitable. You will understand what I meant, when looking at car windscreen (from outside) with polariser sun glasses... Maybe using polariser sun glasses can be potentially a laymen method to test tempered glass... -
Defintion Of Tampered Glass
catfish replied to ningyusof's topic in Moving House: Packing, Storing, Moving To Your New House
Just to share some knowledge from my work experience 1. Car front windscreen is more than just tempered glass, it's laminated, a plastic (PC) is sandwich with 2 pieces of tempered glass (inside/outside), this is to ensure, when you hit a stone up right, the windscreen will not be punctual a hole so easily & the broken glass still holding together by the lamination, this is to reduce injury. Whereas the car side window normally just a tempered glass. 2.It's a misconception that, tempered glass is stronger than ordinary glass, only benefit of tempered glass is, when it shattered, it's less dangerous, without big sharp piece, tempered glass will broken into small pieces 3.For safety, you can always add a transparent safety film onto the any glass (tempered or ordinary), example from 3M, when it broken, at least, the safety film hold the glass together (same concept as car front windscreen.. 4.Tempered glass itself is constantly under high stress, what do I mean? to make tempered glass, the glass is heated to high temperature & then rapid cooling.. that is why, when it broken, it will resulted in small pieces. 5. There is no known laymen method to test tempered glass, except when it's broken , of cos, you can always refer to the label, normally it will have clear label. BTW, I am not relate to 3M -

If metal leg, similar with wood , do a light sanding , then I would recommend to get a spray primer as undercoat, make sure you mask off other area, after dried, apply the final coat with spray paint.. As usual, do not try to apply the final colour onto the old surface, as it will not stick properly..always use primer..

. Dimmer switch is designed for incandescent/halogen light bulb use , if your existing light is energy saving type, then I would suggest forget about it, as it's not compatible. In the market there is a type of energy saving E27 light bulb that is compatible with dimmer switch (Philips has some ), but the price is not cheap, in the range of S25-$30 (as compare to $7-$9). Installation is straight forward, as long as you have a compatible light bulb.. cheer

Depend on what is the original table legs finishing, is that some wood finishing(dye, clear coat) or just paint based? normally, just start with a light sanding (start with 180 grade), then apply with wood undercoat, sand again with say grade 300 (finer), then apply the final coat of paint .... Avoid direct paint over the old surface without undercoat, as the paint will not stick properly, it will come out easily & expose the ugly base (which is dark brown)....

Looking For Teak Furniture
catfish replied to T.Mandy's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
In general, Most teak wood furniture in Singapore is handmade (made by hand in Indonesia), & the finishing is quite rough un-refined, depend on your liking, some like the rough raw rusty look, some do not. Higher end teak furniture (Scanteak, d-bodhi etc) has very smooth & nice design/finishing, mainly machine made, join are perfect, drawer is smooth.. surface is silk smooth.. nail hole is nicely seal etc etc It's all depend on individual choice & preference... of cos, the price is vary too... -

Yup, Colonial Antique has a web site : www.charislife.com, can take a look. Besides Scanteck, another nice teak furniture source, but not cheap. Mainly recycled teak. http://www.d-bodhi.com/ These are those more refined teak design furniture around in Singapore, unlike those normal handmade type.. Recycled teak in general more ex, & typically lighter than planted teak, as the wood is very well seasoned & moisture level is very low cheer -
You can try Tang @ vivo city level 2, saw it last weekend, it's from Goodrich (the company that specialise in wall paper) basically it consist of a decal sticker which form the back & the clock mechanism, if you do not like the decal design, you can just use the clock mechanism & do up your own clock 'face' or number... Alternatively, go to Bras Basah & look for shop called Art Friend, saw it few week back, they're selling the clock mechanism ... cheer
