How huh? I was thinking of sealing the 2 sides and behind the hob, but the spill may not necessary flow backwards because the solid surface top is levelled, nobody will cater for the gradient for the flow right? The overflow is towards any directions like eruption I think might as well seal up all 4 sides and if it cracks in the long use, just replace another piece lor. Can the thermal pot I saw in your kitchen be used for boiling soup?

This morning when I leave the house, the hob is lifted in the position as seen in the photograph, and the drawer is ajar to dry the interior. When I came home this evening, the hob & drawer are all properly put in place & closed. I don't know whether I should cry or laugh...if I'm in yesterday's foul mood & my son's gf is at home just now, I guess I would flare up again. Why? The interior wooden cabinet needs to air & dry after the spills last evening for at least next 4 days for it to completely dry out! Otherwise it would become mouldy! Yuk! Hai......she is still a little girl but I know she is trying to pacify me by keeping the place neat, putting back the hob & drawer after the incident yesterday. If she comes back with my son later, I will talk to her nicely. Afterall, she is quite a nice lady ...well mannered & soft spoken lady. But looking at my son's BaZi chart, the wedding bell won't ring until 3-4 years later. Otherwise, his marriage won't last if he marries earlier.

Boiling or cooking using pressure cooker will not overflow. The solid surface top contractor just called and explained alot to me. He also suggested that I train my son's gf to use bigger pots when boiling soup, or use rice-cooker or those cookware with depth deep enough to hold the volume. He explained that the heat will disperse in the long run when cooking and will react with the silicon to produce toxic gas. The cook will inevitably inhale the toxic gas and bad for health. He does not want his firm to be blamed for intoxication! Further, he noted that there should be a rubber lining for the hob to sit on it. But this is missing for the model of the hob which I bought. The worker is coming this Saturday to seal the edges along the hob for me. At the same time, the worker is also re-polishing the solid surface top....sob sob sob.... I will explain this after it is re-polished on Saturday...very paisei.....there are 'eyes' here...

Dear Marshy This is a good piece of advice! Before renovation, I have one glass induction hob (never used) and one stainless steel type (frequently used by maid), both were sealed but after a while the silicon glue on the stainless steel became 'burnt' and the hardened residue came off easily. I have in mind to ask the contractor to use transparent silicon to seal only 3 sides of the glass hob, to leave some rooms for thermal heat expansion.

Office politics are unavoidable. If my luck is not so good, I keep low profile, ignore all office politiking. I am not interested in joining them. If I am capable and doing the right thing, there is nothing for me to worry at all. That can stab me or whatever they want to do, I won't bleed or get killed! But in FS terms, Looks like you are facing one your inauspicious sector - Huo Hai, or located in this sector. If you are sitting in this Huo Hai sector, available cure is to tap into Fu Wei by placing wooden objects to harmonise the effect of Huo Hai. The above is based on 8-mansion theory. Then, in BaZi theory, there is another method and I will leave to other experts here to advise (like tapping your Gui Ren ).

The MERLION, which supposed to be the Guardian of Singapore River, is now being trapped inside the RED BOX!

We had a feng shui tour last Sunday with my fsm and a FS tour guide, and visited 7 places in Singapore. At one of the stop visiting the Chinese temple along Telok Ayer Street, I saw this building (Hokkien Hui Guan) which is facing directly opposite the temple, with interesting features: Noticed the pass-through area at their lobby: Metal sharp Features along the facade of this building: Most interesting is the Pair of EYES at the Top of the Building: The Chinese Temple (Hokkien Ma-chu) directly opposite the building: More information on our feng shui tour will be shared in my reno t-blog.

My ID called me this morning and told me that he will ask the solid surface contractor to come & seal the hob for me. He said the contractor will explain to me the pro & con, as the silicon will heat up & becomes toxic, and there is heat transmission which will cause the glass hob to crack! That's why they did not encourage to seal up the glass hobs. But if I insisted, then I cannot blame them when the glass hobs cracked while cooking in the future, and I have to sign an indemnity form when the solid surface contractor comes to visit me. I did check with my friend who knows Darren of PlushLiving during my renovation, and he confirmed the same logic too...nobody ever seal up the glass hobs. Has anyone came across this problem? Did you seal up the edges of your glass hob?

Ya lor, lousy MIL....didn't communicate with her. But I would still prefer that she comes and helps to clean up my place, especially my son's bedroom but don't cook like a storm! Now come to think of it, I feel bad for scolding her and 'bing bing bang bang' the pots & pans aiming to throw my anger at her last evening. It was her first time using the neat kitchen and this is due to her ignorance, not negligent as she had cleaned up the surface area & washed the pots. My son had sms to inform me that his gf is taking dinner and has cooked the soup for us. So, I packed some cooked veg & meat from foodcourt except for plain rice which I will cook for them. If I didn't take out the rice cooker from the drawer, I would not have spotted the soup stains underneath the hob.

Ya lor....nasty MIL... She didn't know that the soup will overflow & seep through the unsealed hob into the bottom drawer. A flaw in the characteristic of a Ting Fire person, quick tempered! Oh...I will text you the info you asked me....and congrats on getting the approval from ah gong to hack the 2 walls.

Hi, Ely1 You can plot your chart, with DOB & time here: http://www.masteryacademy.com/bio2/profile/registerBPS.asp You can also PM me & I can send you a brief analysis. With an "Analyser" profile, there are pros & cons ...because at it's extreme, it is Procastinating! Take the Philips soundbar & an iPad which I'm supposed to get in late January. Then, I thought of waiting for IT show & buy at the show where there are promotions. What happened now? I'm still contemplating if I should buy a soundbar for TV console, or to get an entertainment system & place it in my room. I am also contemplating if I should get an iPad, or a notebook (after I get rid of the old notebook & desktop while moving out last Nov), comparing my preference against usage. Now, I have moved in for 2 months & Im still thinking of what to buy!! Of course I do have weakness for new clothes and they are impulse buys & are still with tags intact, sitting in my wardrobe!! I really admire those forumers like yourself who made it an effort to buy all stuffs while renovation is still in progress. You have really bought a lot of things ready, right?

An evening filled up with frustration! All thanks to that gf of my eldest son! She came over to cook soup for my son. Well, of so many ex-gf, this lady is nice & kind of like the Jane next door who can cook! I know it is inevitable the soup will overflow if you left the soup to boil unattended. She had cleaned up the mess but she is not aware that the soup has already seeped through the hob & dripped underneath the drawer. I have spotted this issue earlier - that is the hob is sitting on the cut-out solid surface top and the edges are not sealed. ID explained to me that without the silicon seal, it looks nicer & most people left it unsealed. But if I want it sealed up, he will arrange it, so any liquid overflow will not seep through the edge of hob. So, when the carpenter came weeks ago, I forgot to ask him to seal the hob. For today's mess, it took me 30 mins to clean up the pots & pans underneath, lift up the hob to clean & dry it. I'm a clean freak & can't help but scolded my son & his gf for making the kitchen in a mess! I asked her NOT to cook anymore!!!
