  1. For the 'Water Theory', Water has vital and significant role to play in Feng Shui implementation, as it is one of the 5 Elements in the study of Chinese Metaphysics. Qi tends to collect and gather where Water is found, and Water in turn accumulates, collects, and gathers Qi. In that same vein, Water can also be used to retain or hold in good Qi (Sheng Qi) or neutralise bad Qi (Sha Qi). In simple terms, water in Feng Shui is to activate, circulate, and move the Qi around your property. But bear in mind that Water does not actually emit Qi.
  2. To add on, in flying stars theory, the house natal chart is the fixed chart of your property for a period of 20 years. It is the potential that is inherent within the property, based on period of construction. In addition, we also consider the Annual Stars that fly in to the individual areas and sectors which will act as catalysts for the sectors in that property, thereby allowing you to know which sectors can be enhanced and improved, and which areas should be left undisturbed or unused. Let's say you find out that your secondary bedroom is within a sector that is good for studies and for work next year, and helps increase productivity, you have the option of using that room as your study or workspace for the year.
  3. Beside 8-mansion, most commonly practised by FSM is the Flying Stars technique. I need to stress that the aim of Feng Shui is to tap into the Qi (cosmic energies) of the living environment to enhance the quality of life. Qi simply refers to the body of energy that exists in the natural world. Qi is not man-made, or reproduced through artificial means. It is the naturally-occurring energy that exists in the world. Simply put, Feng Shui is about harnessing and tapping into that Qi in order to improve one’s quality of life and to allow for one’s deepest potential to flourish. When we conduct FS audit, we are giving the owner an insight into the potential of his/herproperty, but do bear in mind that it might affect the different occupants of the house in different ways. With the information, we will capitalise on any positive potential it confers, as well as manage and reduce the effect of any possible negative implications that might exist in the house, based on the natal chart (birth chart of the house).
  4. We need to bear in mind that this does not mean all houses will have 4 inauspicious sectors and become HALF bad house! There is always remedy and cure in the form of enhancements. Good sectors are utilised for areas where we spend most of our time, like Bedrooms.
  5. It will only activated if you start cooking and washing...as you mentioned, human being is the Qi carrier too.
  6. When we evaluate external forms, things like sharp electrical pylons, 'Bo-tak' Unhealthy mountain, dirty murky water are example of bad Qi which we do not like to receive, either at front door, side door, or whichever openings or view from the windows. It will be even detrimental if confronted with bad flying stars residing at that sector. Dark, long corridors are also not conducive, and we do not want beams running across the main door. Ofcourse, some of you already aware that we cannot place stove & water in confronting direction, etc etc.
  7. Hi, CoffeeMan Many thanks for your concern. I have anticipated the air circulation issue and the new living room will be dark. I am hacking down the wall between dining and kitchen. As the stove may be seen from the dining area, there will 2 panels of wooden sliding windows and will open it when not cooking. I am also relocating the fridge to the corner of the kitchen for unobstructed view from Living to Kitchen. When the 3D drawings are ready, I will post them here. I forgotten to tell my ID the colour scheme given by FSM.
  8. To newbie83 Thank you for your inquiry on my ID. Your inbox is full, hence I can't send you my reply.
  9. I moved my furniture around every now and then, do a minor spring cleaning to activate good Qi. For this reason, I cannot lay parquet flooring in the rooms, as there would be scratches. Electrical appliances like TV, fan and radio are considered 'Qi activator' and we must be mindful of their placement.
  10. Qi is dispersed by the wind and gathers at the boundary of water. The core foundation of Feng Shui focuses on the existence of “Qi” or life force which is believed to permeate in our living environment. In the study of Chinese Metaphysic, every home is demarcated into 8 palaces or sectors according to the system known as Eight Mansions (BaZhai). So, your house can either be East Group or West Group house. Each group has 4 auspicious and 4 inauspicious sectors within the house. If the external landform within the vicinity of our house is conducive, Qi will be able to enter the house through the main entrance of the house. Our home is regarded as a container of Qi and the 8 sectors of the house are either auspicious or inauspicious depending on where positive Qi or negative Qi collects. So, auspicious sectors will bring good luck to the residents whereas the inauspicious sectors, bad tidings.
  11. Will go ahead to buy this model of rainshower system, but will get the square shower head instead.
  12. I was at Poh Joo Hardware at Jalan Besar yesterday and saw this undermount sink in black granite. Told my ID that I like it but he is concerned about durability as water sippage may rot the cabinet in the long run, and once the wooden cabinet rots, it may not hold the weight of the granite sink. Wow, he thinks so far away! Can build a concrete base for the sink, and then covered up with laminate or to custom-made the integrated sink which mould together with the solid surface top. Cost wise, it is about the cost of constructing the concrete sink support + Granite sink. Can anyone share your experience with undermount sink? Any problem with water sippage underneath the sink?
  13. The empty Kitchen - no more mess! Empty Living Room - everything gone by Sunday night! My house becomes so clean now! The beautiful ceiling light **** room - neighbour will dismantle it on Thursday. The vacant 2nd & 3rd Bedroom
  14. The floor Plan - original vs 2D Packing in progress - my FS books with soft toys to cushion the books. Cannot load full carton of books, else how to lift the box? Moving Out Process - total 7 trips for those stuffs we are keeping including the King Size Sealy Mattress, 2 IKEA side boards, a chair, 2-seater sofa and our clothings. BIL Brother-In-Law In Action! TV console and chairs are gone
  15. Right, it will be an extreme makeover as I intend to renew the Qi in the house. FSM deemed that I am the sole female breadwinner of the family and the house must be bright (Yang). I have initially wanted to opt for the full frosted glass panel (about $1200 - $1500), but natural light does not pass through. Cannot have clear glass as it is a converted bedroom facing the door entrance. Further, due to space contraint, behind the frosted glass panel is the only suitable place for the full height wardrobe. I will be loading the floor plans and photos later today.
  16. Have been busy like BEES for the past few days... Finally moved everything out of the house. Have visited 2 places with ID to shop for accessories for Kitchen/Bath/Toilets. Obtained quotations from Poh Joo Hardware at Jalan Besar and Asia Excel at Balestier Road - all exceeds $3,000. Among them, the most expensive item is the complete set of rain shower which I am 'eyeing' costs $640 - for rain shower system model PJ85 2760 ($430) + 502SQW shower rose tap ($210). Also saw a cheaper model at Asia Excel at $400, but without the light effect. The new generations of luxury shower heads are both beautiful and functional. I will go for square shower heads, and will decide what to buy probably next month during Sales? Have confirmed Mitsuibishi Sytem 4 (by Mitsuibishi Heavy Industries) to Aircon Designs Pte Ltd (cost: $3700 including installation & new bracket). Next is the ceiling lights, cove lights etc at *** Lightings, TradeHub21. Confirmed all the lights as it was not a choice but necessity and price range was acceptable after viewing several shops on my own prior to ID's recommendations. Total spent $3800; the most expensive item is the chandelier which comes with crystals & LED lights for dining area, $899. It is like $10K gone in day if everything was confirmed yesterday Will be heavy photos loading next...
  17. Someone told me that the design of Toshiba inverter Aircon looks old fashion. Has anyone installed Panasonic or LG brand? I know that LG won the Best Aircon accolade for 3 consecutive years. Any comments?
  18. Got to wake up early to pack my own stuffs in master bedroom. Second day of packing and moving out by today. So tiring; have been packing from morning to late night for the past 2 days. I guess most of you agree that packing is tiring and unpacking thereafter is equally exhaustive! More furnitures given away yesterday: the TV console, tall glass display cabinet and a study table were given to another neighbour. She is also taking the ceiling light at my living room. Beside these items, she is going to remove the toilet bowl and accessories as she claimed mine are in better condition than hers.
  19. Here are reasons why I don't like the 5ft wall with gypsum board & clear glass on top: 1. It limits the height of wardrobe in the new converted bedroom. Look's weird with a 5ft high wardrobe in the new bedroom. 2. No privacy for the room. We won't peep, but the person sleeping in the bedroom wont feel secured. 3. It faces the front door, and it looks like office partition which I feel not suitable. 4. Gypsum board is not a good sound barrier; both sofa & TV are just outside. As for frosted glass full height type, it looks nice but light does not pass through and my new living room will be dark. Further, you can see the blurry image of the person inside!
  20. Thank you for the well wishes! By the way, any recommendation for glass hobs? My new colleague who is also a forumer here recommended Hobz.
  21. JE is also close to my place Wishing u a smooth reno process.
  22. You are right! The master of the house must stay in bigger room! The FSM realized I am the sole bread winner of our family and want more lights into the converted living room. Shop around from IDs to contractors, and finally met this ID who came up with the idea of using glass blocks for partial wall to let in the light and at the time, provide privacy to the converted bedroom. A contractor and 2 IDs proposed full height frosted glass wall, and 2 other IDs just simply followed my instruction without offering any comments. A couple who were highly recommended in this forum came & criticised that glass blocks but they offered no solution on how to let light in to the living room and at the same time provide privacy to the converted bedroom. The worst idea came from an ID who proposed 5ft partition using gypsum board with top level clear glass! I am really exhausted scouting around for ideas to solve this wall dividing the living room and a new bedroom. In the beginning, I have shortlisted one ID and a contractor with the cheapest price for all items. But some items quoted by the contractor are even higher than IDs. As for that ID, he always asked that I meet him at his office instead of him coming to discuss the items with me on site. He came to my place once and that was upon my request. He also didn't bother to follow up his quote. In the end, I dropped both of them like hot potatoes Among the 8 firms that I approached, only Donny came across as very diligent, good problem solving skills, very helpful and everytime he has the quotations ready, he will call and visit me at my home to discuss the items. Thereafter, he will call again and asked if I need any clarification or not. Even on the day when I told him I was going to award based on pricing, he didn't retreat and still remain vPery patient, polite and offer to meet up with me to discuss my items knowing that I am 99% sure to award to others. Therefore, it is Donny's great efforts going extra miles to meet customers who are so busy like me, his relentless efforts to accommodate to my requests, his design concept and constant follow ups to discuss my items which eventually let to my decision to appoint him as my ID.
  23. Have been a busy day packing stuffs with the help of my sister. She also helped to arrange a Nissan lorry @ $65 per day, minimum 2 days rental with $200 deposit. Smart idea as I just started packing yesterday and won't finished until Sunday. My neighbor had collected the dining table and chairs. The rest of items - L shape sofa, fridge, washing machine all in good working condition will be given to PR friends of brother-in-law. My brother-in-law will drive the rented lorry and deliver to them on Sunday morning. All other stuffs which I'm keeping them will be stored at my sister's place from tomorrow. As for the bulky wardrobe, shoe cabinets and junks, I have asked the town council to collect them for disposal. I am also asking my brother-in-law to drop off the old cloths, bedlinens, some collectibles and gift items to the Salvation Army. With the above arrangement, I definitely need a lorry & a driver. I am very thankful to my brother-in-law.
  24. I have heard of this curtain maker. How about the ones at Clementi? I need to get them sewn as those off the racks are not my taste.
  25. Bingo I remember I was waiting for my property agent to view a unit at next block. While waiting, decided to go over to this point block and was immediately drawn to the unique side entry. I was lucky there was this unit up for sale when I told the agent my preference. Paid $5k COV and immediately got the deal signed while waiting for valuation report.
