  1. Oh, another bad thing that happened today. Found a chip in the living room floor, still don't know who the culprit was. Sad. We'll either use some marble gum on it or replace the whole tile. Replacing will be very troublesome and the end result likely won't be optimal either. Either way, it sucks. Cr@p happens.
  2. Kitchen walls Textured and rough, very nice. However, we have found out that cleaning can be a real hassle. You can't use normal cloth to wipe it, the fabric will get caught on the rough and abrasive surface.. Kitchen feature wall We like this quite some even though it looks pretty normal. Its a natural stone tile from Italy and it darkens and gleams when its wet. Kitchen floor/bathroom floor Simple rough flooring, will help to prevent slips. The one in the common bathroom is grey instead of black. Bathroom wall We didn't really like this choice in the beginning but its slowly growing on us. Its glossy but yet a little textured, easy to clean.
  3. Some close up pics of the tiles in different areas.. Good if you want to see the texture and feel of them.. Living room Smooth and polished flush with the grout, feels like 1 huge piece of marble, we like the natural stone feel.. MBR This is another one of our weird selections, now we have a headache, there are remnants of grout/cement on the uneven surface of the tiles but this tile can't take acid washing. D@mn. Gotta find a way to clean it.. 2 other bedrooms Slightly textured, find it quite nice actually. Somewhat classy and understated.
  4. Some pictures of the chrome plating on the washing machine which has already been eaten away. Irreversible damage, haven't even used it once. Heart pain man. These are all on the front loader's swing door, maybe I really should spray paint it black. *#&@!
  5. Saw some bad things happen today, metals in the kitchen showed signs of rust. Had to autosol everything, even the built-in oven. Some irreversible damage was caused to the washing machine chrome plating. A lesson for everyone, don't trust house cleaners. Be there when they are doing the cleaning or they will happily splash corrosive fluids everywhere and claim it wasn't them. If I went over a few days late, my dish rack, washing machine, built in oven, all exposed stainless steel pipes would have been rusted beyond hope. Kitchen wall tiles are porous and have likely absorbed quite some of those acidic/corrosive cleaning agents. Won't be surprised it they slowly vaporize over the days and cause more damage to the stainless steel pipes. What to do? Some pictures la.. Remnants of cleaning agent on the walls, its totally not water.. check out the colour.. Pipes which started to rust, Wiped off with autosol.. Cleaned pipe..
  6. Thank you! Will update when I can.. The glass shower screen and door came today but I was too distracted and forgot to take pictures.. Will talk more about the distractions later.. Thanks! Glad to see someone else who likes the living room tile.. You might change your mind though after I post pictures of the living room. Haha.. But as my contractor said, every piece of tile is a piece of art by itself. Heeey, I didn't give any good reviews yet. I haven't even started using it. Hahaaa.. I just talked about what I knew which swayed my decision to purchase this. MIGHT not be true! Hehe..
  7. Sunday's coming soon! Hope things are moving along fine..
  8. Maomao is dang anti-social, don't think she'd like to be friends with anybody. Sometimes I think she doesn't even like us. Haha.. Will take more pics of completed tiling areas soon. Maybe tomorrow, will be going over in the afternoon.. Shall PM you my quote..
  9. Choose whatever you like! In the end, its your house, not the contractor's house.. 8 out of 10 people think my choice of living room tile is crazy/ugly/ridiculous/stupid/etc.. but wifey and I like it, thats the most important thing isn't it? So we chose it!
  10. Hahaa.. Xie xie.. We tried to make the best of it. The WC was right smack in the middle.. Not ideal at all.. Its also SOOO tiny.. Thank you! We have seen this kind of marble (the white one) used on a building at Beach Road, looked quite bad. Glad it turned out ok.. Hey JS, we can't wait to see the end product either.. Hahaa.. Quite nervous about how things would look in the end.. Fingers crossed! The wallpaper is really interesting, have never seen anything like that before. Wifey and I are quite amused at the idea but we probably can't have any wallpaper, walls are the old school kind of textured plastering.. Yeah, I noticed your hand showers, they are quite cute. Wifey doesn't like the colors though, I ended up topping up a bit and changing the hand shower to a slightly different one from the normal ones. Still looking quite normal, haha.. I hear you regarding the LG washer, its really tempting and the specs are so high for something so reasonably priced. Just had to take the plunge and give LG a try! Wish us both luck, hehe.. Your fridge sounds expensive.. Ours was chosen based purely on aesthetics.. The doors are covered with black glass and it goes with the kitchen cabinets. D@rn bimbotic.. Hahaa.. Contractors accidentally broke the wc in the toilet while trying to fix a minor leak, they had to buy another one to replace it. Felt sorry for them but heard absolutely no grumbles on their end. Glass doors and sliding shower screen to be up tomorrow! All thats left is for the marble people to deliver the vanity top and plumber to fix up the taps n sink after that. Can't wait!
  11. Hmm.. Normal front load washing machines have a motor that is connected to a belt that moves the drum, direct drive machines have different motors that are directly connected to the drum. DD machines are thus quieter and probably will last longer than normal machines.
  12. Just googled Kartell componibili.. Haha.. Pardon my mountain tortoise-ness But look at this.. Similar right? Industrial theme mah.. Haha.. I used to work with these quite some, so it came to mind.. hehe.. About our kitchen, nope, we won't be cooking much, actually we have green stone wall tiles above the backsplash. Its everywhere else that we're using this textured tile, it does seem really porous. Did some minor cleaning and scrubbing and a lot of water was absorbed into it..
  13. Many ways oh.. Wifey says old newspaper, crumpled up, opened up, thrown in and left inside to absorb smells. Charcoal works too, pandan leaves, lemon peels, also baking soda.. Why not just throw them all in
  14. Just wanted to share this wonderful bookshelf incorporated into the living room. Its Ben Stiller's house actually. We so wanted something like that but couldn't find any carpenter with this kind of worksmanship in Singapore. Would probably have had to bring in someone from Indonesia. Pity lah.
  15. Love the feature wall, its wonderfully ballsy and quaint. Is that an oil drum we see with a lamp on it? Really nice! Side note, We are using the same textured horizontally lined wall tiles, yours on the MBR toilet walls and ours on our kitchen walls. Its dang nice la. Especially when there's light on it.
  16. Fingers and toes, all crossed for you.. Aiyoh.. Its raining now..
  17. Our floor plan and layout, anyhow use MSpaint chop chop do one.. Hehe.. The slanting wall at the end of the living room was a headache, we decided to settle for a slanted tv, sometimes we might move the tv console to face the sofa.. See how la, will see when the furniture arrives.. We do have countertops and cabinets in the kitchen, just lazy to insert into the picture, its full length lor along the left side.. 2 other rooms, to be furnished later..
  18. Thanks everyone for the kind and generous comments. Quite reassuring. We were initially worried that the tiles would turn out looking weird, we felt that the floor and shower area marble was quite an adventurous selection. Hehe, maomao was just minding her business sitting on a table, I rolled a tissue roll under her chin and she rested her head on it. I then decided to take a picture of her and she felt bitter. Funny.. Cats are very expressive, maybe next time I'll post a compilation of her different expressions.. The rainshower (BauLoop) and hand shower (Bau Cosmopolitan) are from Grohe. Got them from Royal Fanco at Jalan Besar.
  19. Our MBR toilet is half done. Tiling is done, WC installed, rainshower and carpentry for vanity top as well. Only left, marble top, installation of basin n taps, mirror, showerscreen and glass door Actually thats not "only", thats a lot. Haha.. Here are some pics! Tiles, left most one is for our MBR floor(homogeneous), middle one for some walls (marble), right one for floor and shower area (marble) Close up of the completed tiling Shower area with rainshower and WC (0 ticks, we like ) Will update as more things get done. Hehe.
  20. Think you need a small picture? Smaller than 100 x 100 pixels.. Gif or jpg..
  21. Hope you get a great deal this weekend! The sales this year seem to be pretty good, maybe people are tightening up their wallets thus causing prices to be lowered more.. The light is really bright and we have 2 of them along the kitchen, no shadows at all. Its pretty nice, wifey chose them and she feels quite smart. Haha.. All cats seem to be brats. But so d@rn lovable..
  22. Wah.. You guys actually do homework! Don't know how long its been since we last went to the library. Wifey feels ashamed that she forgot this option exists. All she did was buy reno mags. Haha.. Husband just made decisions based on feel and nothing else. Think you guys will end up with a really nice end product.
  23. Show you my paint selection.. Hehe.. Some of our walls will be Nobel Grey and some Mosiac Grey. Ceiling will be Grey Star. Doors will be Suede. Pipes in the kitchen and common toilet to be Iguana or a darker green. A warning, Nobel Grey is very dark.. Haha.. We like..
  24. Wah.. On the bed and under the quilt! Good life! Happy and good looking meow you have there..
