  1. Nice media room! So envious! Judging from the pics you have posted, your house is at Jurong West right? I am living quite near to you... maybe next time I'll drop by your house for some free movies! Haha.... *thick skin*
  2. Hi Defelio, Since you have bought it, there's no harm trying it. I painted 3 coats of the metal primer on my concrete wall (concrete wall was already painted with Dulux paint, i just applied it over) The brush will be as good as gone after you used it with the metal primer. There's quite an amount of iron dust in the primer, which is very hard to wash off even with thinner/tupertine. This is unlike the chalkboard paint, where it can be removed/washed off easily with water. Remember to constantly stir the primer because the iron dust in it tends to settle down to the bottom of the container fast. For me, (maybe because I dun have the flair for D-I-Y), I wasn't able to get an even coat of the primer over my wall, with different areas having varying amounts of iron dust on it, thus if someone were to go near and scrutinize the area, they can see uneveness (due to some areas having concentrated amount of the iron particles while other areas don't) on the wall. Haha --- ugly. Some areas now can hold off magnets stronger than other areas. But even the area with the highest concentration of iron dust doesn't hold magnets as well as I wanted it to be. Probably works if you gonna only hold memos/paper notes with the magnets.
  3. Hi, I have used this on my current wall and painted over with chalkboard paint. Word of advice: it doesnt have a strong hold... am using rare earth magnets (strongest magnet) on it. Still doesnt hold well. Not easy to apply the paint also
  4. Congratz on your marriage and completion of your reno!
  5. And straying from the topic: Y i say that this is a promotional thread : to sell and/or promote mkt awareness. 1) you already have a hidden agenda, which is to promote your ideas, from the first day you joined renotalk forums. Look your your recent joined date and your nick. 2) i have seen you post in a lot of other threads, and most of them are just to clock post counts --- to increase your credibility. 3) you sound like you are doing promotion rather than sharing your ideas here Afternote: i have not been posting in RT forums for quite a long time because i dun see a need to. But i just dun like the way u try to disguise or hide a promotional thread and term it a a sharing thread. True, you try to provide some good Reno info at first (which is ripped off from others) and share some pics of your reno. These small things u try to do are just hoodwinks to me. You try to do it like a t-blog so you can put your thread here because t-blog is the most active and has the highest traffic. I wont mind if you are honest right from the start
  6. Hi Renoseeker, I think you have yet to address the question of the limited selection of renovators. My opinion is that unless your operations have become incredibly big, there is no real incentive for renovators to sign up with you and give u a cut of their profits. You have given extra work to the renovators --- more manpower is exhausted to cope with an intermediary and also the house owner. Operating costs become higher and surely they get passed to customers. I think the most likely situation is : all the renovators which are engaged through RS will all mark up their pricing to pass on the costs to home owners. We will be better off looking for renovators ourselves, coz the same job, going through the same renovator, will be cheaper this way. Home owners are limited by the number of renovators you have in your panel. I will be better off sourcing for renovators myself, having the discretion to select and interview anyone, everyone in the market. If you are thinking of doing this like a search engine like goggle and yahoo, then do it like a pure search engine. If you are not thinking along this way, then dun use your business model and compare it with goggle and yahoo. I think your model will only work if renovators believe in this model. Not the house owners. Your should seek more feedback from renovators rather than from us.
  7. No offense, although you term this as a sharing thread to aid all the people here in renotalk, it seems to me this is like a promotional thread to sell your services and create market awareness. You are intelligent, coz you know how to embed the 'selling' and disguise this as a normal t-blog. Anyway my personal view: 1) Renovation is not about reports and prices, it also involves chemistry between the the client and renovator. We look for IDs and contractors whom we can communicate and are comfortable with ---- which is what your service lacks 2) How much the renovator understands our requirements depends largely on how well your 'service agents' understands us, the client. Important bits of info are often lost when a medium is engaged. I dun feel comfortable with a 3rd party helping to communicate my needs. 3) from what renoseeker will be doing, dun think the service comes cheap. I am sure if renovators will price that cost in somehow if it is substantial. 4) because you are paid by the renovators, there is a potential conflict of interest here. You get paid no matter what your performance is(in this case, finding a good renovator). So if your service sucks to the core, u still get paid by the renovators. There is no real incentive for you to really 'perform'. There is also the question of your neutrality --- do you have affliated renovators whom you will try to push for to the clients? Do some Renovators give u more 'commission'? All these we will nor know coz all are transparent to us, the clients. 5) selection of renovators through you is limited. Am not sure how many renovators u are able to attract to give quotations and drawings judging from your current operations. I applaud your creativeness,, but there are just too many concerns left to be addressed.
  8. Hi NN, Wow, your house is the cover feature of this month's issue of squarerooms! Congrats. Its not easy to get featured in a magazine, much less be on the cover of it! Your business should be booming with all the recent publicity!
  9. Hi Sleek, Glad to see that your buyer saga has ended and nice to have you back! All the best for your reno!
  10. Dinobros, paiseh I totally forgot I promised to take pics and upload them here. Will try to take some and upload it. Sorry!
  11. Footprints, yours is certainly eye candy to me! Love how your lights create the moods and effects around different areas of your house.
  12. One side of your kitchen glass door is fixed? Will bigger items like the fridge be able to squeeze through the one sided door?
  13. I love the mahjong ones. Haha
  14. From the pictures, your place definitely looks like a landed house/pte apartment! The real thing should be many times nicer than what we see here in the pics.
  15. Wow! Thanks for the pics! Really beautiful, sleek and minimalist. Very comfy feel. Makes me wanna move in too. Haha
