  1. Do you intend to make structural changes like combine main bedroom and bedroom2 into larger master bedroom and put in walk in wardrobe. This is the trend for people who don't have kids. Bedroom 3 convert into study/spare room.
  2. depends on your requirements. most people just get racks to put their barang2. or are you thinking of other purpose. structural changes not allowed. change of door is also not allowed.
  3. Adding a switch, just get an electrician.
  4. What do you mean glass backing for kitchen, you mean as backsplash? IMHO it is still essential to use tempered glass. Found this in a quick internet search. http://www.glasskoteusa.com/backsplash.html And don't worry about stoves and heat. GlassKote USA recommends the use of tempered glass which can withstand a rapid heat shock, so it won't crack if you accidentally rest a hot pot against the backsplash.
  5. Haven't done before, have you tried asking at self fix or home fix?
  6. Hard to say as quotes can range widely depending on the material used etc.
  7. To engage your own contractors for the various jobs, as mentioned you need time, project management skills and know what you want. Scheduling of the various contractors etc isn't an easy task. Why don't you check on how much savings you'll get by obtaining quotes for the various jobs. You may not get the prices that IDs would get. Essentially what would the savings be if you were to handle the contractor role. Offset that against the time, stress, running about for that savings. If it's minimal renovation I would say go for it. But if it's extensive I would be hesistant. Of course you have to live within your budget.
  8. Used to see a display in Ikea Tampines where they had the strips and tools. Don't see it anymore. Check with them. Think they have everything. The only problem is getting a good saw to cut the strips. The electrical ones won't be cheap. The hand saws might not work as well.
  9. IIRC Tangs selling them. http://us.oregonscientific.com/cat-Digital...ion-Clocks.html
  10. Interesting. Now I know when shopping for furniture. My new flat is on the 16th floor!
  11. Curtain rods can be bought from Spotlight at Plaza Singapura also. They also provide sewing services. Spotlight and Ikea asides from having good selection of curtain material also have ready made curtains.
  12. The lift can't be used? How does the saleswoman know the size of the staircase at your condo?
  13. Very strange as no invoice is provided. What's the payment arrangement? When is the delivery date?
  14. Take a look at Ikea for ideas. I like the look of some of their models. There's a back panel where the tv is mounted and the wires would be hidden. http://www.ikea.com/sg/en/catalog/products/S79895355
  15. How much is the painter charging for the work and material? Why are you hacking the storeroom away? Unless you need the space better to keep it so you can save on the tiling up the space, might not be able to get the same tile design/colour. Should you sell the flat later might put away some buyers as most folks do need a storeroom. Wardrobes you can purchase ready built instead of custom to save costs. These can be replaced later when you have the cash. What's your budget? I think it best to spend you cash first on stuff that requires hacking etc. Keep the stuff that can be done later when you have the cash is better. Then you won't have to compromise on quality and later spend more to maintain/repair/replace.
  16. Looking for something like this? http://www.ikea.com/sg/en/catalog/products/40162887
  17. Thinking of that as well. Frosted glass would look good. Would need to talk to the contractor about building one. I prefer something that would not be fixed permanently so there would be flexibility to change the space later. Thanks!
  18. Due to space constraint in the bedrooms and there is no study, I have to place the computer in the living area. I would like to have a partition or divider to allow for privacy etc. Need not be full height. My concern of office table with partitions would make it looking too much of an office. My wife doesn't like those portable room dividers. Any suggestions or solutions? TIA
