  1. Hi GMC, What kind of manufacturing defects for the rainshower? And what brand and model of the wash basins leaked? I just bought all my stuff from them - recommended y my contracter.
  2. Hi Sirbast, How is the 2 way heater switch? Did you install it in the end? We are looking at doing the same thing. Good?
  3. Hi Veronehoo, Nice before and after pictures, esp the toilets. =) By the way, did you hired an electrician? Happy with the work? Would you recommend him? How was the quotation like? Cheers, GetFuzzy.
  4. I don't know if it's bad luck or what. Do electricians dislike giving quotations? Went through with 2 electricians and found ourselves chasing for quotations everyday. Each time we called/ sms, they say will email by end day but nothing. One said already emailed but our Inbox is empty every day. Another gave a lump sum quote and when we asked for detailed breakdown via email, there's nothing till now. Dragging and delaying our time day after day. So fustrated.
  5. Hi, I think your bay window seats are very nicely done. I am thinking of doing it for my house too. May I know who is your carpeter please? =)
  6. Hi all, I read the forum on lights and ceiling fans and went down to these stores today based on positive reviews/ feedback. For lights: DK lightings - 642 Geylang Road, S(389574), tel: 6741 1335 Chelsea Lights and Pantec (these 2 are just beside each other) - 353 Jurong East Street 31, S(600353), #01-117 & #01-115 For ceiling fan: Kong Tai - 504 Jurong West St 51, #01-221 S(640504), tel: 6565 8924 I went to DK lightings first, found a few pieces we like, took down the prices and left. Owners were very friendly, helpful and not pushy at all. Quotation for KDK baby fan - $175. Pssst - the wife quotes lower price! LOL. Then we went Chelsea and Pantec. We found these 2 stores more pricy for the same lights. Quotes for KDK baby ceiling fan was $180 to $185. Amasco 48" ceiling fan was $198, additional $98 for adding light! Went to Kong Tai - KDK baby fan only $160. Same Amasco fan was $160, additional $30 only for adding light! Bought 48" on the spot and carried home. Went back to DK lights and bought all our lights there - spent $772. Most expensive was $300 dining table light we both fell in love with and could picture it hanging in dining room so we decided to get it...haha. For 2 common bedrooms, kitchen, toilet we chose simple and functional "hamburger lights" costing only $45 each (medium size) and $35 (small size). Also got 3 light strips ($14 each) for our 3m wardrobe to have lights when we choose our clothes =). Actually on the short walk to DK lightings along Geylang road, we popped into a few lights shops, all quoted much more than DK. So in the end, we decided DK was the best. Gald I read renotalk. Gald I went DK lightings and Kong Tai!!! Cheers! GetFuzzy

  11. Hi Veronehoo, What a coincidence, we shortlisted JGH too! We just met with Peter and felt he was very experienced, just drawing on the floor plan to scale and advising us based on it made a difference compared to other contracters we met! =) Our new house is 4NG and our renovation is similar to yours => kitchen, 2 bathrooms and a bit of carpetary in bedroom and living room. We did not ask for false ceilings in living room as we fear it will be expensive. May I check with you your quotation? Will be you so kind to share with us by posting it here or pm? Do post pics or start a blog! It's so exciting to have a new home! Good luck for your renovation and all the best! =D
  12. Hi all, Do you have bad experiences? Any stores you think should be blacklisted/ avoided? Share on this forum to warm others!
  13. hmm....when I was looking at Sealy at Tampines Courts, the sales said Sealy's warrenty covers everything (spring, the pillow top, everything) for 10 years....
  14. I was at Nova Tradehub 21 today. The things are overpriced (even with a sale!). Go behind, there's another row of stores. One of them call Home Furniture sells the exact same pieces at much much lower prices! E.g. dining set I rem Nova was $1300 to $1400 but it was only selling $700 (around there). I also saw another dining set selling at a couple of thousand at IMM, it was going for $885 at Home Furniture. I was looking for a bedframe with storage & high headboard. Walked around and most were at least $1.4K. Nova quoted us $1068 after GST and delivery charges waived but Home Furniture quoted us $980 with no GST and no delivery charges. After some bargaining, it was $930. Good deal I would say for a king size. 3 years warranty. Hope this helps someone =) ps: skip nova =p
  15. Hi all! I am renovating my resale flat kitchen and am having a hard time deciding what material to use for kitchen countertop. Granite, compressed quartz, solid surface, laminates, so many choices! What do you use and do you think it is good??? My contractor recommended granite and said solid surfaces are no good (scratch/ stain easily) but I thought I should hear some real life advice from you guys here who actually use a kitchen. I read in magazines that granite needs regular resealing? How often is regular and is it costly? Grateful for any advice. =D Get Fuzzzzzy
