Me too!! Add things, remove things... remove things is for sacrificing, making buffer in order got budget to add things! haha... my renovation started this morning!! ID called me to update me... he was at my house with his workers, briefing them what to expect coming up. his tiler spotted the balcony cement screed floor is kind of hollow and so he quickly suggest me to declare as defects, and instruct h*b to hack it away, ID will cement it back for me. this way can be very sure the foundation is not hollow, the tiles will not pop. today received 2nd version of contract ffom ID, incl all the additional works/deletion of works/electrical works etc, am glad everything is put into black and white, no conflict. still managed to keep reno cost below $30K . phew!!

congrats, ur renovation finally started. mine will be starting tomorrow! our reno start date is only 3 days difference. but hor, h*b still owe me some defects rectification job...&*%^#$@

wall to wall mirror, cresto vanity top, full suspended bottom cabinet and tempered glass shower screen is around +/-$1.5k, tiles $200 and basin with tap.... all in all less than $2k bah.... tiling tat part is not done by ID though. well, u can get nearer to ur dream with affordable $$ if u are resourceful and search for cheaper lobangs. no choice, we no $$ so got to go ard and find lobangs in order to save some $. kekez..

jessi, sorry to hijack ur blog. need some opinions on some of my reno stuffs, nowhere to post, sooo... ;p sorrie ah... koikoi, thanks. but that toilet tiles didnt cost us a bomb. orh-orh floor tiles with those mosaics are $200 which we think its still affordable and quite worth. with the existing brownish h*b vanity and WC, matching col for cabinets r orange, white or brown....

hi neighbours, remember i mentioned h*b going to handover flat back to me on tues? neh !! ah soon din even turn up, forgotten my appt with him. found another defects after he resolve this defect... my toilets doors got to redo... sure will mess up my wall abit... argh... when is this going to end? ok done with the bad news now is the good news, my renovation is going to kickstart tomorrow!!

I got think of only doing those designed carpentry only in future... but i doubt it will happened hence decided to do it once and for all lor. a bit stress on our wallets now... oh ya, we will be neighbours for at least 10yrs down the road!!

I'm not worrying about the workmanship. I'm concerning about the final product designs. We are doing quite a fair bit of designed carpentry, thats why thats so much brainstorming to be done.

maybe is we chap too much. heard too much renovation horror stories, so wanna do as much as we can to avoid that to happen to us... all the intensive discussions really drain us physically and mentally. ya u are right, my reno will finish a few weeks after jessi but wont be moving in immediately after completion off reno.

koikoi, my intensive discussions means going to discuss with ID intensively again. latte, i have shortlisted some tiles/laminates/color of paints. tomorrow will have to put all the jigsaw puzzles together and finalize the arrangement. ID will submit orders on Thurs, and renovation will start on this Fri! And yes, ID has kiasu-ly submit permit request on early last week and we gotten the temporary permit. If h*b approval is slow, the most we don't do hacking first.... Funny thing is we realised some neighbours did not put up the Permit outside their flats while renovating.... Our ID said this kind of thing dont play play, those ID muz be having 'tiger heart' of not to display the Permit. Last wkend ID already stick the temp permit loh... feel things are safe with his hands. Also gotten electrical work quotes from him today, all have black and white. 2mr will be finalizing what we electrical works we will be doing...

hi jessi, koikoi u gals' rectification looks smooth and nice... so envy ppl who has no problem with h*b. they workmanship is so rough and lao-ya. heng attitude still not too bad otherwise i can go bangwall le. the major stuffs r ok lah, but the small small things, haiz... supposingly they said they can handover the unit back tonight. oh well, we'll see. Trying to be optimistic, hopefully things will be ok as things moving on... Meeting ID again tomorrow. Another round of intensive discussion.

My last quote with them (before CNY) is free 20ft kitchen cabinet, kitchen sink & tap, and kitchen hob & hood. Sounds good isnt it? But in the end my contract is not awarded to them.

my experience with them is not so good too. the sales designer do impressed me with his colorful designs on his laptop. but towards the end, he keep ask us to pay a fee to 'book' the package. well, its only 1hr of salestalk, no proposal, no quotations mentioned, and how can i possibly gave them >$25K of sales??!

no, ah soon told me they dont hack the toilet tiles, they just do overlay. they only hack and redo for kitchen wall tiles. ur h*b contractor is oso ah soon? rectification of defects havent completed?

Koikoi, just buy the tiles from h*b. See, our MBR toilet is bigger right? Use that as gauge. Our kerb should not be longer than 6ft, hence u just need 6ft worth of tiles. Yet, $1 per pc might be over price... Normally such common H*B tiles, ur ID should noe where to buy, so even if u din buy fr him, its fine, ur ID should be able to source it. Dont let H*B do kerb for u since they charge. Kerb can be done FOC by ID. ID will probably just charge u the price of tiles and raw materials. If u doing shower screen, ur ID will hav to tell u where to do the kerb so that his screen can fit in jus nice. Clear? Any doubts, u can PM me.
