Too Sick To Work, But... Not Too Sick To Party?
zirhk3355 replied to MaCe's topic in Men Women Kopitiam Corner!
Isn't it so obvious that she is trying her luck for maternity leave?? In the previous article she even wanted to complain to MOM about it. If I am the MOM officer attending to her, I will photocopy this news article in A1 size poster and paste it behind me in the office. -
Sorry what do you mean "she say we got our hse shd move out"? Who is 'we', you and your hubby, or your PIL? Anyway, since the problem is this way, I think you should just live with it. In life not everything happens the way we want it to be. You want to live alone with your hubby, but if situation does not allow, then we just got to deal with it lor. Its a joy to have old folks at home if you know how to manage them. I suggest you spend more energy to foster better relations with them, instead of trying to find ways and means to 'help' them move out...

Actually she took no-pay leave, because she is on probation and not entitled to mc/leave. However, if you read the first article where she complained to TNP, during her interview she did not reveal to the employer that she was pregnant. After getting the job, she took about 10+ days off within a period of two months. She also did not call the superior to report sick, but told her colleague to report for her. When HR want to speak to her and see what's her problem, she refused to come. In the end, they got no choice but to sack her via SMS. Sorry to say this about a pregnant woman, but I think she is just trying her luck to get three-month paid maternity leave when she gives birth. Too bad that she cannot even get thru probation. But the worst thing is: This irresponsible woman is going to become someone's mother. -
Hmmz, how about your PIL go stay with grandma instead? If grandma's flat is not big enough, they can sell it and buy another flat together. This way no need to take out the name and pay money liao lor.

This so-called friend must be a friend of Madam Lee's colleague, whom kana called back for duty when Madam Lee took MC; maybe she also bought tickets to go Zoukout then end up cannot go. So buay song and ask her friend to call TNP complain. Classic case of backfire; wana complain then kana shot back. How is she going to find a job after her pregnancy?? Every single employer now knows that she is someone who take MC to go Zoukout. But also good lah, can be tai-tai liao lor... Meanwhile... I am quite amused by another small detail of the article: Why does TNP insist on calling her "Madam"? Is it when a woman get married and pregnant, she becomes a "Madam"?? I agreed that technically 'madam' is for any woman, young or old, but in our society 'madam' usually refers to someone older mah, like a lady in her 50's and older. Shouldn't a local newspaper reflect our society norms as well? Tonight I am going back to call my wife "Madam" liao... -

Very impt to consider the min pax also; the caterer always very smart to price it low but give a high min pax, so as to look cheaper. Eg at $15/pax with min 15 pax, the total is $225. But at $10/pax with min 30 pax, the total is $300. IMO the latter is more ex; those who are 'experienced' in ordering catered food will know that nobody orders the exact number of people, just ah-ga ah-ga. So I always look at the final figure to see which one is cheaper... -
Not sure if you had realised this, but if they are so resistant to having a 'stranger' in the house, why are they hesitating to discuss their options to move out on their own?

Woah~ Power! Hmmz, for your 猪骨莲藕花生汤, maybe we should reschedule our lou hei to a time more convenient for you... Kidding, kidding... -
You have to pledge your house under MSS if your account is insufficient. You do not have a choice, unless you got enough money in your CPF. Its goes like this: Eg OA - $40k, SA - $20K, total only $60K, but MSS requirement is $94K (think its higher now...?). So, first thing first, the govt locked in that $60K, then if you have a flat/house, it will be force-pledged for the remaining value of ($94K - $60K) $34K. This means that you don't sell the flat you got no problem; but the moment you sell, you got to return the CPF + accrued interest owed back to your OA, right? Ah ha! At this point the govt will swing in and 'kop' $34K from it and locked in as well. What if you do not have $34K? Then they will just take whatever is available and leave you with nothing. Only after they had satisfactorily taken all the money they want from you, then they will let you use whatever pathetic amount is left for your lump sum withdrawal or to buy another flat. For studio apt, no loan at all. Either cash or whatever useable CPF you have left. Like mentioned, RA is not considered 'useable' CPF.

Ok, read up the website and educate myself about our wonderful CPF system liao. Actually I had always known this as the 'minimum sum scheme' instead of RA. Q: What is the Retirement Account? A: The Retirement Account is for your old age. When you reach 55, you will need to set aside your Minimum Sum, using the savings in your Special and Ordinary Accounts, in the Retirement Account. You can then withdraw the rest of the savings in your Ordinary and Special Accounts in one lump sum. The answer, apparently, is no. http://mycpf.cpf.gov.sg/CPF/my-Cpf/reach-55/Reach55-3.htm Our great govt is telling you, the minimum sum is for your life annuity plan, ie receiving monthly payouts from 62 yrs old onwards. It cannot be use for anything else. But what about a roof over my head?? Oops, we haven't thought about that yet...erm, for now, you 'ji kei bou zhong' first lah!

Property Market Boom Bubble?
zirhk3355 replied to icer's topic in Landed & Condo Private Properties Renovation Discussion
Is it a co-incidence, or are you always linked with 'opera'...? -
Oh its just dawned on me; is it the SRS account we are talking about here? But I dun understand about the merging part; you mean now there is no more ordinary account or special account, but both merged together as one? So what is it called? I just check yesterday I still got two accounts leh...?

Property Market Boom Bubble?
zirhk3355 replied to icer's topic in Landed & Condo Private Properties Renovation Discussion
Landed properties are very difficult to gauge its price, because every unit is different. But if the past transactions are anything to go buy, a normal terrace at 3000+sqft (land) is between $400 to $600psf. -
I believe in your case, your parents have to use cash then. BTW what is RA funds? You mean the SA, or CPF's special account? Erm, sorry to ask this, but are your parents keen stay on their own in the first place? That is a sensitive issue to tackle, even if u can find a solution but the problem is they want to stay with you, its still no solution at all.

On paper, I am afraid that its quite difficult for those age near-to/above 65. However, you might want to try to write-in for special appeal or try bank loans instead...
