  1. About networking while doing a MBA, well its right and wrong. I believe they are talking about executive MBA where one of the entry criteria is like a significant no of years of relevant working experience (eg 10 yrs in business management position). The normal MBAs will have alot of students with had very basic working experience (like me that time!! Hehe). Now even if you can really meet some you-tou-you-lian kind of people, I suspect it won't be too useful to you because you are going to switch career, right? To you, they are too far ahead already, and to them you are as good as a fresh graduate because whatever they say you might not understand. Coursework-wise, well yes some of the marketing/management subjects you can just smoke thru if you understand it. However how confident are you to graduate with flying colours? Remember in Singapore, grades are quite impt to employers, esp big firms, MNCs. As for duration, there are various business degree courses out there that can be completed within two years, even on part-time basis. Like above suggested, go for a honours program and you won't be wrong. Lastly, don't mind me asking, are you more keen in an MBA compared to degree because of the stigma that its a 'higher' qualification, or that it sounds funny to be doing another degree when you are already a degree-holder now? Well at the end of the day there is no right or wrong, its really up to you. But what I am trying to put to you is myself, a MBA holder but sometimes still losing out to those with business hons degrees. You might have a different luck with employers, some good friends who are willing to support you when you switch careers, so consider all factors and make your best choice. Good luck!
  2. I am concerned about the validity of that MBA that you got accepted for. Take me for eg, I was an engrg diploma holder, then move on to study business. Struggling like mad! Unlike engrg, where everything is very straightforward (ie correct means correct, wrong means wrong), many business modules got no right/wrong answer; its how you answer the question. This was very alien to me, but managed to pull thru and graduated. Then when I was taking my MBA, so many things are related to my basic degree, of which I wouldn't have understood had not taken the basic degree. There's no basic foundation already, because you are supposed to have that. So its a wonder how you would be able to pull thru at this stage, and why you can be accepted in the first place. Lastly, about relevance/usefulness of a MBA, well just look at the job ads' requirements: Its always degree/MBA. Very seldom you see requirements stating ONLY MBA. When I checked with the guys who are sitting besides me waiting for interview, more than half the time they are just degree-holders. In short: My suggestion is that you take up a basic business degree, eg SIM's UOL course that has honours program as well. Study hard, work your foundation and get a 2nd upp or even 1st class. That will beat any MBAs anytime, especially the one you are applying for. Everyone can go take MBA, pay money only what. But not everyone can get hons in their basic degree, and that's what employers are looking for. In today's context, especially when we are talking about entry-level, MBA is no longer a higher qualification; its more of an enrichment program for experienced businessmen and senior management to move up the ladder. Hope this helps; good luck!!
  3. That one is CONFIRMED get cheated one - please dun do it. Do the proper way, eg part-time jobs that few people want to do, or insurance/property agents, tuition, etc. If you got extra room in your flat/house can rent out also good. Sell away some items that you do not want to use, etc. So many ways! But please, please dun go down the slippery road of MLMs, network-marketing, land-banking, online businesses, whatever sh*t. Waste time, waste efforts, waste money. Not forgetting pissing people off and losing all your relatives/friends. At your stage you need all the emotional support you can get; the last thing you want is to be one man standing and everyone avoiding you. Otherwise very soon you will create another thread complaining again... Good luck!!
  4. That means straightaway buy another property or use for investment lor! Whatever accrued interest you return is still yours to use in other places. But do that before you are 55, so that won't kana the minimum sum scheme. Always keep your CPF at less than $20K; enough to tide over any harsh period of lose income, yet without letting them make use of our money to earn interests and investment.
  5. Yeah you are right - accrued interest seem to be yet another mystery figure from our govt sector. But why fret over it? All you have to do is to make sure everytime you return your cpf money, you take it out immediately thereafter. Anyway, just for knowledge sake; its not easy to calculate such interests because its based on a monthly rest. You must use an Amortization Table to compute; can find the calculator everywhere on the net. However, the trick is to know exactly what interest rate to calculate; as jule said, they had changed it to make our lives more difficult. There is like 1% increase in interest for the first $60k or something, then different rates for amounts thereafter. No more flat rate. So unless you are some kind of math whiz, its quite impossible to put your finger to the correct formula.
  6. I think she meant to ask what's the meaning of 'facing'; does it mean the headboard at NW then bed-end at SE, or the other way around?? Sometimes I also confused with this...hehe...
  7. Let me get this straight: You lend your MEDICAL money to your friend and charge him interest to get some profits for your renovation?? Ok, what done is done lah, I am not here to mock you. But personal loans are the last thing you can ever recover. Everytime one fork out money to lend relatives/friends/colleagues/etc, it must always be a sum that we are prepared to lose. Like you also know, report police will make matter worse; sorry to say you have no legal recourse here, can only keep pestering your friend to return. I suggest you now quickly find other ways to get your money for medical if its really urgent instead of trying to recover this forsaken money...
  8. I am not sure if the building centre handles this, but I am sure this comes under town council. Try making a complaint to both of them and see what happens...
  9. Sometimes the tricky question to ask when the ID says this and that cannot be done, is, "If I pay you each time you redo something, can it be done?" If the answer is yes, then tell him, "Well, sorry I am not going to pay that way, but you had just answered that it can be done. So just do it."
  10. Most of us should have three 'heater' switches; the two RIGHT OUTSIDE the respective toilets are for the instant heaters (installed inside the toilet and connected directly to your shower-head/rainshower) and one in the kitchen. You should find a grey box inside the toilets; this is where you hook up the instant heaters. The one in the kitchen is for the centralised ELECTRICAL heater. If you are using the centralised GAS heater, ALL these switches become useless; gas heaters work on water pressure, ie they turn on when they detected that had turned on the taps/showers, or upon low water pressure.
  11. What good is a $8mil house when you cannot sleep well at night?? !!
  12. Possible got such lobangs and not snapped up by all the cash-rich investors, Indon Chinese and others? Still got enough to let us earn?? But sometimes really pei fu all these MLMs, network-marketing, whatever conmen schemes, everytime got new scams to hoodwink us of our hardearned money. Singapore already very hard to survive liao, still got all these jokers looming around to cheat our money...
  13. How big is the area to be covered with mirror, ie the HS door + adjacent walls? My flat got this mirror wall, 2 x tinted black mirror + 1 x clear mirror, floor to ceiling, wide about 2m, damage is $800+. According to the contractor, tinted mirrors are about 150% times more ex than clear ones. So if your total area is about my size or less, maybe possible $500+ or $600+... !!
  14. If no ID then you got your ideas of how the design will look like? For me I got ID but did not want to spend money on feature wall (which is the most expensive feature of all!!), so I just made a nice curtain to cover the bomb shelter.
  15. Yeah all contractors ARE phua chu kang mah...as long as you know how to control them, you are ok. Hint: Cash is KING!
  16. Do they really give us REAL vouchers and gifts?? As in nonsense like $200 voucher but minimum spending of $1000?? $200 voucher that are 'good-as-cash' and useable in the stores, then that's real... If so then I think its fair to exchange some tangible rewards for my time to sell me something. I had also done a few marketing surveys and focus groups, where they analyse our behaviour and responses to various ads, packagings and products/services. Such surveys are no-nonsense one; straight cash in an envelope for you at the end of the session.
  17. Wah, that's our 'cheng hu' for you! Ministers got million-dollar salaries, you got, ahem, how much salary?? On this nice little island still got alot of things that "they can, but we cannot" one...HDB is only one of them...
  18. You are right - actually my place also not using besglass or aust-screen; find them too expensive. Now still very happy with the 'normal' mechanism from your friendly 'no-brand' glass co...hehe... Some people use colourless to describe white mah - if really cannot see then its transparent, not colourless! For me I also rather to have the logo as a safeguard. Think about this, *touchwood*: If the glass breaks, injured someone and you found that its not tempered, you would want to claim compensation from the glassmaker, isn't it? So they come and inspect, no logo, quickly push and say, "That time you did not order tempered glass".
  19. Yes, but it would be quite strange if you had the stickers already when you take over possession of the flat. You see, HDB engaged a contractor to lay the cables in your flat, however, they may not do a good job so starhub got to check it. They do not 'pre-check' before you take over the flat because some flats may be left unsold, or some owners do not want starhub, so its a waste of their time and resources. They will only come down to check the signal and we want to view thru' their cables. Every single point should have a sticker with the starhub logo one...
  20. Since the contract says you can exchange the $1k for other items, I don't think you can file any claims against them. You should continue to pursue a response from them and get your $1k worth of stuff. Rightfully should try CASE to add pressure on them to give you the stuff lor, but till-date seemed like a toothless tiger. Alternatively, if you got a lawyer friend can ask him/her to write a simple warning letter to demand that they honour the agreement.
  21. They are supposed to come down to check if the signal is strong enough. Just see if your cable points got the starhub stickers, if so then its already checked. Every point sure got one sticker de... You both jialat; tomorrow go submit your unit no to the building centre... Unless buy me lunch at Koufu...haha...
  22. The last time my electrician hacked a few grooves in the walls, it costs me a few thousands dollars. Better make sure the kaypohs are not looking before you do it hor...
  23. Unless conceal using plasterboard, otherwise would be illegal to hack the walls to conceal...
  24. Huh? No no, I meant insecure on OUR side, ie if the contractors 'run road' we die lor... The contractors are just taking adv of the assumption that pte ppty people are very rich and can 'chop', so quotation also high high, payment terms also not very fair...
  25. Erm, do you realised all the other "无" are by choice, but "无知" is by nature? So ahem, in a way I don't really feel blessed to be labelled "无知", because by choice can change, but by nature, how to change?
