Thank you Kopimonster! I am loving it too, so far even with my potted plants and rainwater and soil dropping on it, it's still in good condition and no colour changes so far. Easy to clean, just wipe! Happy with the choice that I made.

My kitchen countertop is a white coloured solid surface type and some parts have yellow stains. Even the sink part has some brown stains as the sink is also made of the same material (one whole piece with the L shape countertop). Also some minor scratches here and there. I'm hoping I can get it repolished/sanded so that I don't have to replace the whole thing. Does anyone know if any companies or contractors can do this? Must be specialist (e.g. kitchen counter supplier) or can any contractor do it with a sanding machine? Thanks for any advice.

I have a very big sized solid wood framed mirror (Balinese style...?) placed near my dining area and over the years the mirror has become blurry and tarnished. Is it possible to replace/repair the mirror but keep the original wooden frame? Not sure if it makes sense to just throw and buy a wall-cladded mirror. Any advice appreciated!

You're welcome! Elba seems really not bad, I don't think it makes much diff and the exterior looks quite okay also!

OIC, but just I thought that all LED downlight is more of a spotlight effect (similar to halogen) than a PLC downlight look so if you have very bright but fewer points it will just mean the part directly under the light is v bright and the rest is not much diff? Anyway, I'm staying in condo and the false ceiling is 2.8m or so, and the 3W is just nice.

Damage Bathroom Floor Tiles.,, Help!
Bunnymummy replied to sunnytan31's topic in Home Maintenance & Repairs
Congrats! That's a good tip. Next time, don't use bleach product on any tiles unless it's been diluted by at least 50%! I made the same mistake too. Another safer option to remove stains is non-chlorine bleach which is based on oxygen. I sometimes use my Vanish Power O2 (for laundry stain) on the floor stain and it works too! -
Where To Buy Reasonable Iron Rack For My Store Room?
Bunnymummy replied to lprenotalk's topic in DIY Corner
I bought my storeroom racks from Thian Lee Hardware. You can google them if you like, they got website with all the designs and sizes. I think the prices are reasonable and the quality is very good. Since I stack a lot of heavy items I prefer to buy sturdier racks (rather than the cheapo ones from Giant or Ikea). They usually give discount and can deliver and fix up your rack within a few days. So far I have racks that have lasted for 6-7 years already. -
New Refrigerator Delivered With Hairline Scratch

Just call and ask for a replacement. Nothing ventured nothing gained. Anyway, for the price you paid you should expect your item to be in good condition. -
I bought my dishwasher for quite good price. Around $500+. It's a small compact model, 6 settings only. Brand is Elba, which seems good so far and is hundreds of dollars cheaper than Braun. I placed it on top of my front loading washing machine. I find it very useful for entertaining where you can wash lots of dishes and bowls and cutlery at one go. It seems to be working well so far, most of the time because the dishes are not very soiled (just oily, greasy) I use the "express" setting which is 30 mins only and everything comes out quite clean since it uses hot water to wash. I also don't usually bother using the drying function (to save electricity) and just leave the door of the dishwasher open to let the dishes air dry afterwards. Of course you spend some time loading and unloading it and also have to rinse off any particles before you put it in (or just wipe with kitchen towel also can!) but I think it's better than standing over the sink washing the dishes myself. Helps a lot esp since I am expecting now... can't bend over the sink too long cos back pain! Edit: Forgot to add, if you are the type who washes dishes at the sink using running water from the tap instead of filling the sink/basin with water... I read that research showed that dishwasher consumes less water than manual washing with running water. Of course there is electricity too... but just something you can consider if you are the kind like me who used to wash dishes with running water.

Actually I find the 3W LED downlights more than enough for lighting my house... I place them at multiple points (e.g. 5 lights along the long corridor... 4 lights in the bathroom... etc) and it looks good and gives enough lighting for my needs. Plus, they are cheap at about $34 per light. I'm not sure why there are so many people buying the LED downlights with such high voltage? I actually find them to be far too glaring and defeats the purpose of saving electricity leh....

It might not be very safe to paste paper over it because the bulb does get hot when turned on and you might accidentally burn the paper or start a fire. Best to just buy some new bulbs and keep the cool white one as "spare"?

That seems pretty expensive. For e.g. simple installation of point should be no more than $10 max (some electricians charge only $7-8) whereas yours is $12 per point. Suggest you get a few more quotes from other electricians. Edit: BTW, the electrician that installed my lights last month charged me $7 per simple installation and $35 for fan installation. Not sure about if they do the rest of your items (mine was just lights/fans) but I'm thinking can't be more than your quote. You can try asking for quote if you like, can call Chong at 94237985.

I prefer Lock & Lock! Durable and completely airtight! Available in all supermarkets.

I found it! http://www.ikea.com/sg/en/catalog/products/90176245

Yes they have it in IKEA. Not sure the price, but you can check the IKEA website. The thick clear plastic flooring also available in hardware shops like Homefix, Selffix etc but those I think you have to cut to fit the size you want.

Try Sim Siang Choon, I bought something similar from there (not sure your measurements though). It's located near Changi Expo.

Hi all, I am looking to buy an inexpensive but very loud door motion sensor that I can place across the backyard corridor. It needs to make a very loud chime (e.g. DING DONG) like the ones at 7-11 doorways. Reason is because I feel that there is a security risk because the common backdoor corridor leads to a aircon ledge that someone might be able to climb into my backyard via the window (no glass or grilles provided by condo developer). If I have a motion sensor then at least I would be able to hear it if anyone is approaching the area. Other good ideas welcome... p.s. I can't install grills there cos I have to hang my laundry using a ceiling mounted sliding laundry rack.

Hi, I don't know about ants or insects underneath (I just installed it recently and haven't moved in yet). I was told that the plastic won't attract termites like real wood will though. I think if you mean whether any insects will make nest inside the planter box, I think will be the same chance whatever kind of decking is used.. haha.

I bought my fabric L shape sofa from a shop called SY Living at Furniture Mall Beach Road. It was fully customisable with lots of fabrics to choose from. I'm very happy with the quality and price I got (must bargain!). Delivery was right on time as promised (about 3 weeks) and no problems at all. I did not buy the fabric sofas from OM because I did not like the "hardness" of the cushioning on the sofa (too hard, not nice to sit in my opinion). Also, they told me can only receive it in 6 weeks or more.. I don't have the time to wait for it. It's important to shop around before picking a sofa, I found that I was quoted so many different range of prices for the similar designs.

Has anyone ever sponge painted a wall before? I am thinking of doing it for my baby's room but unfortunately am expecting now and not allowed to go near wet paint... This is a video on how its done. I wonder if I can hire someone to do it for me? http://www.ehow.com/video_4997662_sponge-paint-walls.html

Maybe its to prevent the staining that my pots had experienced. No one told me I'm supposed to boil vinegar water in it before use.
