  1. no problem! I guess for shower gel holder the stronger the fix the better. You can consider using the suction type for the other accessories PM your number Pm me your number too Yup you got the last visitor's lot PM me your number!
  2. Nice and detailed writeup Ocean. So who did you use to send the goods over to Singapore? Have you received them yet?
  3. really sad to see FrancFranc close shop. quite like their stuff. Better go down and grab some bargains soon. Hoping to get your keys soon, really curious to see how you do up your place
  4. hmmm not sure what your contractor means by not 100% smooth, cos our's is pretty smooth after all the grouting has been applied! Our toilet doors are PD doors, so it can open fully. Not a problem But you're right, if it were sliding it would be very difficult to go in and out. I'll inform you, Songz and OceanEleven about the house visit! akan datang! PM me your number? Sorry to hear about your aircon trunking! It's definitely one of those things that you don't really consider under you actually have to do it. It really was a headache for us too. I had to get them to stop work halfway so that we could re-plan the route. It looks like yours has already been fixed up though, so boxing it up will be the way to go. A lil bit more money to spend I agree, but it's better than living with an eyesore. For the MBR trunking, not advisable to tile over it, but for the drainage pipe, definitely better to reroute it to a drainage hole in the ground.
  5. Hi hojichalatte & Dwinsplace, This post dedicated to you guys, haha. First off, do note that it's not cos we hid our air con trunking particularly well, it's just that I didn't show it in my pictures BUT, the visibility of trunking can still be minimized with considerable planning together with your contractor and air-con man. For the study room aircon and living room aircon, we ran the trunking into the 2nd bedroom as pictured below. The trunking from the 2nd bedroom is then run across the corridor (on a ceiling beam) onto the side where the toilets and MBR sit. We concealed the trunking by boxing it up to make it look like it's part of the beam. Along the corridor, we also boxed it up. Whereas previously the wall was flat, now you see a protrusion at the top of the wall. This we feel is a lesser evil than just seeing the trunking. The drainage pipe also runs through this box up. After the draining pipe and trunking runs down the corridor, it is diverted into the MBR toilet (a hole is cut in the wall) And it then runs along the MBR toilet and then out onto the aircon ledge through a hole in the MBR toilet window. Do note that at some point along this line, the trunking and drainage from the MBR aircon comes in through the wall and joins the rest of the trunking. We only have 1 drainage pipe for the condensed water to run out, as pictured below. This is in the MBR toilet. As much as we had liked to hide all the trunking, there's a limit to how much we can hide! As long as it's not plainly obvious to visitors when they walk in, it's good enough IMO. It's always best to consult your aircon contractor for the best way to run the trunking. BUT, do note that sometimes they give some suggestions which make it easy for them, but makes the trunking v obvious for you. You have to push them and let them know the arrangement that you want. Good luck!
  6. Hi guys, sorry for the late response. Spent the better half of yesterday trying to solve some of the plumbing/drainage issues. You see, the water from our washing machine decided to come up our kitchen sink as well as out from underneath kitchen cabinets. What a disaster. Jimmy better find a way to fix this problem. Bro how big you want? Haha. 40 inch already big for our MBR tv console, any bigger and the weight can't be supported. But ya you're right, under normal circumstances the bigger the better! pm-ed! The box up seems to take up a lot of space. How big is your driver and btw how does the heat dissipate from the driver? Thanks! Thanks for the nice comment enigma! Yes, space was definitely a big factor when we decided upon the unit. It looks bigger than it actually is because of the camera bah. thanks for the support ya! glad to hear from you. Actually it doesn't really matter when the OpenNet guys come IMO, cos the cabling that they run is quite independent of the other electricals. This is unless of course you lay the cables in the false ceiling like we did, then the opennet guys will have to come in before the false ceiling is patched up. to be safe, get them to come towards the end when your most of the major electrical stuff has already been done. That way OpenNet won't get in the way of your electrician's work. But, do confirm way in advance where you intend the Opennet point to be and let your electrician know. Also, in order to figure out where you want to put the OpenNet Optical Network Terminal (ONT) you may want to consider where you want to place your router, switch etc. I'll be posting about the aircon trunking in a bit. Stay tuned! Thank you very much kim76! Oh my wife also did a lot of planning - was a joint effort. Looks like it's all me cos I'm the only one posting. I asked her to make a guest appearance and post on the blog but she shy I will PM when I'm a bit freer regarding a rough breakdown. I'm afraid I can't give a detailed breakdown though! When are you getting your keys? Sengkang also? hI MHB, sure. It's a Korean brand called deHUB - you can find the link on taobao below: http://dehub.tmall.com/?spm=a220o.1000855.w5001-2633380222.2.KjXDjr&&&&&&scene=taobao_shop It is definitely strong! Sometimes so strong that I have problems trying to take it out Separately, thanks for the kind comment. Btw do you have pictures of yours? I also very curious to see the same concept applied elsewhere. Cheers~ Hi fal681. Our feature wall is built on an existing wall, so it was made purely by carpentry, cost us about 2.1 k thereabouts. Hi boonfin, you can find our cement screed tile from Soon Bee Huat at No. 3A Toh Guan Road East
  7. Sure it will be my pleasure. Will go back and take some pictures tonight to illustrate At one point in time, the planning of the aircon trunking gave us a big headache. It's definitely a serious aspect to consider especially with regard to aesthetics.
  8. hey you're right, it does look like our mirror! Colour about the same too. Good buy for the price I've meaning to test it out too, but having trouble since all the instructions and voices are in Korean Will get hold of an English manual and finally put it to work. Definitely haven't forgotten about this!
  9. Nope, it's custom made by the carpenter! You mean they have something like that at IKEA? I didn't see when I went down the other day leh.
  10. most welcome. Yes definitely get your contractor/electrician to leave a lighting point! That's the most important actually haha.
  11. Master Bedroom Pics This is by far our favourite part of the house. It's where we will spend 1/3 of our lives anyway, though most of it unconscious. haha Our Samsung TV has been set up and you can see our walk in wardrobe beyond that (now with clothes). When it's time for bed, we usually close off the WIW so that there will not be cool air leaking out of our sleeping area, thereby saving some electricity. View from another angle View of our king bed under different lighting - we love sleeping on our bed!
  12. Updated Toilet Pics It was very hard to see the black floors in previous pics. Now that the space has been cleaned up, here is a better look at our toilets! Still lamenting the smallness of the toilets, but we really don't have a choice. Blame it on HDB's design back in the day. Modern HDB flat toilets are so much bigger and sensible! Vanity legs for the guest bathroom - the Singer sewing machine legs can be taken out from under the vanity top for easy cleaning of the area.
  13. Thanks for the tip! hey greg, no not yet. I've never used them before so gotta figure out how to hook em up first haha. I should think they are the same cos they're from 3M after all. oh thanks for this information claypot, do you happen to have a pic of your setup? thanks buddy!
  14. Some random pics from around the house: This is how the edison bulbs look when the dining pendant lights are switched on. The light produced is alot more orange than the rest of the lights in the house, but I guess that makes for a very cosy dinner atmosphere when guests come over. Decided to paint over the existing gate and main door from white to yellow and brown to charcoal respectively. Now our house is easily identifiable to visitors - we just have to tell them "it's the one with the yellow gate". It's unmistakable! Not very clear, but here is the latest arrangement in our living room display cum bar counter. Nespresso machine up! Our MBR has also finally been painted white - looks awesome with the gold handles and hinges if you ask me. View of the dual faucet tap for our kitchen sink, showing in particular the pull out faucet
  15. Morning guys, I'm starting off the day by posting pics of some taobao stuff delivered by Peeka yesterday. 3M Command Hanging Strips in S,M,L sizes - this is to hold our pop art etc without having to drill holes into the wall. Small artificial topiaries - 2 with our initials and 2 common round ones. For the letters they only had the letters L, O, V, E for obvious reasons. Luckily our initials consist of 2 of those letters! Toilet Accessories - 1x towel hanger, 1 x clothes hanger, 1 x towel ring, 1 x shower rack and 1 x toilet roll holder. Won't be attaching all the pics. This is just to show the power of the suction holders. It's not the best looking toilet accessories in the world, but since we didn't want to drill too many holes into our walls, we traded looks for functionality and flexibility. This way, we can always change the accessories if they start to get rusty etc.
  16. Great to hear from you fsuz! And thanks for the support. Here is how the under cabinet LED strip lighting is installed: The LED strip light comes in a roll depending on the length that you buy. Ours came with a sticker backing which made installation very easy - just stick it in place. Our contractor got the LED strip light for us so I'm not to sure where to get it from! The LED strip is then connected to a driver which our electrician housed in on of the top cabinets. Hope this helps! hi hellonub, managed to take a few pics of our flooring yesterday which you can check out below. The colour is definitely uneven but it adds to the raw look and beauty of cement screed. If you like the look of cement screed, this is definitely a tile to consider!
  17. You're absolutely right about both the uniformity of the hangers as well as the additional sockets in the kitchen bro. Unfortunately, it was too late for us to add more sockets nearer to the sink by the time we realized it. Regret! Hopefully the other sockets are sufficient otherwise multi pin plug lor. Bo pian.
  18. Thanks for the comments guys! Will get back to you guys tomorrow with pics. Now still no Internet at home very hard to post pics from phone lah. Haha Btw is multiquote replying possible from a mobile phone?
  19. So as you guys know I have been busy travelling to HK and being stuck in reservist the past couple of weeks, leaving our ID to handle the renos (which should be the case) without my usual daily supervision. I am pleased to announce that the contractors have finished their work and we are finally at the end of our reno (save for some touch ups)! We have also officially moved in and have been sleeping at our new home since Saturday which is when my wife came back to Singapore. Although there has been a lot of cleaning already done (courtesy of the wife), we have had to clean it again every day because of the residual dust lying on the cabinets or in the air, paint and glue stains left behind etc. Actually, we shouldn't have to clean paint stains right?? Whatever the case, it's such a good feeling to move into a home you can truly call your own. I'll be posting pics of the completed reno in the next couple of posts so bear with me. Let's start with the kitchen shall we: Kitchen Pics So here is our completed kitchen with the quartz top and white glass backsplash finally in. Do ignore the unsightly plastic bag hanging at the window area. The appliances such as stove, oven, washer and dryer have also been installed so we're all set! Citygas is only coming to turn on the gas tomorrow though, so that will complete things. Note to self: take a close up picture of the Rinnai 3CG stove. Loving the reflection of the under cabinet LED strip lights bouncing off the glass backsplash. Adds to the brightness of the kitchen and we can really see what we're cooking. The Samsung fridge we bought is nice and big, not to mention white to fit the look of the kitchen. The shelf next to it will be used to place some crockery and perhaps dry foodstuff, can't wait to bring those over from my parent's place where they still sit. Overall, quite pleased with the look and space of the kitchen. A close up view of the light produced by the LED strip lights. Can't get enough of looking at the AJ replica wall lights - they create a softer mood and provide nice ambient lighting when you don't need to turn on all the kitchen lights. A closer view of our humongous fridge and Commune shelf. View of the 'yard' area of the kitchen which houses our washer, dryer and cleaning tools. Lastly, a close up view of our Sellena sink together with our tap/pull out spray faucet dual combo. The spray faucet comes in very handy when washing stubborn food remains off of plates etc.
  20. Received some taobao stuff from Peeka today which included our toilet accessories from deHub which do not require any drilling, our 300 velvet hangers, 3M command strips for our art and some other small stuff. Up to this point, quite pleased with Peeka's service though they are not the cheapest around. Will be unboxing and fixing up the stuff hopefully later this evening. Unfortunately our internet is still not up (OpenNet's optical wire has no signal!!) and so I may not be able to post pics till tomorrow. Stay tuned!
  21. thanks tessina, got a good deal for it too. haha wah you perpetually overseas hor you. busy man. 5K just for grilles! That's super ex haha, good luck hey songz, haha you're welcome to. Must also go and visit your place too hey shawn, just sent you a PM. Hey movie, nope 3D Innovations's office is located at Midview City now (new showroom). I checked and yes their website seems to be down! I'd better tell Jimmy haha thanks man! Inspiration is all around us =P. BTW, do check out scandinavian or industrial themed pics on Pinterest, that's where I drew a lot of our design inspiration from. Cheers. Sure thing, I'll take more detailed pictures of the tiles when I can and post it.
  22. progressing very well! Can't wait to see your kitchen pictures up
