  1. Whats this i hear abt chatting and making money at the same time.. never jio... selfish.. hee hee...
  2. Ang Moh men? Please don't compare. I remember I had an ang moh couple argue right in front of me and honestly, it wasn't pleasant.. the F***ing husband blamed me for something.. but after all the explanation.. he kenna left right center from the wife.. and then they started going at it in front of me..
  3. This is something that a friend i know would do... evil... but effective.. lol..
  4. In most times, many ppl are like the threadstarter. I belive that she doesn't need any advice to tell her what she should or should not do. Just to find a place to vent her fustrations. Hopefully to find an advice that is similar to what she is already doing; more to vindicate her choice of what she's doing or have done. Its always difficult to come to a decision esp with issues of such nature. Sometimes we need to burn the bridge so that we only have 1 option.. my 2 cents.
  5. 2708soul, after so many forummers have given their advice, i thought i'd just pop by to say my 2 cents worth. If mrs phantom was like you. I would prefer her to cancel the AD with me if she feels and knows that without a shadow of doubt that she'll be happier with the other guy (B) ... Secrets never seem to stay secrets forever.. I rather not go through 20years of marriage and realize that Mrs Phantom had loved someone else more and that it is a marriage of convenience rather than anything else. Your situtation is one nobody would want to be in. Too many IFs involved, having said that, what if you choose B and you are not B's most loved? Be fair to you, your future husband and B. We need to burn some bridges in life and its never an easy choice. Take care and all the best.
  6. Just treat it is : if you leave a will, government will distribute according to YOUR wishes. if you DON'T leave a will, your estate will be distributed according to the GOVERNMENT'S wishes (Intestate Act) Goverment does take the monies or confiscate the assets unless the deceased has left no will and has no next-of-kin (not even a nephew or cousin) Having a will will speed up the process of obtaining probate, etc. and its only abt 200 to 300 for a typical will.. anyway, there is a recommended bar price for wills being charged by lawyers..
  7. Yup. Tricky part is establishing how much in joint account is shared.. typically 50% but then joint accounts are always a gray area Gifting is as usual 5 years. As i saw, just go do a will and that solves everything. Will will superscede interstate law. Car is also tricky part.. have u heard of the wife that inherited a fully paid house but a mercedes that still had a 100k loan ?
  8. correct. just treat the intestate act as a will the goverment has made for you.
  9. Correct. That is due to the intestate act coming into play as now the person is married, thus changing his/her marital status. the nomination will not be vaild.
  10. could be sale.. discontinuation of tile if thats the case.. be careful.. stocks could be limited.. and if suddely after tiling 90% of the place.. and discover.. not enuff tiles.. or some tiles damaged... where to find the same tiles.. ....
  11. Thats quite true.. but it also depends.. there has been cases that they get the coroner to establish time of death and if that can be established, then who older also no use.. but that's not the worst.. its estate duties.. imagine husband has 1million... wife has 1 million... husband found to die first... money goes to wife... estate tax on 1million husband's money.. then tax 2million on wifes money.. crazy.. lol... just to add. insurance companies like Prudential and AIA are regulated under the Insurance Act. NTUC is under the Co-op Act.. so they are the only one that can have policy nomination in the policy. All other insurance company cannot.. you'll have to use either via stat trust or non-stat trust.. what you mention is putting policy under Section 73. that is irrevocable. Non-stat trusts can be changed anytime..
  12. Correct. As per intestate act. CPF + Cash + House + Everything else that falls under estate. Unless you write a will.

  19. actually its just the freebies.. for laptops, not much big discounts.. IT fair in singapore is every quarter... last one was 1-2mths ago.. so I think June would be another one.. Comex.. Sitex.. Computex... can't really the names these IT fairs go by nowadays... prices nowadays are quite cheap already... u can get a pretty decent one below 2k nowadays.
  20. Seems that there are alot of issues of unethical / unprofessional agents around.. I personally had a good experience because the agent is my buddy.. At first I didn't want to get involved and told him to go with my wife and my mum... But after looking around.. he feedback that he thinks I should go along.. so after hearing his "side of the story" i decided that to move things along... i told missus phantom and mum that I'll take over... hee hee... coz they were concerned abt the place being new and whereas I didn't care... to me as long as the layout is good, we're going to reno anyway.. so my agent/friend will keep me updated every week and arrange viewings abt 2 - 5 a day on a weekly basis.. we actually wanted to buy a 4room.. and he suggested me to buy a 5room because i don't need to top up much cash for 5-rooms in the market whereas almost every 4room needs cash topup.. before all this he also told me that he wanted me to do a financial plan with him to see what property price level would be comfortable to look at so he can focus on a price range... it was an overall very good experience.. because my friend normally only do private properties.. gave me a discount also.. hee hee... so I think i'm fortunate.. whoa.. that doesn't sound right.. i thought that its 1% only? unless your house was 600,000.00... anyone can confirm on the agent fees?
  21. Wah.. Odie.. your thread still going strong all this while.. lol
  22. I don't know leh.. my side seems that its more than 50% to spouse.. ha ha...
