Thks. Tts good! Seems tt u hv managed to get a very responsible contractor for the tiling works. At times, it's all depends on luck, though we had spent considerable time researching and talking to IDs/contractors. Some are good all the way while some may be good during discussion phase but start to slack when actual works begins. Tts y alot of time is require for us to go down and look at progress frm time to time. It'll be very disturbing if rectifications are needed to be done at the 11th hrs. -

Amazed with on speed of ur reno. Guess tt u are pretty much on schedule Nonetheless, do check the floor tiles to ensure tt they are properly lay and 'solid'. Knock on them to ensure there's no hollow sound underneath. Wat I earlier meant by floorplan is the modified layout plan based on how ur new hse is to be designed. I'm still trying to see how best i could squeeze out a storage area without 'compromising' my idea of widening the living room Will be fondling with the idea of extending out the MBR toilet too. -

Great to see another 3-roomer! Think most are doing open concept kitchen nowsaday. I'm thinking to extend the MBR too by hacking off the storeroom but am pondering how shld I keep my stuffs without a store. Any clever ideas to share? Will also be hacking off the wall adjoining the living room to widen the living room itself (3 room's living room too narrow). Care to share ur quotations and floorplan of the proposed design? -
Lol. Nice right? But if u would hv noticed, there's no cooker (of cos the owner could opt for portable one which could be put away).

Gimz, Kum sia. Always gd to hv more advices Cheers!

Well, those pipes which I circled will be actually smacked in the middle of the two combined toilets. True tt need to be caution and check 3D against actual layout, esp scale and dimensions. Also, certain designs proposals might seems doable in drawing but there might be ground restrictions, eg I recently read in one of the t-blog tt someone end up can't do certain boxup on top of the heater due to heat dispersion issues. It's gd to be wary of such constrains. Better to spend more time on the ground rather than to rectify in future. Time delayed is frustrating esp when u are expecting to move in to ur comfy home at certain expected date
-
Ya. Based on wat I knw, those wif toilet separated for shower and poo poo hv pipes at odd places, esp in between the separation wall. Do discuss wif ur ID if it is such. Some of these ugly pipings may or may not be able to be concealed via cardboard/false cabinets.

Hi Gimz, Thks for the advices. Exactly wat I hv in mind. Mine will be full white theme. I knw it's still early but planning always starts early Challenge will be subsequently trying to get the ideal unit and of cos - $$$
-
Ok. Juz make sure u dun walks into the toilet frm MBR when someone is in there. Lol
-
Yes I'm aware of the other type of unit u referring to: I'll prefer the type I posted as I kinda dun like the idea of the store room blocking the living room and kitchen. Of cos if I can't find my ideal type of unit, the one u proposed will be next in line
-
Ur toilet looks great! So will there be a single entrance frm the MBR or two entrances (another one frm kitchen)?
-
Hi all, As u all are aware, I'm trying to design my space allocation planning. As mentioned, I'm likely to get a 3 room unit and will be eyeing for corner unit (see attached floor plan): I'll be hacking off the existing storeroom to make the MBR bigger. A new storeroom will be built (eat into the common room space). The common room wall adjoining the living room will be hacked to make the living room bigger and it'll be used as the main sofa and tv area. I planned it out this way cos after hacking the common room wall, this is the only space big and spacious enough to comfortably converted into the sofa/tv area. Now, the original living room space for a 3 room unit is typically narrow. As I seldom cook, I'll shorten my kitchen space and will incorporate a dining area between the original living room/kitchen area (as seen in many of the reno designs in the forum). Open kitchen concept wif sliding glass doors. The prob I'm stuck wif now is wat am I gonna do wif the remaining area of the original living room space, ie frm the main door entrance to where the dining area is supposed to be. Though I'm gg for minimalist concept, I wun wan this space to be wasted or be a white elephant area which I dun/seldom use. Been searching ard the net for ideas but to no avail. Tts the prob wif narrow 3 room unit. I hv oredi allocated a new living room area frm the modifying of my common room, so I'm stuck wif wat to do wif this remaining space
-
Thks. I'll take a look. While we could somehow compare, it's still the space tt we hv to play ard wif the design and allocation at the end of the day. If based on the type of 3 room corner unit tt I'm looking for, probably i could transform the common into something like this :
-
Not often really. Lol. Juz thinking tt it wun be nice to let guest slp in 'living room' pe say. I'll Incoporate a sofa bed at the living room corner though.
-
Was thinking thru... 3 room unit tends to hv narrow living room. Tts y I mentioned tt I'll be hacking off the common room to widen up the living room area. Wat I'm contemplating nw is whether to convert the common room into a permanent part of the living room or hv a glass partition so tt I could convert it into a guest room shld I hv guest staying overnite. Pros of partition: Provides privacy to guest sleeping at nite. Cons of partition: Doesn't seem to help much on widening the living area due to the limited space constrains. Partitioning may end up resulting in more odd corners/spacing between living room and common room, or rather rendering the area at the opened up common room area somewhat odd sided for use as part of the living room.

Need some advices. Been reading up the forum wrt IDs and contractors. More I read, more confused. If I oredi hv design concept of my own, I need to engage ID rite? Some mentioned tt ID will somehow be the project manager/supervisor but wun the contractor I engage be doing the same as a main cont? Also, I had browsed thru some reno coys and most of their contract states free consultation, 3D drawings, etc. When u all mention ID, u mean these reno coys izzit? Then contractor is wat? Not reno coy? *blur*

It'll be joint custody and I'll hv his company during weekend (due to my work commitments). Likely he'll either slp wif me or in the common room sofabed (when he gets older).
-
Yesh! Tts a very cool convertible sofabed (guess the pricing is gonna be way cool too ) I'm thinking of converting the common room into an extended living area, ie a cosy corner. It'll be an open sliding glass door/wall concept. This circular sofabed served nicely as one impt furnishing in this cosy area. If I hv guest staying overnite, I'll hv binds lowered to cover the sliding glass wall to provide privacy.
