  1. Thanks for your hospitality, Applefreak. Bu ke qi le. Salesperson told me Samsung is not as good. That's my feel with the Samsung top loader as well...a little flimsy. LG was highly recommended by my parents who have used theirs for 3 years without any problems. They prefer LG to Electrolux, the brand of their previous washer. Before Electrolux was AEG, one that lasted 10 to 15 years. But, my parents' philosophy has changed over the years; they now think that it's best not to spend too much on electronic appliances because technology moves very fast. So, in their opinion, it's better to get to replace a cheap washer that lasts for 5 years with a newer more advanced model than to get an expensive one twice the price that lasts for 10 years. LG's fine with me, so I just take their advice loh. Have switched from top load to front load to save the clothes from rough washing.
  2. Got the LG frontload 7kg. Rpm 400-1000 (depending on the wash selection). They have selections for wool, delicate, and handwash. Others: Synthetic (1 and a half hours), cotton (2 and a half hours), quick 30 (for half loads), rinse and spin and drain. Think the LG frontloads have more options/ better technology than the European ones and at a cheaper price.
  3. Nice basin...to be overlaid with granite?
  4. Just got the LG front load for $580; used it twice...not bad at all.
  5. Hihi. How are you getting on?
  6. No worries, now's may; there should be GSS coming right up!
  7. About the window and sliding door catches... The sliding door catch fits but the door frame is a little too wide for the key mechanism to work...anyway, as pointed out by my hubby it didn't make sense to buy one with a key mechanism 'cos nobody enters from the balcony. Sigh...should have bought the cheaper one without any keys. The crescent window catch can screwed on easily but we have problems with the other part 'cos of the different hole sizes but hubby claims that it can be solved by buying the right sized screw and threading the holes.
  8. Registered for $30 swensens voucher, sweet treat from Singtel.
  9. Good luck with your remaining reno!
  10. Mine was installed on their first and only trip leh...so far five days already no problems.
  11. No worries, as long as you and Jan are happy, you score distinction! !!
  12. Hi, Odie. Thanks for visiting. We're settling in...everything's unpacked and in place now, except for the study table...a little messy there. !! Unfinished stuff - the window catches and curtains. First meal - chicken stew - cooked yesterday evening . Yep, the Rinnai hood works great - the floor was not oily at all. The Rinnai hob's good as well; don't have to transfer the pot from bigger burner to a smaller one. Just adjust the flame. Yah, everyone loves the space; the boys love the stairs from Day 1 and so settled in very quickly. A great relief 'cos some children don't take to moving and might feel insecure from the big change. The location is great - there are at least 10 coffee shops within walking distance...at least 4 to 5 stalls with U-channel/ makansukra recommendations. And, the amazing thing is that the people are so friendly here. Twice, the foodstore seller from different coffee shops came and talk with us. People are generally very kids friendly here. We feel very welcomed.

  14. Really nice jacuzzi ...the plant adds to the ambience, too. Must be the work of Totoro!
  15. Heheh...final exams? Happy renovating!
  16. Pictures of Seng Kwong's wardrobes with 15 year warranty and German hardware. Decided to splurged on the wardrobes after seeing so many nice ones on the forum and also because these can moved. The master bedroom wardrobe interior and exterior Another "wardrobe" at the study room. This is like a mini storeroom, a shell with no interior shelving... For flexibility in case we turn this room into a bedroom and need a wardrobe in future, we can put wardrobe shelving inside. That's great! Congrats! Hopefully, you won't get any problems on the day of delivery.
  17. Hi gingerbelle, we've showered for a couple of days and no, the water doesn't flow out 'cos the shower stall is enclosed by the glass screen and the transparent plastic strip that runs along the bottom of the shower screen door. The shower stall slope is well done, the water flows well into the drainage hole. The plastic strip at the foot of the glass door
  18. Hihi rummi, haven't seen u in quite a while...how's your reno. going? We've moved in and unpacked...so now enjoying the fruits ...
  19. Oops! Just found out that 138 Professional Movers just supplies the boxes - 40 of them, 20 small, 10 medium and 10 large. The movers came from the main company Island Link Express.
  20. Update on the movers, as promised. We engaged Island Link Link Express because they gave the best quotation amongst all the movers - $400, inclusive of $80 for the piano and $40 for carrying the king size mattress up 4 flight of stairs. Was told that they have 13 lorries. We were given 2. The move was handled by 138 Professional Movers, a company under the same group. They were very professional. The boxes were moved out first, next came plastic wrapped furniture and lastly, piano and hanging clothes. They have a hanger for 80 pcs of hanging clothes. We reminded them not to throw the boxes and they said no, they were careful. Hubby was very pleased with the way they wrapped up the piano and moved everything. But, we didn't put them to the test and did move all fragile items (glasses and plates) ourselves first (for risk averse and sentimental reasons) after reading about another forumer's moving woes. Thumbs up for the movers.
  21. wah, on holiday and still check renotalk...very on, leh! Heheh!
