The price to pay for hot dates like new year eve, 080808 date and so on.. I believe the surcharge applys to all hotels.. Since your hubby be his brother.. can recover back some cash.. so should be ok. Once I be jie mei, end up i gotten $100 angbao from gate crashing and bride's parents. Then I bao $100 for her wedding dinner @ Rasa Sentosa.. So end up breakeven. I din expect that. Hehe. Hey, my sec sch friend also throw her banquet at Yishun, in a country club.. That was few years back. She ROM liao, but went for a short honeymoon at genting, who knows she is preggy from that trip. Also rushing for dinner. heh~ That was 4 yrs back. I bao $100 for her. !!

Hmm.. if i rem correctly, 2007 pricing is $888++ for weekend. And, my coordinator said, special dates will need to pay additional 5k as surcharge. $250 should be enough to cover. Anyway, your friend will need to return you when your big day arrives. The recent wedding me and my hubby went was in july at fullerton. It is a sunday, we bao $228 for him. My hubby got ask him, what is the cost of per table, he ans $1.3k plus (taxes and alcohol). Meaning what we gave him is not enough to cover. So far for my friends, I will bao at least $100, regardless for venue, except for those not-so-close colleagues. Once I bao $68 for my ex-colleague, she held at dragon gate 88. But I believe is enough to cover, because have check out the prices.. hehe..

I dont think you are vain. Once a lifetime event. Everyone wants it to be grand and special. Either choose your heart or your pocket. It is always a tough decision. If you are vain, then I am worse. Wanted a grand wedding with nice ballroom and deco, knowing it will burn super big hole of our pocket, we still go ahead. Having it at hotel, 788++ per table. Even my colleagues commented is expensive. Although did set aside some percentage of losses, but still worry abt it. Sounds like slapping my own face ya..

Your hubby is right, cannot just skip/cancel the tea ceremony. It is an important procedure. Just like bridegroom will come and pick the bride. It is equally impt. Not so kua zhang that ppl all leave at 10pm lah.. I been to couple of weekday dinners. Dont have such thing. Dont worry ya. What he meant is 2nd round of tea ceremony before banquet starts. You can ask your coordinator to prepare for it. Maybe diva79 & storeberry can share with us if they made any losses for weekday banquet??

Anyway, even holding on sunday, ppl will still complains alittle.. because next day have to work. So far my friends only said, must be prepared that guest wont dress up nicely for your wedding. Maybe at most office wear. Just tell people that is a auspicious date.

Thanks god that you have nice ex-colleagues. Maybe your close friends being too close to you, that's y so frank. But still is hurtful. They leave before dessert is their loss.. not be able to taste nice desserts! As for relatives.. I guess elder ones wont be working anymore?? So should be able to attend.. Tea ceremony can be done 2nd round before wedding dinner pre-reception starts. And it is common. Dont worry too much ya.. You have me accompany you to hold weekday wedding dinner.. I agree with you.. Same banquet menu.. price differ abt $300-$400.. the price is crazy.. Even my coordinator says more worth to hold it on weekdays.. How can your friends say those words. Disappointing... they should be supportive.. Perhaps look for other friends?? It is your wedding.. Your happiness.. not theirs.. I have not settled my jie mei also.. not sure what is their reactions. Will be as disappoint as you if they make such comments. I will attend as long as i can.. I even took half day leave.. just to go home dress up nicely and attend the dinner.. is ppl's wedding dinner.. should dress nicely and attend. My colleague also took weekday package. Reason because they want to end the dinner early. It is our wedding.. I never want to worry abt if relatives are willing to take leave or not. If they dont want, then is too bad.. we can't make everyone happy.
