Hi Aya, I'm planning to buy the Karlstad three-seater from IKEA which is 2.05m only. so there will be approx 1m of walking space in between the dining and the living. Hubby and I seldom spend our time in the living room, i think mostly it will just be for display and collect dust only LOL.. Oh ya.. speaking about track lights shining on me while i'm at the sofa, isn't option 2 a better choice, since the track lights are behind the sofa.. then i can turn off the ones in front(which are above the tv). Or probably i don't need the one above the tv? -

That's a good idea, can save some cost. But just four track lights near the window will it be bright enough? Maybe I am too greedy -

, i was also planning to tile the back splash area only. Save cost The wood laminates are for both your top and bottom cabinet or just the bottom? From the photo, i like the 2nd from left on the 2nd row and the last one on the bottom right. So have you decided? -

25 Mar 2012 (Pre-reno) Hi all, I need your advice and opinion on my lighting points. I was thinking to save money and don't do false ceiling/L-box for living room. So I came out with a plan to install track lights in the living area. But I'm not sure what's the best way to place the track lights. My living room plan Option 1 Option 2 -

Good! I'm looking forward to see how this works! Hehe.. this is not my idea, i saw this on someone's blog (But forgot the exact URL). It's a condo showroom. Is it expensive to custom made the hanging dish rack from the cabinet? Did he ask you to top up? -

Agree that your table needs to be placed against the wall. It will be quite narrow. The U-shaped kitchen looks like a good idea but not so practical. Did you ask your contractor whether it is feasible to hang a stainless steel dish rack like the photo i showed? -

By the way, I thought you are going to have your dining table in the kitchen? This is what i'm planning for my kitchen. There is a basin for my hand-wash clothes -

You can still have an L-shape with dish rack above the sink. Look at the photo below. I personally don't prefer dish rack though. Because i don't like the messiness of having plates and bowls laying on the rack. I prefer to wipe and keep them away. If I have a dish rack I tend to be lazy and leave them at the rack. This is what i think, I'm still struggling whether I should have one or not. -

I think we better get samples of tiles so that when the real tiles arrive, we can check against them, otherwise cannot remember so much details la.. haha -

I felt that our MBR is very small. The 2nd bedroom is even larger than MBR. I can only have a queen sized bed as I need a dressing table and bedside table. -

Oopss.. sounds like not a good idea to remove the gas pipe! Else your toilet will stink! Just leave it there and make it look more industrial with the pipe. That's what i think. -
