I think after completion, the shoe cabinet wouldn't look too bad.

AHHHHHH .. 707 got rain shower head????? I have been using 707 Alpine by Triton for 14 yrs and when I change the showerhead due to age, was told by store assistant instant heater one cannot be big. Water pressure not strong enough - like "bang jio". Should have tried a bigger head for experiment :bangwall: -
Hi Heim, are the Toh Guan family Andrew told me about? He came to my place last Sat and said he just hand over the keys the week before. If I want to see the workmanship, he will try to arrange. If so, what a coincidence! Congrats on your moving in :yamseng:

Our estate got no gas one leh. Wonder whether Joven or Champs has temperature control. -
@ Battle : Wahahahaha ... Alamak!! You really wicked lah! I laughed till my pants almost drop Actually, as long as we don't produce noise, drip water, throw things down, don't cook smelly food like belachan, they are ok one. So, we only broke rule no: 1. Ok .. sometimes maybe rule no: 4 too. I would braise pig trotters in sweet, black vinegar during rainy season.

Girls want rainshower too. Problem is our 2 toilets are too far away from each other. Andrew says MBR toilet (used solely by hubby) may have to wait 10 mins for hot water. Another setback is we 3 ladies like to keep adjusting the temperature according to our own preferences. Is considering storage tank for common and instant heater for MBR or vise versa. -
May, I think you are right. All granite seems to come with dots including galaxy black. Don't seems to have just plain, solid one-color tone. If someone have info on plain colored granite, pls share. I want those!! I was contemplating whether to consider quartz as it was supposed to be heat resistant, anti- scratch, anti-strain etc. I must research on this more liao.

If I inform them earlier, then they get a court order to stop me from renovating, how? Wahaha. I'll warn Andrew 1st to keep noise to a minimum. Such neighbor will always have things to complain one. They are oblivious to the fact that above them and apart from us, there are still 6 other families. To them, anything that falls from above must be from us including "jiao sai"!! Funny thing is, when we meet each other, we will still display our "colgate advertisement" . Soooo hypocritical of us both, right?
-
I suppose it depends on your lifestyle. Do you have a habit of doing everything all at one go? If so, then combine lor. If not, I think separate will be better. Then 2 person can use at the same time without waiting

It's more like "once bitten, twice shy". When we did our reno yrs ago, neighbor below complained to HDB that our waterproofing (in process)in the common toilet short-circuited their whole house. Then they report police when our contractor did wiring works on Sat afternoon. Our contractor warned us that we might get a visit from our men in blue which we never did. Din know Sat can only work half day. When my neighbor (2 floors up) did reno work 2 yrs ago, neighbor below wrongly accused us of every time doing renovation. This time, it will be for real!! Hehehehe I've informed all 3 other neighbors surrounding us except them. Have to thread very carefully around their man of the house as he is a retired architect.

Serangoon North Renovation By Defong Interior Design

Ahh.. which means just a scrape of the old paint, a coat of primer, then 2-3 coat of fresh paint and everything will be as good as new. Problem solved -
Did the plasters popped out at the wall or ceiling? Like muska1119, I am a little concern as to the reason. Please share
-
eh hum.. my 2 girls are in their 20s. No more school liao .The timing was chosen because it is just after the university exams, before prelims for PSLE, N, O and A level exams. Otherwise, my neighbours surrounding us will burn our house down due to the noise. :fire: We want to move back before 7th month starts as well as my younger girl's convocation in August. During renovation must "jaga" the process abit leh.

Hiye, from experience, HDB officer will come with a water monitoring meter to test for leakage in your ceiling. If you want to expedite things a bit if HDB is slow in responding when you call by phone, send your queries by email. They have a time frame to respond to emails. Same with TC. Unless the neighbour is willing to cooperate with HDB and you, there shouldn't be a problem. -
Wahaha. Hubby's classmate has 8 kids (reported in the ST years ago) . Initially, she had 2 helpers plus herself. Then she opened a childcare centre and you guessed it .. half the enrollment are her own children. The youngest is in PR school liao. @ thedottyness - no problem one lah.
-
Four? Good for you and your wife SG needs more parents like you to stabilise the population. FIGHTING (Korean) :yamseng:
-
Hello thedottyness My ID mentioned that for solid tops, a scratch will be white on a dark colored top. If you use a light colored top, you'll get glass ring marks if you did not use coasters. It is quite similiar with "corraine" material. Granite or quartz will not have this problem. Maybe you would like to research on this 1st before deciding?

Ah .. you've got your copy too? I'll also feel proud if my house is featured. Means got taste mah! :sport-smiley-004: Eh? Was it a pole dancing TV or the board rotating kind? -
Intend to start hacking May 28. I will have a normal open concept kitchen. Doors of common toilet and MBR will be relocated. Hacking walls from girls' BR through storeroom to MBR to make way for a small WIW for the 2 girls. Hubby's home office occupies the balcony. We will move out for abt 6 weeks during renovation. After knowing how costly it is to move a piano, I'll just leave it in the house all wrapped up. Andrew said I'm the "yim jim" type as I like cleanliness. Since the windows are still of the current design and well maintained, I can keep those and he'll get someone to change any rusty locks and dried up plastic safety devices. Will get his men to vanish my teak wood bed and "gu dong" weighing scale. @Rain - I waited 3 wks just to get an appt with my ex-shortlisted ID. Then the house visit date just kept postponing. One mth liao and still no show. Altogether wasted 2 mths on him.

Looking good Ohh.. "daring" to use black for L box and the contrasting effect is stunning.
-
My WM is also top load Fisher & Paykel. It is very loud during dry spin. Can hear the noise throughout the house. Once a week, I have to push WM back a little because vibration shifted it forward. Apart from these, it is reliable and user friendly.
-
I totally agree with you, potatoes. I have tried to keep things to a minimum. I do not even have a dinner table and chairs. We eat Korean style, using our square coffee table. Yeah, due to insufficient planning and unforeseen circumstances yrs ago, part of MBR became hubby's home office. Imagine having to share the room with the desktop computer, laser printer, fax, shredder apart from my beloved every night ... Yup! I will be enjoying the whole renovation process. @May - wahaha .. then I'll change the doors around. Still got the numerous lights. One day change 2 bulbs again shiok! Hehehe
-
@mihochris - Think I'm in luck this time round. Should be using the same contractor as Battle and May_Dream1. Maybe you would like to consider him? Have a look at Aristotle's blog too. His contractor is Roy from IR Design.
-
With most things being fixed after the renovation, it will cure me of the habit of shifting big items around. I can still move the beds, sofa, piano and decorative items though. Kekeke.

Andrew came at 10pm and left at 1am. During these 3 hrs, we more or less covered all areas - taking measurements, our preferences and concerns. Alamak! He sure is honest!! Disclosed certain things which no other ID would want a potential client to know. Most IDs will present a modern, sophisticated picture and everything you want also can but he is more practical in his approach. That is what we like. He will submit his quotes to us by early April due to his very heavy schedule as well as he needs to look for similar marble slab as my current flooring. Quite a bit of hacking and plenty of carpentry works. As we did not limit him to any budget constraint, estimated damage would be $45K - $50K. We should be using him
