  1. Thanks! I didn't really hide them, it's still visible behind the tv and not very neat..my neighbor gave us some tubes (similar to those washing machine type) and a few wires go into each tube into the console..
  2. First one too..goes better with the feel of ur place..but then..I'll be worried abt dust..possible with drawers? =p And I vote gray sofa too..it's perhaps more everlasting (but common/boring)..what abt spicing it up with those pink cushions instead? =D
  3. it's not 'cheem', it's just very the ex.. hahaha, so indecisive? never mind to irritate him, as long as you get your home just as you like it..
  4. We have just added a new mirror, installed digital locks for the main door and gate (after contemplating for a long time, as we were very impressed after visiting bigbull's place) and will be changing the curtains from the lousy rods (wanted to save money a year back) to tracks and working on a small project that the husband says 'a second renovation'. I think after all these, it'll really be the end of our renovation journey in the near future (I think so!), unless you count painting turquoise stripes to my future (no idea when) baby room. And here are some lived-in pictures of our home before 'a second renovation'. We're really not very neat people and yes, I struggle with clutter and household chores. So, it's no show-room worthy pictures really, but what the home actually looks like most of the time (it's more messy some days when laundry covers the sofa). Don't you always wonder how renovated homes look like after people really move in and stay in it? I always do wonder!
  5. Hee it's better to be chased than chase! Yar he's really fast, suits my pace cuz I'm the kind tt plans ahead..glad that he's still upholding his quality =) And yea, we're doing up the baywindows now that we've recovered financially..he says very busy, won't be so fast..current customers have priority than our small job =p
  6. love the honeycombs! regret not getting that instead now..
  7. looking good! great to see Mr K working his magic again..
  8. hey, pm-ed you..seems like he's doing quite a few other places on renotalk too.. =)
  9. So, we finally got a huge mirror for the wall above our sideboard. Pardon the mess, because we are simply not very neat people who make their lived-in homes look like showrooms. =P This is the view from the kitchen/entrance. And this is the view from the corridor. We initially wanted to save some money, and got a 30x160cm mirror ($39 only) from Ikea and got our neighbor to help us drill and mount it up. It wasn't ideal, much too small actually. I considered getting 2 mirrors to be placed above each other, but the husband opposed to it. After a few months, the mirror started to warp, perhaps being unable to take the mirror weight. So, we decided to get a big mirror, after recovering somewhat from all the renovation-wedding-honeymoon expense. I asked Mr K for a quote despite hearsay that his prices ain't that cheap anymore, and also contacted some mirror supplier. Surprisingly, his quote was lower than the mirror supplier and he ended up charging us the 1m x 1.6m price even after we decided to get the 1.3m x 1.6m size - perhaps out of goodwill and appreciation for all the customers we have got him. The mirror was really of good quality and good workmanship with solid wood backing. The workers came on time and I'm as usually impressed by them. The guys took great care in installation and cleaning up, and polished my mirror till it shined. They even helped us to sand our main door and commented/gave advise on the bad workmanship of our laminate (because we DIY-ed with our neighbors and just paid for the laminate!). Even the husband was impressed by the guys. I am still very appreciative of Mr K and his dedication to his work of beautifying homes, the good attitude of his workers. After working with PRCs and Bangala, you really appreciate Malaysian workers with good work ethic and attitude. Not to generalize or discriminate here, but there's a marked difference. And Sometimes, it's worth paying more for quality and to avoid trouble. You get what you pay for. The home now look bigger and brighter with the mirror! Moreover, if you believe in fengshui, mirrors facing the dining table reflects abundance and the good energy when family and friends gather. We are also slowly working on small projects on our home, perhaps doing something with the bay windows and installing digital locks. Have been wanting to do a before and after as the home is more or less done up, yet have been procrastinating since the home does not look like a showroom anymore. Soon, soon.
  10. hello pm-ed.. secretive ma? there're quite a few homes done by him here and i've given his contacts to countless people le..just that haven't been logging in much, and have been somewhat lazy with posting concluding this thread with a before and after post..
  11. wow 5 hours! pm-ed you.. good luck!!
  12. haven't logged in for some time, but your place has turned out to be really stunning!! by the way, just curious, do you have a maid? those deco on open shelves is going to be hard work to maintain..
  13. oh nooo!! that really is very irritating..i really like the vintage kind too and wanted to get it, but hubby insist that it didn't fit our place.. Mr K must be thinking..pinkwhale renovating again???
  14. hey, i eventually got one that my neighbor recommended..but almost got ah mah on wheels after hearing some good comments..
  15. On console? It's a light blue mat from ikea too..can't really remember how much though..
  16. Kelhy it's from ikea for $79..we got the cheapest one we can find cuz we were worried if the dog might mistaken it for grass and pee on it =p Sry guys, been busy with wedding and honeymoon-ing in Europe now..will try to share contacts or pm me if I've missed out.. =)
  17. i bought it from taobao..like my lights..
  18. my console is about 54cm high..but shd be able to customize it..i think we did ask for slightly taller or shorter, i can't rem.. the coffee table is about 50cm tall..think it can be customized too..
  19. hey i noticed that there's no holes drilled on the wall before doing the brick wall? it's for better holding power otherwise the bricks may not stick well on smooth surfaces..
  20. hey sry missed this out..will try to measure it tmr.. it's actually yellowish green..some ppl call it scandinavian green.. it does go with the wood pretty well.. we did it at lorgans..the height was alright for us, good to prop my legs up when sitting on sofa.. but i think u can customize the height too.. hmm i dunno how to explain, I put the curtain into the bracket..so the corners are 'dead' because it's stuck in the bracket..will try to take a picture for u.. pm-ed pm-ed..cost was shared in the link below..
  21. The living room is finally complete! Living room. Papa bear chair. The smile table custom-made in oak. We're only left with bedside tables and study table..it's almost time for a before-after picture to conclude renovations..
  22. great! i think u shd keep the marble too, it's quite light in color with nice grains..u can consider more wood and rugs to bring out the look instead..
  23. it is tiles and feels like tiles..i think it isn't as cold as marble or glossy wood tiles, but still kind of cold..mine is 60x15 and same tile throughout whole house including kitchen and service yard with the exception of toilet (given by HDB).. hmm for laminates vs wood tiles i guess u'll have to do some research to know the pros and cons before deciding what you want..i do not like laminates because of the feel when you walk on it and it sounds hollow..it's also less durable and needs more care to avoid too much water..it wasn't a choice for us as we wanted same flooring for whole house to create the illusion of continuity and bigger space..laminates are not suitable for kitchen.. there are other options such as vinyl which is 'waterproof'..but i think i shared why i don't like it too, because water may seep through the gaps in between and smell or cause mould after some time..same problem if you forget to close your windows or there's a leak somewhere..some are also concerned about health risks for vinyl which gives out poisonous fumes which some believe is harmful, especially for children.. i love my flooring because it's very low maintanance, i don't have to worry about water or scratches at all..good for lazy people like me but if budget is a concern i've to say that laminates are a tempting choice, given the wide variety of wood grains now..
