Day 37 (15 Sep 2012) Carpentry continued today but nothing much could be done as there's lots of drillings involved, which they didn't want to do for fear that the noise will disturb the neighbours. The rest of my stuff including my lights and bathroom accessories were all delivered today. All set for the last burst of fire

For my case, they came in to do the inspection on the first day I collected my keys, before hacking began. I If there's infestation they will have to perform treatment before your hacking can begin. Otherwise once you've hacked, they will come in to inject the chemicals before your tiler can lay the tiles. Actually once you've confirmed the pest control, just get your contractor or id to liaise with them. That's what I did, for all other works I procured on my own as well. After procurement I will just pass their contacts to my ID and he will arrange with them.

How about wood tiles?

I don't think there is a right or wrong as far as design, styling or beauty is concerned. We knew what we wanted our house to look like and we set about achieving it. I need a house esthetically pleasing but more importantly functional and comfortable. I dun need a showflat or quirky designs that probably only designers can appreciate.

The Helping Hands Mover
Minerat replied to kenkoh88's topic in Moving House: Packing, Storing, Moving To Your New House
Okay, I will give a very balanced view. Plus points Indeed as pointed out by many forummers here, they are very fast, efficient, friendly and professional. They did everything in double-quick time and ensure that everytime gets moved orderly. Traumatic Unfortunately, their speed became their bane at times. They are so focused on getting things done fast, sometimes at the expense of care. 1. They wore shoes into my house. I know that is pretty minor but people do get bothered by it. 2. They use the trolley inside my house, and load all the heavy stuff onto the trolley before dragging the trolley (with all the load) inside my house. They also have this habit to tilt the trolley with their foot and bang it down onto the floor. Needless to say, they created alot (and I mean ALOT) of scratches on my parquet floorings because of that. 3. When they were trying to move my sofa, I told them that the sofa can be dismantled into 3 individual seats. They tried to do so but end up dragging my sofa all over the living room. Needless to say, my marble flooring was pretty badly scratched. 4. From the beginning, I'd already told them that my King bed needed to dismantle and reassemable. However, when the bed was moved over, the IC told me they don't have enough time to reassemble my bed for me because they have another job to rush to. I was like...WT Insisted that they reassembled the bed, which they finally did, but did it wrongly! I have to call them back to reassemble, which kudos to them, they did. 5. After the move, I'd found scratches and tears on my leather sofa, scratches on the side of piano etc. At the end of it all, as I was standing in my house looking at all the scratches on my floors I asked myself if this is what I want for my new house?? No doubt they are fast and good and professional but I'd trade that anyday for them to take more care about my house and ensure that things remain in good condition after the move. So for my new house, I made sure my movers commit to hand-carry and take off shoes inside my house. -
Anyone Buy Aircon From Aircon Designs ?
Minerat replied to fanyong7980's topic in Electronics & Electricals
My aircon bought from Aircon Designs. Was recommended by my ID. I wanted a Daikin and compared prices with Gain city. As the difference is minor, I gave the job to Aircon Designs. So far haven't had any issues. -
Beats me This is what the painter boss told me. It's like in his mitigation for using Penalite, he said at least he didn't use Matex to paint my walls.

Your water pipes could run everywhere, not just the toilets. Some run along the ceilings, some like mine run along the floor.

My internet is with singtel and I have a phone point at the level 3 study area where I intend to place the modem. Not sure about signal strength but I believe there is an adapter that can boost wireless strength by plugging into a power socket. I haven't tried it before though but seen them on sale at challenger.

just curious, why do you need to change the system? any problem with existing system?

After hacking make sure to check the concealed pippings and get your contractor to change those they damaged. This is sure to happen with hacking.
