how near is "too near"?? i'm thinking of getting the hitachi 42" plasma... my living room is small, the distance from sofa to TV is only about 2m... is that considered too near??? -
if choose all the cheaper materials, it's quite possible to be less than $10k... some contractors are doing that...

i went to the Alumix showroom last weekend... v nice WIW ... price range is about $100 pfr, depending on the configurations (shelves, cabinets, suspended drawers, drawers on castors, clothes hangers) but excluding doors... got 8 or 9 colors to choose from... price is inclusive of delivery, installation and 1-year warranty on mechanism... no drilling into walls and ceilings required... 7-ft tempered glass sliding doors cos about $800 and tempered glass bifold doors about $1300... their more expensive brand is Ximula, which is Alumix spelt backwards ... Ximula typically about twice the price of Alumix cos Ximula has nicer profiles/shapes, better quality finishings and anti-slam drawers... the cheaper alternative is IKEA... say for a similar 7-ft WIW configuration, if Alumix costs $700, then IKEA will cost abt $400 + $100 for delivery and installation... also, IKEA's WIW requires drilling into the ceiling and has no warranty...

only left one side for the swing door to swing open to and that is to the household shelter wall... cos one side is the toilet entrance, one side is the fridge area and the other side is the main door area... some more, if planning to do shoe cabinet along the household shelter wall, then no more side for the swing door to swing open to liaox...

she showed me the 4 and 5-rm units... in the 4-rm unit, she mentioned that the electrical points given are not conveniently located... gotta do a lot of re-wiring work... also may not be possible to do sliding door for the kitchen entrance because there are electrical and SVC points on one side of the wall and the electric circuit breaker box on the other side, so the door can't slide into either side of the wall.. she mentioned may have to do bifold door, which is even more ex than sliding door...

hi ekardo, can PM me where to get 9500 for $2050??? thanks! -
the SERS pple have up to 4 months to vacate their old flats, so for blk 25a, most prob would be almost completely filled up by this year end liaox... for blk 26, most prob by Apr 08 for the entire SERS batch to move in...

hi moonbell, no need for the piping $1200... our new flats already come with concealed hot/cold water pipings... the contractor just needs to lay a small length of piping from the water heater to the hot/cold water inlet/outlet points located just besides the toilet... an ID quoted me $60 for it... think u can even get it for free...

Ventilation Exhaust Fan Installation For Toilet ?
redbottle replied to tientien's topic in Plumbing & Electrical Works
roughly how much will it cost to change lourve type window to top-hung type window? -
for electrical work, the ID will usually sub-contract out to a third party to do, so if ur ID won't do the ventilating fan for u, u can still ask the electrician sub-contractor to do for u... dun need to go thru the ID... my colleague taught me this tip....

hmm, i was told LG's Hi-Mac costs almost the same as Dupont's Corian, abt $130-150 pfr... if so, think can consider Corian over Hi-Mac since Corian's reputation is also very good and very branded... but both too expensive for me, haha... Staron more affordable...

does HDB allow us to cover up this big u-tube at a top corner of the kitchen???

25A IS ready... some units already doing reno liaox... another case of glass hob shattering... deliza hob shattered
-
perhaps can try the solid surface from Samsung... the brand is called Staron... it is also 100% acrylate, but cheaper than LG's Hi-Mac or Dupont's Corian... an ID quoted me $100 pfr of Staron but i've read in renotalk/SgBride that less than $90 pfr is possible... i've seen one 5-rm unit in 25A with windows opened, on a high floor, but dun know exactly which one... perhaps got contractor already doing reno there already... u can easily identify which unit is already doing reno by just looking at whether there is a padlock on the main gate...

hi loobhlinda, i'm curious to know why the ID said accessories expensive and not very safe to use?? has he or she personally used the gas water heater before??? or encountered problems with it??? the feedback i have received from pple who have personally used the gas water heater is that it is v reliable and safe... use for more than 7 years, never spoilt before... no accident before also... furthermore, as the citigas pple explain, the gas water heater comes with the flame failure device, so gas supply will be cut off if the flame goes off... the gas clothes dryer comes with this device too, and some models of gas cooker hob...

in singapore, gas is cheaper than electricity... gas costs abt $0.17 and elec costs $0.21 per kWh... btw, the free citigas water heater can heat up water to a max of 55 deg celcius... hence the hot water pipe won't be too hot also... just mix with some cold water and u've got a nice warm shower
-
should be electric heater more expensive bah... that's why govt wants to encourage pple to use citigas heater by giving the heater free... as i heard from the citigas pple at the citigas showroom, gas heater is more common than electric heater in japan and hk because gas heater is cheaper to run...
-
the gas clothes dryer is not free... dryer itself costs $630 (b4 gst) plus $80 (b4 gst) for the gas piping... it's a 6kg dryer, and gas/elec consumption per laundry load costs abt $0.80... in comparison, a 6kg automatic electric dryer costs also abt $600 and elec consumption per load abt $1.20... so gas clothes dryer is more economical...

oh, i mean to conceal the water pipes only, cos the pipes will be hot when the gas water heater is in use... ya, cannot fully box up the gas water heater... the citigas regulation is that if the gas water heater is placed in a cabinet, the top and bottom part of the cabinet must not be covered, and the front must be lourved... the citigas pple will advise how to position the gas water heater when they go to the flat to turn on the gas supply...
