  1. im such a noob, i dont even know you can actually bargain with the shops and ask them to match the prices you see elsewhere lol. you're so well versed with all the places! i think i wont have the stamina to shop around 5-6 places just to buy some appliances! my stamina all depleted looking for contractors/ID and the "good" news? im still looking! i think i will give kimchi brands a miss this time round. i never bought big ticket samsung/LG items but small ones like dvd player and vacuum cleaner in the past and they were not good so i really second what you say. i guess its like their entertainment industry, their focus are on the outer appearance! lol heard bad reviews abt hoe kee, had a shock their fb is like 1 star on average but i havent seen or experienced it myself so i will go take a look. btw i really like your moodboard! im thinking of hexagon tiles in the bathroom but not sure whether will go out of style or not. what do u think?
  2. sorry to hear that, on a brighter side at least you'll be able to get an exchange. i will be buying my lightings from taobao so praying to the lighting gods that they will work, at least majority of them. btw could you pm me your contractor? thanks!!
  3. nice purchases! i love herman miller but cannot afford real designer pcs. guess i will buy replicas from taobao lol. i cannot decide where to buy my appliances from leh. shd i go for the mainstream harvey norman/best denki or places like audio house, mega discount store. i received the member invite from gain city but missed it. is it alot cheaper compared to other places? im also having qualms abt buying bosch or other european brands. i heard that once your warranty expires, it will be very costly to repair since their parts are very ex and their customer service also not very responsive. else i actually wanna buy bosch, miele or de dietrich
  4. @Monishka can do but like what @cookingbaker said will eat into my dining area. if you solely want to keep the wet & dry into the existing kitchen area, not really possible for BTO even if you hack away the service yard. moreover my kitchen only 2.4m long. ridiculous!
  5. awww honestly i would prefer your layout, i was just telling my hubby we should have gotten one without a kitchen wall so we dont have to spend money hacking. too bad we werent given a choice whether we wanted walls or not. waterway has such a nice view, cant wait to see the pics of your new home! its always fun to see projects of the same flat type lol
  6. OMG hi fellow 3 roomer!! it looks like we almost have the same layout. you also have a teeny tiny kitchen like mine, and your household shelter is at the main entrance. will be camping here for updates!
  7. are you serious? went to their facebook and their review is 4.7. looks like all fake one. did you write a review just to bring down their score a little?? they're even on q****!!
  8. oh thats good! slooooowly look around because there are so many things to do. and they're all big decisions so cannot afford to be hasty. got a big shock you said you'll buy fridge & washing machine last? i thought those things are essential! do you already have them at the moment and planning to reuse?
  9. ya, and paying so much to hack, make good then do glass sliding doors. is yours BTO as well?
  10. i feel you, everything is so expensive these days. have you tried looking at cheaper places for furniture? i will be buying most of my stuff like tv console, bedframe & sofa from castlery, fortytwo.sg or hipvan and then rest like lighting from taobao. i too have a tight budget and its pretty shocking how much it costs to reno + furnish. i will also be laying my own vinyl flooring, again from taobao. probably will cost $200 compared to $4000 as quoted by contractors & IDs. basically need to do lots of DIY to save cost, even considered painting my own walls.
  11. im doing part wet part dry. extending my wet kitchen to service yard, will have a dry kitchen with island counter & tall cabinet in my living. trying to cramp everything in my 3 room BTO is really a joke, but i need a place to bake & hold my classes.
  12. i know what you mean, its not the first time i've heard about these people getting cold once the project's ending is nearing. now we can only pray they will stick to their words and come rectify! shouldnt even be our job to worry! i hope everything will be over and you can enjoy your home really soon! hang in there.
  13. ohhh nice purchases! at the speed you're posting you will be done very soon lol. im having qualms abt buying from lioncity co coz i read many negative reviews abt them being rude, esp the old aunty there, think shes the lady boss. i saw their appliances on lazada as well but it stated no warranty so dont dare to buy. any idea whether qoo10 offers extended warranty on the appliances?
  14. we're doing the unconventional, which is good! people also tell me like "huh yr house so small still do until so dark" but i really like it! haha. im mostly going for dark grey, black or very dark slate blue/blue-ish green sort of hue. absolutely no white. am even thinking of black for my ceiling. have you decided what colors you're using? yes i saw your wet & dry kitchen! i thought of doing that as well, i think its a brilliant idea to be able look through the whole island and yet smoke/fumes wont escape when you're cooking, keeps the aircon from going to the wet kitchen also.
  15. very beautiful, you have good taste! im also into the dark cozy look! how much is your reno, if i may ask? if its not convenient to reveal i could just pm you lol we're similar in a sense that mine's also a 3 room, but its a BTO. im also hacking lots of walls to make it studio style, but since i bake, im trying to accomodate a small wet kitchen and a dry kitchen with island counter in my living room. i also used the request a quote on q*** was matched with 5. i didnt like any of them, either their quotes were too high (whos going to pay for their advertising on q*** but us!) or they didnt understand what i wanted. prior to that i also spoke to 12 contractors. had the same thought that since we already knew what we wanted contractors would be good. but they were either not cheap because some of my requirements eg. pole system wardrobe they had to outsource, or they were too intimidated and told me to find a designer. so all in all i also spent a month talking to these people. ended up shortlisting one ID recommended by a fellow renotalker. will be following your updates closely!
  16. wow i love everything im seeing lately, dark bathroom, wardrobe, kitchen door bearing your initials! btw how long did your reno take? have you started since dec? now its nearing apr liao, almost 4 mths??
  17. oh? but i thought thats what people usually do, stack them. you mean if you stack, the top of the dryer will hit the laundry rack? or the string pulley itself? because usually the string thing is on the other side of the yard, below the bathroom window. anyway im taking the whole thing down because im having a tall enclosed unit there to cover the pipes and washer/dryer . might have to buy shorter ones from taobao :-/ thanks! following your updates too!
  18. OMG then how? could i just let the tube out into the kitchen while i use it? afterall my kitchen entrance will have a door so even if its really hot the hot air wouldnt come out into the living room. i think thats what the angmos do, if u google laundry area for small homes they normally put it in an enclosed cabinet. i like that if you dont stack it you can have a counter top above the washer, some will put an ironing board there. because im converting my service yard into a wet area (with my sink & stove) i will have to shift the washer inside. not sure whether the washer can use the existing point meant for the sink? might have to shift the points here & there but since my kitchen is vvvvv small (2.4m only) there shouldnt be an issue. i think.
  19. your home is so nicely done!! and the view is to die for! how much did you pay for the painting if i may ask? did they come up to yr unit before giving you a quote? thanks for andy's contact, it seems really reasonable. i will contact him!
  20. thanks so much for the advice! im only worried that if the dryer has tube where im going to put it as im not going to put the washer and dryer in my service yard. they will be in my kitchen inside a tall enclosed cabinet. like this : so im not sure whether i will have a problem with the tube or not?

  22. carpentry looks good!! and track lights actually look good in your home maybe coz its big! im too chicken to put it in my home, initially wanted to put in my 2.4m BIG kitchen! haha everything will be ok, cant wait to see your big surprise lol
