  1. Hi Bros,

i accidentally spill some of the silicone sealant on my HDB homogeneous tiles, I would like to know the following:

    1. Beside using blade to remove, is there any solvent i can used?

    2. The sealant didn't seems to dry up, it had a rubbery texture and overtime dust seems to stick to the silicone.

    3. I notice there is always "water-like" stain on...

  2. Hi , Please pm me If you are interested to know where to get it in singapore.
  3. Hi sir,

Sorry about that if i have confused you sir.
  5. Hi sir You can use any mop as long as long as it does scratch the floor . ( I have encounter clients before scratching their floors with mops . I also not sure how it happen either . Just be careful ) As for gloss surface . My personal recommendation would be to avoid at all cost. I know it looks pretty good with glossy surface. But it's going to be a nightmare when you start to drag furnitures across your timber floor or accidentally causing a scratch on the floor. ( it's going to look like an ice skating rig) unless you are willing to wax and polish every year then it should be fine.

@ibeilieveindevil I am suggesting that if anyone is interested in learning how to make their own flooring. Basically we can buy materials from supplier and fix it on our own. However the cutting tools is pretty ex and you use it once only. If anybody is interested we can perhaps invest in one set of the cutting tools. Share amongst our own (I am not sure its workable that's why i am asking) @matrix0405 Vinyl flooring is cheaper and waterproof. Not much maintenance needed.Maybe can consider that option
  8. Yes sir, You are very right. That's why I don't recommend any high gloss or shiny surface when you use laminate or vinyl flooring at home. Technically, shiny flooring for vinyl or laminate needs to be coated with a chemical called aluminum oxide to gain shine and gloss. However the resistance to scratch will be compromise too. Since the protective coat needed to prevent scratch has to share space for aluminum oxide . However to be frank if you don't expose your vinyl floor to direct sun light . Everything will be fine. Some of the Manufracters come with uv protection coating so indirect light is fine. That's why you don't see vinyl flooring outdoors. But to be fair to vinyl flooring I have to say that h tiles will lose its brightness if you don't maintain it well either ( scratch or dirt or never clean ) but h tiles is easier to maintain. Vinyl flooring has evolved to included wood grain design over the years. It's pretty cheap in the market . But actually you still will not get the feel of real wood flooring after all. As its still a thin slice of vinyl as compared to laminate it's different

Yup to cut cost in labor fees and you install your own floor which means you determine your own workmanship.
  10. Hi , The size of these 2 type of flooring may varies according to the Manufactoring plant which the distributor obtains from and in return your ID gets from ? However the main concern should be how the flooring is imstalled . Laminate flooring uses floating floor concept installation whereas vinyl flooring mostly uses glue for installation. Both methods requires your overlay floor to be in a perfect even condition . If the overlay floor is very uneven your floor will look very werid at certain angles. Besides this you should look at the cost factor for these 2 products. Higher AC for laminates have to compromise for the melamine paper as the layers to coat on top of the melamine paper to achieve scratch resistance and shiny surface your final product will produce a very blur image of the wood surface. That's the problem if you coat more layers to achieved higher AC rating. So the cost is very high. So chose your flooring properly so that you don't waste the unnecessary money on things you don't really need
  11. Dear sir, It's pretty hard to identify the AC rating by naked eyes actually. I have seen a lot of people claiming ac4-ac5 for their products but actually none of them actually makes the specs at all. Unless you sent it to PSB for testing of their flooring otherwise it's quite easy to be con by the AC rating. From what I know . Only Germany can produce AC 5 flooring . Even if other countries are making it the cost of AC 4-5 flooring is a sky high figure . Which probably will run in the range of Myanmar teak wood or even higher. As this is due to the production issues causing lots of scrap while producing good quality ac5 flooring
