  1. This is the first time I see someone doing this in the kitchen..haha! Does the two-on-one-ring method work?
  2. Hi, what is the assembly charge you have to pay to IKEA? I usually self assemble IKEA stuff and I'm thinking of getting them to assemble for me to save time.
  3. Hello, that's the Arden tripod fan. Its sold here for more than $800. It's also found in US and Australia. Though nice to look at, it may not be that useful. it oscillates just 50 deg. So not suitable for big room.
  4. The biggest purchase this weekend is my Samsung tv... And the current object of my desire is this tripod fan....
  5. Burnt yet another hole in the pocket this weekend... Bought these pretty containers for my washing powder and clothes pegs... Stationery drawers for my study table (if I have one) A fire escape rack ..! This has got to be one of the most quirky wall shelves I have ever seen. A black steel rack for plants and shoes (to match the fire esape shelf) A Campbell soup kitchen timer.. A rack for the balcony for plants and shoes
  6. Haha! I'm forced to DIY bcos couldn't find anything to my liking. Now I need to move my lazy bones this weekend and start sewing!
  7. Its from Amazon. Here's the link http://www.amazon.com/Amerock-H55662-HORB-27-Inch-Beveled-Oil-Rubbed/dp/B003UYU1LG
  8. yes! And we dont need a reason to buy something...
  9. Cushions.... Wish I could have colours like orange and pink...but those colours are taboo in rustic industrial scandi design.. And finally this very pretty vintage drawer knob.. Not sure what I will do with this...but really can't resist buying it. This is the sofa that my ID has approved. Will be buying it this weekend.
  10. it's the last lap of my reno and carpentry is almost done. but no pix yet as the place is still rather messy. Next week I hope will be the furnishing week - adding the final touches to the kitchen wall to get that cafe look, completing the rustic industrial tv console and decorating of dining room. We no longer have the luxury of time bcos my first group of visitors have invited themselves to my place on june 26. That's less than a month away and I haven't bought a single piece of furniture bcos I was waiting to see how everything turns out before deciding on the furniture and furnishing. So this weekend is likely to be full-Steam shopping for me. And thank God is GSS! Anyway, did some shopping these past few days... Bought this online without ID's knowledge. Finally showed him today and got his approval! Book boxes to soften the look of my industrial tv console For the kitchen.. Again these were bought behind ID's back... Hope he is ok with them... Lurve this old school hanger. Haven't decided where to put this... Buy first, worry later
  11. Crate and Barrel at Orchard Ion.. Nice furniture there but rather costly.
  12. Hi, I just came back from spotlight and I couldn't find the fabric! I didn't know there's such brisk business at spotlight..what a pity!
  13. Poor Mr E! It must be very tiring to be there daily from morning till afternoon!
  14. Im considering getting a small mobile island for the kitchen, which will double up as a table for coffee or a quick meal. Saw this black one which is of the right size and height. Shall kiv till great singapore sale!
  15. Hello, how's the wardrobe?
  16. I suspect Alan reads renotalk..! ... Hello Alan ....
  17. That's the bed from Picket & Rail's chicago series right? I love that bed! But still considering whether to buy It bcos it's quite industrial looking. My bedroom has a soft, white theme.
  18. That's really fast! Hope it's exactly like what you wanted! My MBR has become smaller now that my wardrobe is up. but no regrets... I didn't want to hack any walls to make a walk in wardrobe. That would cost too much.
  19. Haha.. That's my back up plan too! As for DIY, I'm going to start work on my blinds soon. Now feeling the pressure since curtain rods are up and tv console will be done next week I think. And I haven't forgotten about your ikea hack
  20. hi, the only black rods I saw are from ikea. But I'm not sure how much weight they can hold so I'm still looking around for alternatives. Will let u know if I see something
  21. My washer is right at the end, just outside the toilet. Foo has to think of a way to hide it, or else anyone who walks into my flat can see the washer. I saw the fabric at the curtains section. It might have been hidden by rolls of fabric. I will go check when I next visit spotlight.
  22. Actually my sellers wanted to give me all their furniture and furnishings, but their stuff are mainly white or beige in colour, which don't fit into my theme. It's quite sad actually bcos the couple lived in the flat for only a year and separated after that. They didn't live in the flat for 4 years but returned regularly just to clean it. The fridge was also left running for 4 years and had no problem. So the flat was in good condition (except for the floor tiles which were hollow as they were the original tiles from many years ago). Now I'm actually quite worried about the fridge. I switched it off during Reno and I hope it won't go into hibernation mode and not revive!
  23. on the opposite side of the wall is a long row of lower cabinets. I think black is the right choice bcos it makes my cabinets look less like kitchen cabinets. I think at a glance, the cabinets look more like living room cabinets. There will be no switches on the wall bcos i have no upper cabinets to conceal the switches. instead, my ID/contractor is going to hide the switches inside the top drawer of my lower cabinets. He is very pleased with it but unfortunately I forgot to take a pix of the drawer. Another team will come next week to do the touch ups for the cabinets. That will be a test of their skills! So far from what I can see, the workmanship is good and the carpenter took care in handling my cupboards during installation bcos of my black laminates. The next big thing is the wall where the hood will be. Thats where i will have big picture frames to create the cafe look which I have always wanted for my kitchen. My ID/contractor said he will help me create a distressed look for my frames so that it will go with my rustic theme. we will also be installing black rods for hanging utensils. I'm not sure if the idea will turn out like how i imagine it to be, but he is very confident it will work out. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a few more weeks!
  24. More pictures of my black carpentry in the kitchen ... My full height cabinet on one side of the kitchen. The big white 2-door fridge was given to me by the sellers. It was in good condition since they didn't live in the flat. Black inner laminates + Blum hinges + Lots of storage space! Hole for my oven. I opted for standalone oven rather than a built-in one bcos I want to be able to bring my oven with me when I sell my place. The Blum tracks for the oven tray can take maximum weight of 60kg, so no problem pulling it out for ventilation when in use.
