  1. Hi hi!! Been quite some time since i post any updates here. Been very busy helping my mum in law at her shop every day after work. Did not even have time to see the house so when I went on Sunday I was delightfully surprised. The only tile works left is the mosaics which have yet to arrive. Saw that the skeleton of my feature wall has been done. Will be meeting the electrician soon, either this week or next. Hope the electrical works won't cost me a bomb, especially after having to spend money repairing my car because of the accident.
  2. where is dis mondi lifestyle located?
  3. Hi there..welcome to the club...hahaha! So looks like u have gotten the spam chop from odie and mace. That was fast. Good luck to your upcoming reno. Hope to see the pics soon!
  4. Oh yes..I saw some short docu on those replicas there. The show was aired some time ago on channel news asia. Was quite impressed but don't know what's suitable for a modern concept like mine. Maybe juz random splashes of colours..hmm
  5. Saw that table at a few places at Sungai Kadut. U may want to check them out as there were a few shops with good deals there!
  6. Thank u so much for your inputs. Yah lil blue bear, I do know that I should juz follow what my heart says as its my house and not the parents. Juz dat their opinions got me thinking and made me kancheong for awhile..hehe. From what had been calculated, the difference of with or without tiles behind cabinets is a few hundred. Me and hubby did think of skipping the tiles altogether. We were more interested in doing cement screeding for our kitchen. However, after much thinking we decided to juz have tiles as with kids around in the future, it will be easier to clean. Yup juzchris, I did think of that possibility. I don't think we will be changing the position of the kitchen cabinets as most probably we will only live there for 5 years. If we do intend to stay on, maybe after that 5 years I may decide to do a total revamp of my kitchen...hehe.
  7. After consulting people here and some of my frens, I decided not to spend more money on tiles behind the kitchen cabinet. So one problem settled! Heard warderz reno is doing well and he's moving in this week. Can't wait to kaypoh see his house...hehe...new window neighbour mah. Poor u autumnzy...take heart. Dat time was me having no stock of tiles, then its u having some things go wrong. Hopefully neither of us will have any mishaps again!
  8. Actually for ours the package is inclusive of the tiles behind cabinet. But me and hubby tot don't need so we push the balance after minusing cost and labour of the tiles to our l-box and feature wall.
  9. Wah warderz...so now i can juz drop by at your place ah??
  10. Hmm...I thought so too. The tiling works for the balcony is ready but the furnishings for the balcony itself is not. Have not purchase the things lah...hehe
  11. Hi people. Need your advice here. Is it necessary to have tiles behind kitchen cabinets? My hubby thought its of no use as no one can see them anyway. But my parents and parents in law said its better to have tiles done up all around. What do u think? I'm clueless here.
  12. It depends on what top u are getting. Marble is pricier than glass. The range is from 800 plus to the really high end ones of 2000 plus. Have a great time looking for your dining set!
  13. Yup...saw that at besglass. If i'm not wrong it costs about 500 plus to 600. Wanted doors from them but hubby said not worth to get expensive doors as we canont bring them over to another house if we wanna move
  14. Wah...your painting and ceiling works are done! Congrats! My reno is progressing slowly as I'm not in a hurry to move in also. My painting of the whole unit will be done later this month by my hubby, his frens and family..hehe. He die2 wanna paint himself so ok lor. Btw, your unit is the one to the rite of the lift landing is it? its the corner unit rite??

    Bo N Go

Yah.. u should get more qoutes from more ID so u can compare not only the price but also their designs, ideas and workmanship. Weelington circle is near my mum's place. Tot of getting a flat there during the WIS last year but hubby was fussy. Don't want near rubbish chute or lift, and needs sunlight to come in the drying clothes area. At last, we did not choose any..haha
  16. HI PEOPLE! I'm back. Juz came back from my week long holiday. Tired but I guessed its a mental break from work that I truly deserved..hehe. Oh ya...about the mosaics. We decided to wait for the April stock to come so gonna do everything else as planned first then when the mosaics are here, ID will asked workers to do it. Just came back from viewing the reno progress. Quite happy to see most of the tiling works are almost done. But my mum asked me about the tiles in the kitchen. Me and hubby thought its no point having tiles behind the kitchen cabinet as no one can see them. However, my mum said lizards will tend to hide behind the cabinets if we did not do any tiles. Need all of u kind people here to shed some light on this. Should we have tiles behind the kitchen cabinet also?? What do u people think? I'm clueless.
  17. As for me, I'm doing l-box for my living and an island false ceiling juz for my dining. So my false ceiling is the exact same measurement as my dining table. In all, I'm only using 8 PLC. Me and hubby don't like too many downlights like my parent's place cos in the end they only use the normal ceiling lights. We don't quite like false ceiling all the way as we wanna save money too. At first we wanted to do l-box for dining area also but my ID said if do smaller false ceiling will be cheaper than to do l-box all round. So ok lor...we juz follow wat he said.
  18. Wah...sure expensive. Nowadays most people use plywood.
  19. Me and hubby thinking of getting the free gas storage heater from citygas. Told my ID to call citygas for us. Heard from my fren that she installed the heater in her kitchen. The worker from citygas said can. Then when the supervisor came, he said its not allowed. So my fren asked him if can change the place. He said if change then she will be charged extra. Therefore, my fren refused to pay as its not her fault but the worker's fault. So the supervisor did not want to change the heater's place. In the end, her storage heater became a white elephant. She cannot use it and had to buy an instant heater for her kids. Better make sure my ID really ask citygas on where my heater can be installed.
  20. I cannot believe this!!!!!!!!!! Wanna know something? I knew something was not rite when my mosaics still have not arrived yesterday evening. My ID called Hafary and they said the mosaics I've chosen is out of stock now! What a ridiculous thing?!?! My hubby and me made it a point to choose tiles way before CNY. It was early January when we went there. Some of the tiles we chose were out of stock then cos many people rushing to finish reno by CNY. THAT we can understand cos at that time we have 2 months to go before starting reno. They said after CNY confirm have stocks coming in. Now don't have!!! I'm so pissed off. Luckily my ID said he will get the exact ones from another company. Phew!
  21. Autumnzy..not me lah, I'm wearing a striped tope for work today.
  22. I went around 8. I don't think that was me lah..hehe After reading warderz comments on sungai kadut, I think i wanna go there this weekend. However, Saturday sure cannot cos my whole Saturday burn with adopt a park event...sigh. Do any of u know if after 6 the furniture warehouses there still open? If not then muz go on Sunday...bopian lor! Haizz...so many things to do. Next week I won't be in S'pore also. Hopefully the reno still goes on smoothly.
  23. Actually tot of buying an EM first cos i like the extra study room. But hubby gaainst the idea. He wanted 4 room cos he said can save more money in cpf. I kicked up a fuss so finally settled on a 5rm. Wow..30k on reno...that's a lot! Mine is only 14k, not inclusive of electrical wiring and furniture yet. Autumnzy, u should do what warderz said. Better still, slot in the photocopied permit under her main door..hahaha!
  24. Warderz...thanks a lot for being the extra pair of eyes. Me and hubby did go there a little bit after 6, u know. Must have missed u then. Yup mine is more of a modern minimalist concept. And its true that the balcony is like the cherry on top of the cake. We like the layout and when we saw the balcony, we said this is it...die2 muz take...haha. Like what warderz said, all the hackings are completed. So finally the neighbours can have some peace and quiet. Dropped by just now and they were cementing the walls. My kitchen's doorway a bit rosak cos they accidentally hacked through some parts of it. They were repairing it just now. Tiling works will start very soon. All my tiles had arrived except for the mosaics. Quite worried. Don't know what happen to them. Called my ID to inform Hafary. Heard they will deliver the mosaics today.
  25. Hahaha...another comment of loud drilling from my house. Seeing u so charged up to do your wall mural makes my hands itchy to do mine. But then, I've already planned to do one in the nursery room. Surely cannot have too many in the house rite?
